Would have preferred we fielded our bench. I enjoy a good cup run like anyone else but I can't say I'm too disappointed in the manner of our exit. The lads gave us a decent performance. The formation was unexpected (to me at least), and Suarez got a run-in. He's still lacking match sharpness but that's nothing that a few games under his belt won't cure. The Capital One Cup has lost a lot of its prestige over the years.

Didn't catch the game, but I've been told it was pretty even. This honestly would've been one of those games I would've liked for us to win; but wouldn't take it too hard if we lost. We simply don't have enough cover and we're really thin. One less competition is more avoided injuries to first teamers. Let's concentrate on getting back into 4th.

Problem is BR took this game too seriously.Should have rested main players.I think most of us anticipated loss.

The onslaught on BR will begin if we fail to beat sunderland.People are gonna criticise him for overplaying some of our players.

A team that just sacked their manager, sorry i don't think he will get away even with 1 point.

Another carbon copy of Southampton's goal.

Very surprise to see Gerrard play another full match.

Consecutive, run of matches, 2 matches per week during WC Q, now as well.

not br fault both hendo and kolo cant score that open chance... i've been always in that situation during playing futsal.. it shuld be taken with most right toe rather than left toe to avoid the ball swing to the left...

hope next match we can use this :

--------------gerrard/lucas----------------
hendo/gerrard-------------alberto--------
-mose-------------------------suarez-----
------------sturridge-----------------------

having both lucas and gerrard will waste space

Its not doubt we're gonna end the season empty handed.

What we're after is Europe for next season, preferably Champions League.

I think even if we beat Manure in the Cap1Cup, we'd still lose to Arsenal, Spurs.

Funny Gerrard n Lucas was wut we think was lacking in our squad when both were injured. sad.gif

With Soton, we tot LS7 return wud be it. But still no.

So wut is it?

lack of creativity after cautinho injured. this is our problem. without creativity there is less chance of attack for striker. maybe we can try put Alberto there but it seem BR not convince that Alberto can do the job. Aspas is not suitable at that position.

one solution is to bring forward Gerrard and push hendo to play deep at central.

i feel half the ppl here didnt watch the match, and just assuming cos we lost that there was no this or that or whatever.
yes, we lost...
but to say there were no chances? what rubbish.
there were some good linkup plays, but some just looked plain lethargic...

I can understand the temptation to field a strong squad against the mancs but I really wished he'd shown some restraint and let the young uns stretch their legs a little. Aspas is having a torrid time despite strong displays during pre-season. Coming to terms with the physicality and pace of English football is taking him longer than expected. We won't always buy gems, like any other club, and this is evident by the long list of duds over the years which include Morientes, Diouf, Downing, Aquilani, Carroll, Keane, etc. Aspas cost us as much as Dossena did which is some way off the price we paid for Downing, Aquilani, Carroll and Robbie Keane. Still hoping he comes good but he needs to bulk up in the way Yao Ming did after moving to the NBA.

I dunno why I seem to dislike Sterling on the pitch... 90% of the time he will loose the ball and fell down without getting any free kick... his size might not be so suitable for football?
There is the feeling that "owh we gonna give back the possession to opponent, shiat" whenever Sterling have the ball whistling.gif
