Taiwan’s Guardian Grounded Taiwan has grounded its new fleet of US-made AH-64E Guardian attack helicopters for checks after a notice from Washington warning the model could malfunction. It is just five days since Taiwan’s military displayed the new AH-64E Apache helicopters to the public in a high-profile ceremony presided over by President Ma Ying-jeou, who pledged to maintain a “solid defence force” despite warming ties with former arch-rival China. Taiwan last month received the first six of 30 AH-64E Guardian helicopters bought from the US while the remainder will be delivered by the end of 2014. The Taiwanese army is the first force outside the United States to introduce the E model, an extensively upgrade variant from the ever-popular AH-64D Longbow Apache. Beside Taiwan, other international operator of the Guardian variant include South Korea and Indonesia. The attack helicopter were part of a USD6.5 billion arms deal announced in 2008 that irked Beijing. sosej

QUOTE(cukobi @ Dec 18 2013, 08:36 PM) would like to know...Beriev A-50 aew...your opinion and perhaps other top grass on this aircraft.. seems like not getting any review about this.. We prefer western block and without israel product in its. so the a50 is definitely out of questions. Erieye is favorable contender given it cost and flexibility to install on any suitable aircraft.

QUOTE(waja2000 @ Dec 19 2013, 02:15 AM) Kedah Class missile upgrade should be ASAP. i still thinking 6 Aew Heli is for Gowind SGPV or not, if not We still need get 6 more for SGPV. than in total we need order 12 AEW heli. AW159 or NH9 NFH. Also is AEW Heli is alternative solution because we can't afford MPA aircraft? Kedah class upgrade could be undergoing after kasturi class sea trails completed early next years. 6asw/asuw were meant for gowind class. As for mpa is not that expensive anyway. We could get in 2-3 batches. If we can't afford in large no.

QUOTE(waja2000 @ Dec 19 2013, 10:08 AM) 36 JAS-39NG for 4.5 billion. about 125 million a unit. should be include weapon, parts, training and maintenance. so the price not that people think JAS-39NG is cheap. but at lease can save fuel cost. if we buy half (18 unit) maybe also need around 2.5 billion (assume more unit is more cheaper). Could include join development like swiss deals. Swiss deal were 22 units @ usd3.3bil. besides gripen ng still under development.

QUOTE(ayanami_tard @ Dec 19 2013, 01:40 PM) MEF are indonesian programme to rearm themselves after the severe arms embargo+conflicts in acheh and east timor+hampered programme due to 97 crisis and tsunami. we have started rearming ourselves since mid 90s We too suffer from 97 crisis. if not because of that we would have 18 hornets. then a major mismanagement in kedah class project. Later we were struck by 2007/8 golbal crisis cancellation of lekui class bath 2, mpss and even sph. Sigh. Currently indon on spending spree so nice.

QUOTE(ayanami_tard @ Dec 22 2013, 06:33 PM) chinese (eventual) answer to USA's Nimitz and Gerald Ford Class CVN http://news.yahoo.com/china-developing-11-...-092729535.htmlBeijing, Dec. 22 (ANI): China has declared it is building a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The size of the carrier will be huge enough to rival the biggest in United States naval service in the first move of a major new arms race. According to China Daily, Chinese website qianzhan.com said 'top People's Liberation Army' sources as saying the 110,000-ton aircraft carrier should be launched by 2020. The news follows rising tensions in the South and East China Seas. The design of the carrier is reportedly based on drawings from the former Soviet Union of a nuclear-powered, 80,000 ton vessel capable of carrying 60 aircraft, the report added.(ANI) They still very green in managing an a/c.

QUOTE(ayanami_tard @ Dec 23 2013, 06:27 PM) sure the lads up in RMAF did a great job keeping the bird intact (and thus also cementing the venerable status in of the S-61/sea king), but i bet the man hour per flight hour gotta be high due to aging fuselage, stress fatigue, etc after all teh "high-profile" spending ends, i hope we can replace them asap. sure AW101 is good (since it is designed as like-for-like replacement for sea king) but i'd take new Mi-171 as replacement. it's cheaper(1 AW101 = up to 5 Mi-171),battle proven and versatile enough. sure it has it's weakness (being slow is one of them, though other more obscure fact is that Mi-171 cannot operate effectively in higher altitude, the reason why PLA still retain their S-70s),but for me, i'd prefer a hi-lo mix of more capable helos in smaller number (for spec ops, CSARs and inflitration deep in enemy line, etc) and less sophisticated helos in larger number (general transport, humanitarian effort, etc) I still prefer government get more ec725 mayb in the mix of utility dan csar variant. chinook is great for heavy utility workhorse for us. Spec ops heli is very much needed too mayb we should opt for blackhawk instead.
