Hello all, humble greeting from Preve thread! blush.gif

Just want to remind you, do ask your SA to give you the SD card containing maps and POI for the GPS. Three out of four of my friends and colleagues had problem with the GPS (app crash), when they brought to service centers, they found out the SD cards were not present, which their SA should have given them when they collected their cars.

Thanks, forgot about that. Updated 1st post smile.gif

Ok, here are my gripes. Day 2:

1. Alarm/Panic button too big and easy to press. I have mistakenly pressed the alarm while the key is in the pocket. Few times mistaken the panic button for the lock button.

Solution: Make the alarm button more indented in future, or remove it altogether for the boot release button like high end cars.

2. Navigation mode: "Speed limit exceeded". This is annoying. GPS itself is actually pretty good. The voice, is a real person. That "speed limit exceeded is annoying especially the way I drive...will always exceed. 30km school area already exceeded.

Solution: Finding a way to root and install waze.

3. Personally i don't mind the clock, however, the clock design is the same font RTM used for news in the 80's and 90's. The same design tongue.gif

Improvements:

The next thing Proton has to change just to make product feel more upmarket: Glovebox. Honda Accord recycles its glove box like some 2 generations back. Same shape, same function. The main gripe is actually when closing it-have the ability to actually slam the glove box rather than opening the lever to avoid wear and tear at the hinge area. Spend another RM10 (at manufacturing level) at this area to improve the latch mechanism.

I don't mind all other buttons recycled from original Perdana from 95. Proton can sort of get away with that. They worked well enough.

There is a lot of space to add boot release symbol at the remote key fob (next to the unlock symbol) on the same button. People tend to forget that the unlock button does 2 things. Having a boot symbol with a small "3s>" helps a long way. Another thing about boot release feature is that sometimes you just want to unlock the boot without unlocking the car. Pressing 3 secs does not bypass the car unlocking mechanism. So while pressing for 3 secs, the car will unlock then only will the boot release. On higher end cars, the boot release button only opens the boot without unlocking the car. I think it is a simple remapping of the remote system to just open the boot without unlocking the car. I don't know how long the folding mirrors last, but that 5 year warranty is good to have. On another note, if the mirrors are not folded, your car is unlocked laugh.gif

These are more nitpicking after coming down from higher end product.

Also, my periodic inspection is coming out at 47 KM on odometer. Anyway to remove that myself or must I go to the SC?

Hi guys, newbie here. I'm very very interested in getting myself a Suprima S. In fact, I've test driven it for 3 times, hehe... The only thing holding me up from booking the car is that I'm worried about the reliability of the CVT transmission. I've no doubt about the 5 years warranty by Proton, but I plan to keep the car for at least 7 years (until my last installment).

I've driven only manual cars since getting my driving license 13 years ago. I enjoy driving on twisty roads and always downshift a gear when entering a hard corner. In the Suprima maybe I need to downshift 2 gears.

So my question is, do you think the Punch VT3 gearbox is reliable enough with frequent downshift for at least 7 years?

To truly answer the question, need to come back ask the same question next 7 years laugh.gif Or, wait until 1st person reports engine failure, or someone from Proton can answer how many KM they did endurance on the car. I don't think I will ever exceed the 180k km in the car's warranty period.

Can other suprima S confirm with me:
Is there suppose to be a hole at the refuelling area when you open the fuel filler cap? On some cars, even after you open the fuel cap, the refilling metal area is closed with some sort of plastic/rubber and when you insert the nozzle, it will push the plastic/rubber bit to open.

Thanks

sweat.gif Sorry about that.

Thanks.

Will there will be a Xenon headlamp option in future, based on the headlamp levelling switch in the manual?

Another question to owners, how do you enable the follow home light?

Manual say:

When ignition switch is at ACC position or when the key is removed from ignition switch, within 10 mins, turn the headlight combination lever from off to another position and back to off within 2 secs, headlight will be turned on for 30 secs if all doors are closed.

So this follow home light is only 30 secs?

I still have the "periodic inspection" even after first service. the authorised bengkel said, i need to go to proton official kedai to update the ECU.

Have anyone done their first service. I used fully synthetic oil. and the mechanic said the next service should be done in 10k interval. if I used semi synthetic, have to service every 5k. which one is better actually?

Thanks.

The SA mentioned this to me as well. Which oil better? Which service better? 10k or 5k?

Thought i am not a owner of Suprima, I am still very interested with this model.

To owner, do you think the back seat of the car is a little bit small? I personally try it during test drive, it doesn't seems spacious for ppl who sit behind.

blink.gif First service use fully synthetic already?

Personal opinion on which engine oil:
1) Travel a lot and reach 5k ~ 10k KM easily within specified months -> Semi or fully
2) Don't travel a lot and thus reducing the amount of mileage that will be accumulated within service interval or so -> Semi synthetic

Well, at least just add another boot symbol next to the unlock symbol. biggrin.gif

Another reason for the independent boot release is to prolong the wing mirror motor. A lot of people go shopping, buy stuff, put in boot, then go somewhere else. Sometimes it is just to put stuff in car before going on journey. The only good side I note is that, if wing mirror is not folded = car not locked.

While at it, add another RM100 to the manufacturing process of the glove box for the texture biggrin.gif . The problem with the glove box is that it is one big object directly in front of the passenger. For side wall, can get away with the hard plastic, something glaring in front not so. The soft rubber material on the dash so nice already with the good silver trim, ruined by the plastic glove box (taken from persona or was it savvy IINM?). Cost can be balanced (cut) by making the dash 2 types of material, soft rubber nearer to passengers, hard plastic nearer to front window though need to be very careful don't get the fit & finishing wrong with the gaps between the two parts. Another problem with introducing hard plastic is the NVH. The original perdana (before the original v6 and the alfadana nose) has better material than the v6. Better leather, quieter too. Last version Perdana models came with hard plastic and poorer material for doors/console than original ones. Same with Satria GTi. Original Satria GTi is way better than the ones at EOL which came with poorer radio system, awful polka-dot plastic trim at console and a 190 km/h speed limiter. First gen GTi had no speed limiter way better interior.

The other problem with swapping different material is the material thickness. When the car arm rest is configured properly for one set of materials, say leather, then replace with plastic shell, will make the arm rest shorter than previously, ruining the ergonomics of the car. Case point-original perdana with proper leather vs plastic on v6 models. Can swap, need to maintain the ergonomics.

FL version should change the boot release from hook type switch to just button switch. Not a lot of people know/notice that the boot release is electronic. If the same force applied like standard boot release, I can see alot of people returning their SS for switch repairs.

Instant mod to make your better with NVH is actually to line the door bins with rubber/or thin sponge like material on the surface and the side walls. When you put items in there, there don't knock about in the bins making the car noisy. Newest golf has this spongy thing.

Sorry for being picky. This what happens when you drive a lot of conti and jap D segment cars laugh.gif

On another note, I seriously do think there is a market for upgrades like this mini, especially if it does not void your warranty and provided straight from car manufacturer:
http://paultan.org/2013/09/04/mini-now-off...on-headlamp-kit

Same reason why I think, most people will buy the 79k. It is seen as value and that 3k difference is negligible. There may be a market for comfort package accessories rather than just R3 accessories..especially when the roads are jam packed with vehicles anyway.

1. i was anticipating a cooler tailight.

2. the backseat size is ok. on par with cerato, forte, altis.
wider than myvi, jazz ge & pug208.

hope this helps: http://farghmee.wordpress.com/2013/09/02/r...ima-s-interior/
