QUOTE(apple23 @ Jun 2 2006, 11:12 PM) So if one suggest that you inject yourself with aids to make yourself grow stronger do you:-1)wiki to find out more info about AIDS. 2)Ask the people on the forums on where one could obtain it. To summarize my point don't jump into conclusions and make a fool out of yourself. Steroid is bad unless your perscribed by the doctor. |

I've got a friend who's on steroids for medical purposes. He's BIG now. He's also very very FAT. If you want to take steroids, be sure to have an intensive training regimen to turn all that extra weight into muscle. Not as convenient as it sounds eh? Don't forget all the medical risks associated with steroid use like kidney damage and long term health probs.

steroids can also cause kidney and liver failures, heart problems and shrinking of the family jewels.
also theres some videos on the internet showing how steroid abuse(very common, once people start, they get addicted to the quick muscle mass build up) can cause muscles to explode. This post has been edited by malaysianPotato: Jun 3 2006, 01:41 AM |

i agree, if you're prescribed steroids for medicinal purposes then by all means take the steroids. but if you're just looking to get fit faster or want to try them out for the heck of it(btw thats how 90% of all drug addicts and smokers get hooked), then just avoid it.
why risk turning your jewels into prunes over steroids if all you're taking them for is to try or to speed up body building. |

Look at this stupid thread! We have young people looking for the use of anabolic steroids. And some are saying it's ok to take it. Yeah sure, let's all ignore the long term side effects. Let's all cheat our way the build huge muscles the easy way and suffer later in life.
I'm a natural bodybuilder and i'm aware of the shit steroids do to your body. Not to mention the fact that I had a second degree friend who wa sa competitor in bodybuilding who died at the age of 29 years old due to a heart attack. Seems that he was a steroid user/abuser. Gynaecomastia, acromegaly, hepatomegaly, liver failure, kidney failure, heart failure, etc etc. Just to name a few. You wanna get muscles, do it the plain old fashioned way with proper exercise and good healthy clean food. You don't need Vitamin S to get 17 inch arms. |

Instead of taking steroid n abuse ur future why not taking protein rich foods more! I also firmly believe that u don't need to go to gym for 6 days a week, it will make ur muscle injured the best way is 3 times a week, one day go n one day off juz repeat it... Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun, Tue, Thur, Sat... and so on. This will help ur muscle grow consistently and enough rest! Don't focus on the number of repeating of every exe but focus on quality, some guys repeat up to 50 times but better do it slow, n let ur muscle enjoy it not suffer with the exe! 10 times n two/three session for every exe Yes, there is no magic way! well good things dont come for free
if u take steroid u will gain muscle and body size but bear in mind it will cost you something else... the steroid actually makes a fake impulse which subtitutes the brain impulse and send it to the endocrine that produce hormone and stimulate more hormones to increase your muscle but in the process that is supposed to be sent to your testicle will be lessen and thus in long time term u will suffer from erectile dysfunction early |

anabolic steroid mimics testosterone by binding to steroid hormone receptor proteins.
the abundance of testosterone synthetic or otherwise signals your balls not to make testosterone. your body is an efficient machine in conserving its resources. if you don't use it, you lose it. steroid doesn't send impulse or make or whatever stimulate endocrine to produce more hormones, if it does, you will be increasing your libido not ruining it. enough misinformation. stop pulling facts out of your arse. ^ yup.. true..
anabolic steroid mimic testosterone bind to the ur testes and that will feedback negatively to ur endocrine system (i.e. hypothalamus and pituitary gland) inhibiting production of stimulating/releasing hormone. These hormone basically cause release of testosterone from the body.. continuous exposure to testosterone cause protein production and interfere with other breaking down metabolism.. hence the anabolic effect.. it will not cause erectile dysfunction but will cause libido and infertility |

QUOTE(bellatrix @ Jun 7 2006, 02:21 PM) Don't have too much time ler darklight, just thought that i should tell him he got his info wrong haha. Hehe. You have too much time you monkey! My lecturer uses the word Cushing's syndrome too ,i don't think youngkies is wrong btw Anyway, i understand what you're getting at. But you see, Cushing's syndrome is due an excessive endogeous production of glucocorticoids, mainly hydrocortisone. Pituitary dependent Cushing's syndrome is the commonest form of endogenous hypercorticism, accounting to more than 2/3rds of all cases. An adrenal adenoma accounts for up to 20% and carcinoma (which may be bilateral) 5 per cent. There's also non ACTH dependent primary adrenocortical hyperplasia, but i won't go there yet. Alcoholism can also be considered. These are pathophysiological aspects of Cushing's syndrome. Cushinoid's syndrome however, is caused by chronic corticosteroid use. The clinical symptoms like i said are similar to Cushing's syndrome, but less. However, in it's most typical form, it's exogenous, and seen in patients treated with large doses of cortisone over long periods for nonendocrine diseases, partcularly rheumatoid arthritis and in patients receiving transplants. I guess in some medical texts, they are used to describe the same thing. |

It's a matter of semantics yeah, but i'm in contact with HOD's and specialists in various departments, Medicine, Surgery, etc. That term is still used. iatrogenic cushing syndrome is cushing syndrome caused by drugs.. anyway watever term also the same la.. Plus I've made enquiries with my father who's been practicing for more than 20 years. I pretty much make sure or else i wouldn't state it here. |
