as cases involve stopping at traffic light already or move-stop-move-stop traffic condition but still get knocked and counter blame it was your fault of e-brake, the speed changes & view can tell the truth.
For GPS enabled recorder, the speed shown tends to be "jumpy", and reacts slower to actual speed. I would think anyone who views the footage will be able to judge who is at fault based on the surrounding scene.
So what this means is that it looks more like a series connection with intermediate safety mechanism in between to safeguard the car battery from over-discharging to a point of it does not have enough to start the car.
Which means the power bank would be able to sustain 36 hours without using the car battery. From their website, it seems they say this is the case, and it will charge up the battery pack when the car is running (full charge takes 45 min). From this statement, should it be at the assumption that the battery pack would know when is the car running or when is it turned off?
Yeah, I wonder how the powerbank is connected to the car alternator to allow it to charge the powerbank. And what mechanism is there to stop the charging once the powerbank is fully charged.
Any recomnded dash cam below rm300?just started to try using n dnt want to pay alot on my 1st dash cam, prefr easy to purchase as not tht good buying online stuf & 1 more what m.card to use with it?brand?32gb below ok?cheap price also
I bought a Yi camera online, about RM200 thereabout after using coupons at 11street. It's the grey edition, 165deg angle. Fixed it at the rear windscreen and I must say I am impressed with the video quality. My rear tint is a little dark and rear windscreen has lots of water marks but the camera manages to capture very decent videos during daytime and night time.
For memory card, I use a Sandisk Ultra 32GB (the white/grey one, 48mbps speed) which I got from Lazada flash sale last year. It has been commented that Sandisk cards spoil fast when used in DVR but that is the only spare card I have now.
Video loop is fixed at 3 minutes. For my 1920*1080 30fps recording, each 3min clip is about 320-330MB in size. This is big, compared with my ancient Blackvue DR400HG camera (90-100 MB for 2 minute clips at the same resolution and frame speed) - but not so big compared to those other el-cheapo China cameras.
Thx for the review tot want to get 1 yi car dvr, but so many type n cannot choose which to buy, fyi if not mistake got 3 ver right?165deg got 2 ver n other 1 if not mistaken 130deg fov
I was contemplating getting the youth version too due to lower price. After getting the grey version, I am glad I didn't go for it since 165° FOV for my grey version also seems like not wide enough. Not sure whether 130° vs 165° is that obvious if camera is mounted in front, but on the rear windscreen, 165° is not that wide.
Appreciate if someone can assist on my question for the length of sub cable that I need.
What is the length of the usb cable I need to get from cigarette lighter socket to the rear window on MPV ? (e.g. Alza, Grand Livana, Sienta, Exora, etc)?
Standard usb cable comes along with XiaoYi dashcam is 3.5M, is it I have to get at least 8M? Thank you
If you have lots of spare cable lying around, can try using this connector. Mine is female mini USB - female USB. I think should have micro USB female - USB female.
Thanks for the recommendation..looks very good for 118c but
How about this camera recorder below..i was recommended this when i go check at nearby shop..looks good can record both front and interior..i like it coz it's very stealthy..not noticeable to ppl inside car
Does it have dimming function? If not, you will have issue with glare if vehicle behind you has Bengish HIDs. One thing I dislike about this kind of clip on is the vibration. Makes it difficult to see view behind.
And if you intend to use it as reverse camera display, do check out its brightness/usability during daytime. Some can be too dim to be of any use during daytime.
The price is 550..no sample video from the shop but they claimed it's good...
anyhow i've changed my mind and have purchased the A118C first for front camera..for interior and back i may opt to go with MateGo XP1 later..
Do you know any good video that can teach noob like me to hard wire the camera into car cable? ..i prefer not to install the car dvr into the cigarette input.
or just search "how to hardwire a dashcam".
People usually hardwire the dashcam for these reasons: 1. need a parking mode (ciggy lighter usually cuts off the power when ignition is off) 2. some cars have continuous power to ciggy lighter, so drivers have to disconnect the power source each time they switch off the engine. 3. free up the ciggy lighter for other use - to charge hp, GPS, etc. This can be easily mitigated by buying a multi-port charger (Aukey, etc) or splitter that gives you 2 or more ciggy lighter ports and even a USB port or two. 4.Aesthetics - no messy wire 5. Bragging right - hey, I DIY-ed the installation, ok.
Using the ciggy lighter is the easiest way to power the 5V dashcam though, and is much safer when it comes to not voiding new-car warranty.
As A118C uses 5V, you need a 12V-to-5V converter. How reliable those MIC converters are is questionable. For cars with not many fuses to tap into (like my Vios), you could choose to tap into the power source of your radio.

