you people remember my previous post about how the chinese love their S-70 blackhawks? now they've so in love with it they even copied one

http://china-defense.blogspot.com/2013/12/...ft-utility.html

(there are 5 rotor blades instead of 4... maybe derived from Mi-8)

Actually BAE going to bag significant contract off brazillian gripen sale, since abt 30 percent of gripen is made by BAE

thailand operated the older, single-engine variant

and no the AH-1 is not designed for "desert" warfare only.... in fact it's first action was the vietnam war.

......................................

the swedes has older JAS-39A/B variant in storage currently. i bet these older gripen is in better shape than the one being mothballed in south african inventory

can we ask them to sell it for us. ask Saab to upgrade to C/D variant as well

...................or we could ask the korean to sell us some of them F/A-50

it's cheap (USD600mil for 20 planes), shares similar munition as F/A-18D and F-5E and even shares some of the F/A-18 logistic (especially the engine).we can replace F-5,hawk 208 and even MiG-29 in one go.

though i dont think indon gonna be happy with it.
pinoy? screw them and their mundus

EDIT: iraq bought them 24 units of F/A-50s for around 1 bil usd... those 20 for 600 mil are maybe for less sophisticated variant of F/A-50 and maybe because iraq deal also include maintanence, training and spare parts.

ultimately depends on the entire package itself.

klu F/A-18F has the same hassle as the F/A-18D we bought decades ago then tell mr obama to belok kiri.

another reason why the tornado was't selected was because the complexity of variable geometry wing aircraft and the tornado was never a true air superiority aircraft (despite being the first MRCA, it is more geared towards low-level,deep penetration strike)

the avionic in F/A-18 enables the aircraft to change its mission in flight.thus it can carry both air defence and air-to-ground or anti-ship role in one go

this capability is nonexistent/severely limited in previous aircraft.thus the reason why the aircraft in USAF, for example, had either the F designation (for fighter, such as F-4 or F-14) or A (A-4,A-7). tornado have this capability but the platform itself is more suited to low-level strike (similar to SEPECAT jaguar or Mig-27)Boeing took this capability to F-15 (which gave birth to F-15E) and subsequent newer aircraft

nowadays, with the advancement in microprocessor and software technology, almost every front line aircrafts can carry multi mission in one go.

ofc la have to dig deep. even though this tered is more casual than the more serious forum dedicated to military news and discussion(like panggilan pertiwi, axis history forum, or some other military-related forum),do try to keep a degree of quality in this tered.

try to balance between weed posts and bash posts, and more importantly, keep it factual, with reputable source. that's all.
