QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ Sep 30 2013, 02:03 AM)
Danny Boy was just awesome. The first goal wasnt a deliberate handball and whoever says so is an idiot.

Suarez looked good. So did Moses.

Hendo was horrible and I think he knows it. Lucas was, um... forgettable. Stevie G looked rusty, again, given his age, not surprising.

Toure was worrisome at times with his hugging and shirt holding.
*
yup, it just his timing. Wasn't that you will expect from a deadly finisher. In other word not a robbie fowler type natural striker instinct. still young, still can learn

two strikers, will expect more goals from them. we might have excellent haul of points when suarez was out but he is a better finisher (and creator). sometimes as in last season, almost out of the blue. He is an asset no doubt but hope he come clean with his antics.

If we do nick a place in CL next season, and if he still wants to go away from lfc, i think it is his choice, by then we should be attractive for others to come.

QUOTE
Liverpool have enjoyed a consistent start to the season and the result lifted them to second in the standings, but Sturridge refused to get too carried away.

Questioned on whether they were genuine title contenders, he said: "It is early days. We will take every game as it comes. That is the most important thing, worrying about the here and now and not the future."

thats quite right. we still have a lot of work. luckily sturridge is giving no aspas type of answer whistling.gif

wow, didn't expect to see this

yup ugly win, pun will take it.

We may have YET to put a decent convincing performance this beginning of the season despite our lofty position. As for know i hope our management will string together their books in the hope to squeeze a decent proper midfielder (cant expect courtino even after injury to be at his level best). Else it will be murdered even before we can say january.

We have a slight momentum (being amongst the leaders, luck or otherwise), not a lot, just 1-2 bad games & we will find ourselves in 6-7 position easily. (yup its early, its close)

QUOTE(bearbear @ Sep 30 2013, 12:51 PM)
Would like to see how the team perform when the likes of Johnson and Coutinho are back.

3-5-2 with Coutinho in the middle supporting Suarez and Sturridge.

I suppose with the lack of 'quality' midfielders, i suppose rodger's is wising up (or no choice) not to play tiki-taka. Doesn't matter, it shows he is not stupid [i]stubborn[/bi].
Yes, we'll have to make do with what's on the plate.

It may not be ideal 'plan B' (or a plan B to some) but it much better than having idealistic-text-book-ideas how to play football. He does get some other managers laughing last season, but i'm seeing his is wising up with less 'grandeur talk' & allow our result/wins speak for themselves.

Yeah, we will still be critical of some of the strange players position, at least 'lfc fans can remind him' we are watching for you (team on your toes) instead of just sitting around during football games with a prawn sandwich on our mouth. tongue.gif

yup. i laugh when i saw my friend posted it. somehow tried to link earlier, it showed 'error' & the image doesn't come up. (hence the several edits)

but yah, despite how 'unconvincing wins' it may be that we are where we are, I was nice to see the "race". BR face is quite apt there. tongue.gif

joking aside.

photo speak volumes. the pressure is enormous to manage a big club. moyes is a decent manager. to manage the expectations from fergie's legacy is the most difficult job.

u mean BR has no pressure? having to manage shankly, paisley, fagan, dalglish biggrin.gif

between the two, i think moyes is greater. for one, we have gone thru the storm & seen the worse, almost fighting for relegation.

...they haven't

i cannot imagine what will happen when they are at the bottom 3 at the table.

For now, for the premiership, the leading standout candidates are ozil/arsenal and Juan mata/chelsea

IF indeed we are in the line for mario, Then it may appear there might be truth to the rumour, we are selling suarez. (eventually)

i.e. same situation as was in reina (probably).

QUOTE(skeleton202 @ Oct 4 2013, 05:51 AM)
if we cant beat crystal palace then forget top 6 dream... struggle united can beat 'em
*
I think crystal palace shouldn't be too difficult (just above sunderland at the foot of the table), compared to sunderland. sunderland did give arsenal early jitters in their game together & the lost a manager beforehand prior our encounter with them. (Sometimes they may have a lot to prove, losing a manager).

ManU isn't coping as fast in their manager transition, which was a good thing we played them early in the season, hence our win. We can see their play was a little chaotic & the league shows. Granted they have tough teams games at the start of the season, so you then look how they cope in CL. A seeded team not even yielding results. They should eventually come back, as in typical ManU.

But between the top teams in transition, Manu are the worse of the lot. (they know that). Who knows they are the one who might lose out to CL spot (amongst the big teams), it is up to us to steal it if we are still in positive position come 3rd quarter. I know spurs & everton are within a shout too. (i don't see arsenal, chelsea missing out, Mancity, good manager but not tested in PL, so he may have to adapt quicker, he is lucky his squad is 'better' overall compared to manu)

A deserved victory but most fans would be disappointed at how they took their foot off the gas.

Might turn into an advantage later on? look at this way, we haven't played the big guns yet, season is long. we haven't the "best'est" overall squad amongst the clubs within a fighting chance for top 4.

who knows. could be

though against big clubs we can't switch off.

Better score first half and pancit 2nd half than 0-0 first half and panic attack in 70minutes onwards. We usually never win if we dont score early on.
*
We will have our chance soon come next month when the real test against tougher teams. Would be a huge test if we can reply if the opposition scores first. We may have SSS blitzerg in the first half, hopefully it will unsettled them & enough damage

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Oct 8 2013, 09:35 AM)
Good write up on the improving Jordan Henderson.

http://www.empireofthekop.com/anfield/2013...matthewcotton3/

The lad received a lot of flack for some underwhelming performances under King Kenny who thrust him immediately into the first team. Brendan Rodgers deserves some credit for relegating him to the bench and easing him into the first eleven again. Despite pressures of living up to his price tag he has shown good mental strength to play through the doubt and criticism levied against him, and has delivered some fine performances this season.
*
i think he (henderson) reinvented himself, he was told there was an offer for him (probably maybe told he was already a surplus) but henderson din not to take that option to leave liverpool and fought back & earn his stripes. that's the fighting spirit.

He could be a great central figure for us in years to come
