Anyone using Viofo A119 who experienced failed recording, be it due to memory card or whatever? When it failed, did you get any beeping warning or none?
Asking because I'm thinking of installing one at the rear, so I'd want to know how to detect non-recording.

Mine have the beeping sound coz the date and settings keep resetting due to faulty capacitor. So it keep on popping the Format memory card error.
*
Will it still be able to record if you ignore the beeping?

The beeping means it's not recording due to an error. And will continue to beep until you fix it laugh.gif  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

Hehe, was wondering since it's just the date and time, maybe they program the beeping to go off after a certain interval and continue recording. Just like you don't disable the whole car just because one tyre has low air pressure (in the case of cars with TPMS) biggrin.gif
Thank you for the confirmation on the SD card error beep.

I didn't notice whether it was recording or not when the beeping occur. Coz there was pop up error in the screen. But i think u shouldnt ignore the beeping coz it means there is something wrong and your videos may not be record properly.
But after i set the settings again, it works normally but the last file always semi-corrupt due to the faulty capacitor. I have to play the last file from the dashcam then the video will auto fix.
If i off my engine, the power will immediately cut off and everything will reset.

Agree. Thank you for the confirmation.

Bro, mind sharing how you get the USD4 coupon for new member? I created an account, but I don't see any USD4 coupon.

Edit: found it already. I realise if you buy from app, it costs USD47.92 instead of USD48.67 (36% discount vs 35% discount on desktop)

May I know if the A119 v2 automatically syncs the date/time with gps if we use the gps mount? This will be my only reason for getting the GPS mount. Without it, will the time drift?

Yes it will sync time and date with the gps mount. Also the timezone needs to be correct on the A119. Or else the time will be wrong.

Never tried it without the gps mount before.

You connect to 🔋 signal from fuse sure can. Only 24/7 hours recording. I worried the dashcam internal battery and the sandisk ultra card die prematurely.

Need to add a 12V > 5V converter too.

I bought papago 360d dashcam.
Which has the features to take photo when detect any motion.
To enable this feature, the cam have to connect to car battery.
I am afraid the car battery dies if I parked my car and many moving things around.
Any alternative?
And I am looking for shop to install the cam for me.
It’s a front and back cam.
For the back cam, should I install behind the windscreen or outside my car at the car boot there?
Just afraid plp go vandalise the car cam.
Install behind windscreen can see clearly?

Any shop reccommend? What is the reasonable price they charge?

Pls advice thanks.

I don't think the rear cam is water resistant, therefore not recommended to install outside. In any case, installing it outside may not give you the best viewing angle.
As long as your rear windscreen is not tinted too dark, it is usually ok to install it inside. You might suffer a bit of quality of night recordings but this is not avoidable. Else, just install the legendary Yi cam because it performs better under low light - the bane of many dashcams.

Have good experience so far using Samsung Evo. This is coming from someone who first installed a dashcam in his car in 2011.

bluejoey, I'm looking to mount a cylindrical dashcam on my rear windscreen but pointing towards the front to capture a "bird eye's view" in case of accident.

I already have one B1W to capture the rear of the car. So, there will be two cylindrical cameras stuck on my rear windscreen.

Between B1W and 70Mai, which one would you recommend, and which one performs better in the dark?

I used to mount the Yi cam on the rws pointing to the front and it managed to capture the scene outside of the car quite well (through the car windows and fws) due to its brighter lens (or whatever that causes it to perform better in the dark).
My priority is the scene outside of the car.

Thank you.

Both are using Sony IMX323, so the night video is good. But recording inside the cabin at night will be hard as there isn't much light inside. 70mai night video looks darker in my videos. Not sure if new firmwares have any improvement to the video quality.

But the viewing angle, 70mai 130° vs B1W 150°. This another thing you'll need to consider.

Since you have a B1W, rotate it and to record inside and see how the video quality.

Thank you for your reply.
Understand about the cabin darkness. My intention is to capture the happenings outside of the car through the fws and both front windows, which is useful, for example, to show how a car swerved in front of me from my side, or how a vehicle hits my side - which the front cam may not capture in detail.
Hence, darker cabin is actually an advantage so that the camera will record at its brightest setting.

I tried rotating the B1W towards the front and it looks ok, but a tad darker than Yi cam. Hence, wondering if 70mai will perform better. But I guess the 150° FOV of the B1W will be the deciding factor.

The Yi cam sticks out like a sore thumb, tends to get hit by rear passenger's head, and impedes my view through the rws so it's not the best solution.

What mean by true parking mode? F200 you got use?
*
I think what he means is in a true parking mode, the cam sort of goes to sleep when not triggered. When it detects motions or the vibration hits the trigger level, it starts recording and the video clip is stored with time starting from T-10 seconds or depends on the manufacturer, instead of starting from T.
This helps to identify the culprit more effectively. So there is a buffer of 10s in this case. If the motion/vibration is not triggered, this buffer will not be recorded in the SD card.

My ancient Blackvue DR400-HD had this function when I bought it in 2010 or 2011, so the Koreans do have an early start.

Viofo can't do it? It said got motion detector when I read the description of the product haha, so I thought it have the option you mentioned above
*
Motion detector functions as we know it. For example, if a lighting is equipped with motion detector, it lights up when it detects motion. That's it. It does not light up 10 seconds before you trigger to detector.

I don't have a Viofo so I do not know for sure whether it has buffer or not.

I have the B1W at the rear (thanks to blurjoey, else I would not know of its existence).
I have downloaded a firmware that keeps the WiFi switched off by default.
With B1W WiFi on, my phone cannot use mobile data.
