Received my phone yesterday by self pickup smile.gif

May I know how to use the windows button as notification light?
And also when u swipe to the left and will see a bunch of our app, why we can only use the magnifier instead of using the alphabetic to search?
*
The alphabetic search will only appear after you installed more than 40 apps.

Why don't you guys use Flickr? It is much easier to manage the full resolution.

I have no idea. I do not have a WP8 phone. tongue.gif
But it's very easy to share full reso pics from my 808PV.

Eh.. can view without login what! I see you're lazy to click and find out too. tongue.gif It's the full 36MP file, If I resize I can embed it straight, but I don't want to do that.
*
Weird. It needed login. I did click it to find out...if not I wouldn't know what.

Finally, someone with 808PV experience posted 1020PV samples here. Those pics you uploaded here seem to have lesser noise than expected. They are taken straight out from the phone without PP?
Actually what is your take about image quality vs 808PV?
Two things that I noticed 1020PV doing a better job that 808PV are OIS and manual focus (macro focusing with 808PV can be a PITA).

QUOTE(hox @ Oct 4 2013, 03:06 PM)
yup, right from the camera...no post-processing

the OIS is huge when comes to image sharpness even for daylight shot. I have alot of 808 shots that are out of focus when view at 100% crop. Manual focus is faster and more accurate too. The 4.5" screen also helps a lot.
*
Your 808 shots are out of focus or blurry? Two diff things.
I had tried 920's manual focus and it's great. Wish my 808PV has it too haha.

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 4 2013, 03:14 PM)
Those are outdoor daylight shots, plus you need to view in full resolution to see more clearly.
But it's great to have the ability to control shutter speed, which is what I always wanted in 808PV.

As hox mentioned, another great improvements is the "focusing speed", and I think focusing as well from my short test. 808PV sometimes or quite often, unable to lock focus, gives you red box. When I tested the L1020, seems like OK, but need current 808PV and L1020 users to confirm.
*
Those are taken from 5MP files I think. Need to see the full resolution file which I think 808PV is cleaner (except in low light?).
Yeah one thing I don't like in 808PV is the focusing performance. Even the infinite focus distance is not perfect.

blurry because out of focus hehe

its actually both blurry of movement without OIS and out of focus due to failure to have proper focus lock.

btw, the super wide angle us really great for architecture and interior shots.

just found the setting to lower screen saturation, lowered 2 notches and the colors are more accurate now.
*
Didn't notice that 1020PV's lens is wider by 2mm focal length.
BTW, do you still have your 808PV with you?

I'm noob in photography, ISO, shutter speed a bit alien to me.

So if just point and shoot, this phone good?
Indoors and low light conditions..

Time for me to get back a try for WP after i sold my L800 last year.
*
I believe one can't go very far with only PnS/Auto mode, unless they use filters like Instragram etc. Sure the photo will look fine in 1020 in terms of noise etc. compared to other smart phones, but still...the phone will never know how you want to express yourself. It is no psychic. smile.gif

There is one Google app that I think is not perfect yet in WP8 is the Google Talk/Hangout. It just so happened that my circle of close friends are all on Gtalk.
AFAIK, all the third party Gtalk apps in WP7.8 needs re-connection everytime you resume from background. Not sure if there's any improvement in WP8.

seriously, to my eyes, day recording, it is on par with iPhone and Samsung...I'm not a fan boy. i tried to take inside the mummy ride and Spielberg studio, with really minimal lighting. well, i can't capture anything worth playing.. but then, seriously, do you have in hand a lumia 1020? ..its a camera phone, not an absolute camera phone. it does a good job, but it still come with limitation..
*
Bro....if it's almost total darkness, then even a DSLR with APSC sensor also cannot record anything useful la. Only full sized sensor can do it. But then again, "minimal lightning" is a subjective term. Not sure how dark it is.

Good job bro. I particularly like the blue sky tone in this pic! I wonder why I can't capture such nice blue tone in Msia... is it because we have too much clouds? lol

Why my 1020 unable to do close focus, the photo became blurry? Whereas I use my 720, it can focus perfectly.
*
Larger sensor size needs longer min. focus distance. DSLR with APSC sized sensor needs somewhere around 30cm lol.

I can't help but think that the post processing algo is the culprit behind the long shot-to-shot delay. Which reinforces my wish for the post processing to be optional.

I tried out the Z1's camera and was amazed how much faster it was. The image quality itself, however... tongue.gif
*
Yes post processing surely require some time. However, I believe a big portion of those time could be due to the full resolution JPEG conversion.

Good point. But is it slow because we are saving the full res image? Or is it the other way around (compressing the image into 5mp)?

The Xperia Z1 saves the 21MP image and is still buttery smooth. Is it a limitation of our dual core processors? I wouldn't be surprised if Lumia 1520 took photos much much faster. sad.gif
*
Snapdragon 800 is more than twice faster than MSM8960. Coupled with lower resolution, I'm not surprised if Z1 takes less than a second.

How the 1520 will fare is going to be interesting.

Yes. I can verify that the L1020's focus is indeed faster and has much higher success rate than 808PV. Like you, my 808PV is hard to focus.

Imaging enhancements and more come to the Lumia 1020 in latest firmware update

The Lumia 1020 is still king of the hill for Windows Phone until the Lumia 1320 and Lumia 1520 officially arrive in the hands of consumers. The beastly 41 megapixel phone launched in July, but hasn’t seen too many updates. It already came preloaded with GDR2 and many users put Update 3 on it through the Microsoft Developer Preview Program. Today, some users are reporting an update for their Lumia 1020. Let’s check it out.

The update so far is appearing for Lumia 1020’s in the UK and Portugal, but not here in the United States. If you do check for updates on your Lumia 1020 (settings -> phone update -> check for updates) and see an update for your 1020, do let us know your region.

The update we’re seeing will bring your phone to firmware version number 3030.0000.1338.1001. According to the Nokia support page, these are the changes by this update:

Imaging enhancements
Touch functionality improvements
Performance and stability improvements

Fairly vague descriptions, but play around in those areas and let us know if you notice anything specifically different. So far, we’re not seeing noticeable differences.

Are you on GDR3 and had updated to Nokia Camera?
I just installed Nokia Camera but I do not have much experience with ProCam (only played with it for a few shots). The image quality seems to be softer. Not sure why.

Procam image quality noticeably better than Smartcam mode even with auto mode. Manual lagi batter.
*
Really? I noticed once I took a pic, the preview will show a sharper image...then post processing it, and end up with a softer final image.
Having said that, the 808PV is better in every imaging departments except manual focus and image stabilization.