they have a reason why commonly bundle 3.5m cable
under pc environment, usb device using 5m cable can experience intermittent power loss
unless one is using great quality usb cable (not generic china made one)
For PC use, it could also interfere with data transfer.. or maybe data transfer is caused by power loss as you mentioned. In any case, in PC environment, the power supplied from PC USB port may not be that high to begin with, compared to a ciggy lighter that can push out 1A. The Yi dashcam uses 400-plus mA during recording with LCD screen off (and less during video trasferring using WiFi), so if the power supply can push out 1A, it should be ok, I guess.
Thanks for the detailed explanation..i have watched few of those video but still scared i make silly mistake go wire wrong place..maybe ill test install the camera to my old car first.
as for 12v to 5v converter below converter can be used rite? cheapest 1 i found in lazada.
There are converters with built in micro/mini USB jack at the other end. And you will want to seriously add a fuse on the positive side of the cable upstream of the converter so that you don't burn your car if it short circuits. I would just run a USB cable and power it with multi-port ciggy lighter plug.
Hi all, My 3M sticker for my dashcam tend to "melt" when it's too hot, causing the cam to be fall off, especially since i park under hot weather with no cover for my car. When it cool off, i can stick it back on without any issue.
Any advice on alternative sticker or best way to stick my dashcam? Thanks

You're looking at the generic A118C or the Viofo A118C? I think the previous code might still work... Try clear acrylic double-sided tape... Works good for me... Can get in any DIY shop...
A118C so far gearbest I can see selling for US$50 thereabout. The A119 with GPS that I am keen is now selling at US110
A119 promotions and codes all stopped as Viofo stopped GB from selling at low price as some sellers complain about GB selling cheap... Also maybe future might not be able to sell A119 anymore... I think this is why GB can't get to sell the A119S also...
That's sad. Really regret not buying the 69.90 deal. In dashcamtalk forum, a user supposedly from Viofo had advised buyers to avoid buying from GB.
lucky u got mention to do some modification..i found this great stuff..so i can just buy this and connect my camera directly to the cigarette port..no nid do any modification..
later i just hide it behind my car leh..and can use for many dvr camera
I bought one such thing online. It comes with 3 ciggy ports with individual switchs, and two USB ports at the side, with voltage meter. The USB output can go up to 1.5A when charging a Samsung Note.
i bought this one..cost around 176 when convert to myr
I booked one last night, but suffer buyer's remorse after paying. I was thinking that I should have bought the actual Viofo unit for about RM40-plus more after reading review on the poorer night video compared to Viofo unit. Applied for cancellation but my gmail email (auto filled in the e-form) returns a "please enter a valid email address". Emailed to GB customer service and received no reply till today. Just now, my order is shown as "packed".
I did try to raise support ticket using the form your link shows. This is the one where my default login email (xxx@gmail.com) returns a "please use a valid email address". With this error, I could not proceed further. The following day, GB added insult to injury with an email titled: Great News: Your Order Wxxxxxxxx has been shipped out The email to customer service was to inform and ask why the error occured. Mind you, I could not change the email address to another one as it is linked to my login email.
No choice but to wait for it to arrive lo. Looking at you video, I have my worry that it will be even darker when I fix it to my rear windscreen due to the darker tint on my car.

The firmware update on the generic A118C actually improved the night video...
Did you try to raise a support ticket? It's faster than email.
I've canceled a few orders before and they are very fast and refunded to my Paypal.
Actually, both specs are the same. It goes down to the firmware for a better video.
Can you recommend a site to d/l the latest fw or the one you think is the better fw? I tried here and downloaded the latest from Viofo. However saw this in the Readme file, so not sure whether it is for A118 or A119 or both both models. Also, can I flash the generic A118C with Viofo's FW? ]

mushigen A suggestion. Sell the A118C to Keatsan and you buy the Viofo? Good idea?
Since bought ady, might as well try it for rear mounting. If OK, I'll shift the Yi Cam to in front. Yi cam stands out like a sore thumb when mounted at the rear and it sorts of distract me too.

wahh the delivery speed for gearbest is very good..cant believe they only took 5 days to ship my A118C from HK..ordered on monday and received the goods today.
Congrats. Which courier delivered to you? Do post some photos of the box and camera, and vids here once you have set it up.
skynet2020 something you might like to add on GPS module
blurjoey does this GPS module allow the A118 to set its own time/date like those Korean cams with built-in GPS?
This post has been edited by mushigen: Mar 3 2017, 12:02 PM
My A118C delivered to me today by ABX. Ordered 28/2 (Tue night).
blurjoey Will the video quality be very badly affected if I leave the protective plastic film on the camera lens intact? The film looks transparent enough. Also, if I set the timezone to +8 GMT, does it mean it will sync with GPS time if I add the GPS module? I sometimes leave my car unused for > 1 day, so I suppose the capacitor will not hold enough charge to retain the date/time - keeping the time/date up to date is my main reason for considering the GPS module.
is this the cheapest price already? any comment? think to buy this or xiaoyi first edition...still thinking
The former is generic version, a.k.a. celup version. Based on what I managed to read online, initially the quality was ok, but as with all things, the quality became questionable. I bought one from GB recently and the night video is like sh!t. Don't get me started on getting GB to replace/refund. It's money down the drain for me. The video still below is taken from the video when I entered my covered carpark. Maybe mine is a lemon... changed a few firmwares, including one from Viofo but still no good. I would think the Viofo version is ok, if you are given the original one that is. In any case, if the camera spoils or DOA, you are screwed.
