You can buy a sound card to replace on board equalizer

I bought my Blacky MX5021 at RM530!!! Cheaper than KL. I bought at Ipoh, Yik Foong, the shop named Sniper
White edition and black edition is same price. The sub woofer for white edition didn't come with a cover to protect the it from dust. You can go Altec website check this.

If is GT5051 the price is RM550 PC-Zone

Oh my god man, you can't pair like this. Satellite of MX5021 and ATP3 got big different. If you pair together, I can't imagine the result. You may get a worse result.

Different people got different taste and needs. Your setting not suit me I had tried put my old 2.1 Creative Inspire 2.1 2400 to the rear while my MX5021 is front. Setting is 4.1 in the sound card setting. Tried listen music and game, but I'm not satisfy with the creative 2.1 satellite and bass. Anyway MX5021 and 2400 are different level speaker la.

Both of this sound card are major in music. You are major in music, gaming or movie?

AudioTrak Prodigy HD is good in music but not perform well in movie

I using MX5021 too, pair it with Audigy2 Zs with stock cable. Your room is wooden wall or tile wall?
Well, the following story was my experience and all of this was just my 80cents

My bed room is wooden wall located in the middle of inside my house, 3 side is wood and 1 side is tile. I place my woofer under left hand side of my table, behind of satellites and woofer is tile wall and direction to another side of wooden wall with window and door. When I listen songs with level 3- 3.5 volume, the people who stand outside my room will listen the more nice sound than I stay in my room. This is because the wooden wall... I think if my room is fully tile wall, the sound will be better. May be this is not the only reason made you not satisfy with your MX5021, may be is your songs (pirated or MP3 that download from internet will not clear as the encoded from original CD), your sound card or position or setting of your speaker.
Normally I will not enable my sound card equalizer because I want listen the true sound from my CD.
While about MX5021, I think if you watch movie it may not make you feel disappointed because it was a THX certified speaker.
If your friend computer has better sound card, bring your friend computer to your room have a test with your speaker!

Not so sure about the status of Philip external sound card, may be discontinued ady. You can try to ask this at Garagle Sales. Well, I didn't adjust the treble and bass setting in the sound card and speaker setting, may be your taste was not my taste lol My friend said my MX5021 woofer are slightly light than his friend old MX5021, while the quality he can't compare because my 1 at Kampar another 1 at Penang. How to compare since the distance so far??!! No matter how we replace the thinny stock cable to other high quality cable, it just has small improvement unless we mod the cap or opamp. But this way is very very risky. If you really want high quality speaker, you may consider Bose Companion 3 or 5

We are almost out of topic, don't forget this is Altec Lansing Fans Club The price for Bose Companion 3 and Companion 5 are more than RM1k....

Well back to topic, you done a very good job with your Altec speaker! Can I know what is ASIO? Is it a plug in or program to enhance the SQ? Can show some picture of your silver cable? Because I also plan to replace my stock cable! How did you install KMixer driver for your sound blaster live?

Since Audigy2 ZS already discontinued, I suggest you take at least Audigy 4, X-Fi, Xonar, HD2.....

Audigy 4 RM2xx, Asus Xonar RM5xx, Audiotrak Prodigy HD2 RM3xx. All of this sound card can perform well in music.
Well I prefer buy Xonar than the rest, this is just my personal opinion. Let say, if you use xonar sound card. I think you won't need kxdrivers anymore.

That's why I said audigy 2 zs already discontinued, you can ask this at garage sales if you want. May be got people want to sell.

Not so sure, i also donno why i buy MX5021.

Yup, sometime i also felt my MX5021 was lack of bass. For me, this speaker has average bass and treble, not the boomy speaker. I can listen soft song and also disco song. Watching movie with maximum satisfaction except the surround sound. So, if you felt lack of bass. You just adjust the bass level on the speaker. Don't forget its has limitation because the sub woofer only support up to 50w.

You can adjust the bass and treble by the external controller. I using default setting for my speaker, 3 out of 5 star for bass and treble. My sound card setting also default, I didn't enable my ZS EAX and equalizer. Em...will spoil woofer ? EXP. You try play I wanna fxxx you this song, speaker setting bass set to maximum. Then you slowly change your speaker to volume 3 to 4 out of 5. Then you will realize the pak pak sound from your woofer and this is the limitation of MX5021 woofer. Don't let this condition continue, this will spoil your speaker. MX5021 6.5" woofer consider is big if compare to the low end speaker. If compare with the high end like 8" and 10", this is just a small baby

Avoid set the bass, treable or speaker volume to maximum, because this will reduce speaker's life. Small room may not suitable to put this speaker, audio effect may as good as what you expected. Just my 80cents

I think that's no problem if the sound doesn't like different sound. I means don't have extra sound like 'chi chi' or 'blek blek'. My suggestion are your treble set to 3 o'clock.

EM...agree with you. but hifi system are expensive than Altec desktop speaker
