Pastore can play the deep-lying midfield role as well. Just saying.
*
He could but i think his best position is behind the striker like when he played with Palermo. His form deteriorated at PSG where Ancelloti tried to deploy him as a DLP. He now has lost that position to Verratti.

There's no way we'll get Ross Barkley. He's a blue through and through. Tiote is a beast tho. That kind of muscle in midfield is what we need.

but its not depend on player form..
lucas-gerrard pair need real backup and real competition..i mean quality replacement.
see how much quality in depth in our central defender position than cm??

spurs got paulinho,dembele,sandro,capue
chelsea..ramires,mikel,essien
city..garcia,yaya,fernandinho..
arsenal..arteta,flamini,diaby..

only MU are worse than us.
*
Agreed. They need competetion. The rise of Lucas came from him being at the bottom of the pecking order. He had to put in a tremendous shift of effort to get to where he is now. He needs someone to challenge him for that spot. Gerrard is in the same pit with him so that leaves the injured Allen and Hendo who is also struggling to find his form.

if you compare with what kenny and roy did then BR is a massive success.all our best performers this season have been BR's buys.Toure,mignolet,sturridge.
Who are our poor performers this season? Gerrard, lucas, henderson.None of whom BR bought.

Getting suarez to stay itself was a big success.
Never in recent times has a liverpool manager been able to stop a star player from leaving.
Rafa couldnt stop owen or alonso leaving, roy couldn't stop mascherano leaving and kenny couldn't stop torres leaving.
*
Rafa played his part stopping Gerrard from leaving in 05 and later on in 07. He also talked Masch into staying one or two seasons longer when the player just didn't want to stay in England. We signed Suarez under Kenny, god knows where we'd be today without Suarez.

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Oct 3 2013, 10:56 AM)
I think the problem with BR is he just won't drop Gerrard. I was especially perplexed that he allowed Stevie to play 120 minutes against Notts County. I could see BR's logic in needing his leadership but truth it, we ought to prepare for life without Stevie. Hendo, for me is playing like how a CM would if he was thrown into the wings. Occasionally he would come up with the goods, a lot of time he would struggle. Give him a chance in his natural role and if he still is inconsistent, we will see.

As for Lucas, it was strange we didn't try to go for someone like Gareth Barry. He would have made a decent DM backup. IMO, I'm less worried about Lucas needing competition than him not being able to achieve his old form after the injuries.
*
It's an accident waiting to happen. Obviously i'm not wishing that to happen to our captain but remember what Kenny did to Lucas ? The player never gets injured so Kenny played him week in week out. Played like 3 games a week including international and then the inevitable happened. This was a young and fit midfielder destroyer. Never been the same again. That 09-11 Lucas was a great player, i really hope he finds his form again.

I hope so too..but lets get real, if real come knocking, suarez will go. Doesn't matter if we were in CL spot or not. But I trust FSG and BR to do their best to stop that move but its gonna be hard.

I don't know how Levy does his business but he's a shrewd operator. Sold Keane, Carrick, Berbatov, Modric and Bale over the years and Spurs are still growing from strength to strength. There's a lesson to be learned here.

growing from strength to strength? or just making full use of LFC's scouting dept to find replacements? tongue.gif
the only trophy spurs has won in the last 10yrs is a sole league cup...i dont think any fan would want to be a part of that.
*
Trophies don't always tell the full story. Wigan won a trophy last season and got relegated. My point is that there's a continuity at Spurs despite them having to sell their star players on almost regular basis. In contrast, our club has struggled each time we've sold our key players.

In a way our predicament is comparable to Spurs. They too chopped and changed their managers but it never seem to destablize them that much.

3-5-2 is one the few formations that will allow Saurez, Sturridge and Coutinho to play in their natural positions. Suarez and Sturridge up top. Coutinho in the hole as the no 10.

You can't do it with 433 or 4231 without shifting one of those players out wide.

3-5-2 and 3-4-1-2 always been good when you have all the respective players in the respective position, simply said that they must be real good in their position, then this formation could be deadly.

So far our 3 defenders doing a good job, but not great. The attackers doing good. But our midfield and the wing back is not at their best, and not doing their best too.

Having said that, 4-3-3 still my favourite formation, been using it in my football games all the time.  biggrin.gif
*
Yeah we're still missing few players to make it work effectively. Mainly the lack of no 10 and potent wingbacks. Recently i started playing fm13 again and the 352 with direct passing is deadly. I turned Lamela into a Kuyt lol. Except he actually score goals and beat his fullback.

What I meant by my post back there "The attackers doing good" were included Coutinho in it.

How could you use Lamela instead of Aspas..  mad.gif ...... laugh.gif
*
Yeah i got that. Was just saying that the formation won't be as fluid until we get our fullbacks and the injured Cout back into the team. Aspas has decent stats for a striker but his volatile temperament is a no no in my team. Suarez is already a handful, already thinking about selling him because he infuriates me. He got redcarded few times already for simulation. Great player but i really can't trust him unfortunately.

Good game but nervy second half as per usual. Tho we nearly punished them on the counter a few times. The SaS chemistry is just amazing and will only get better in time.

The boys did the right thing in slowing things down. There's no need to charge up all your energy and risk injury in the 2nd half.

The game is won. Simple as that.

A job well done except for that poor marking which we conceded a goal. That proves why Mama is important now. Cuts out so many set piece threat.

The intent is understandable but we need to improve on the execution. Unless you keep possession, the opponents will try to increase the tempo. Having said that, BR did try to manage it better by bringing in Alberto and Agger. They are both tidy and confident on the ball.

It's a squad game. We need everyone to chip in especially the midfielders. I think Lucas needs a rest every now and then, he's never been an athletic type of player and he lost a bit of pace (there wasn't much to begin with) since his injuries. But his reading of the game and mental resilience is very valuable.

Hendo played well and there's no surprises there to be honest. His energy makes him a solid player in midfield. But it's against fast moving opponents that will really test him. Crystal Palace offered very little movement and didn't really press our midfield. The likes of Spurs, Arsenal etc will test his mental resilience and his ability to spot the danger before it happens.

Around this time last season, everyone was raving about Sterling. He is an 18 year old kid. Budak kecik both mentally and physically smile.gif And the fact that we've chopped and changed systems (from 433 to 4231 to 352) makes it even harder for him to settle. Tactical understanding comes with age and experience.

I saw Bale played against A. Madrid and he was a headless chicken. And that's an experienced 85mil winger.
