Those teh tarik hooks for example, is an example of finesse. Hopefully there is a tester working on the finesse part in Proton.

VW golf for example makes a higher groove at the rear left and right passenger seat, so that when you fold the chairs, the belt does not get in the way of the folded chair. Indenting the plastic bit does not cost much, but it is thoughtful.

.....

Proton has a habit of making the first gen product super great (good materials), then after few revisions, the material quality actually decreases.
*
Highlighting two points that I completely agree.

There are some stuffs you find in other cars that may look useless or not very noticeable, but you can appreciate the extra thought that went into the design.

I saw a SS the other night, the first time I see the rear of the car with the rear lights on. That L shape light seems to be too small and too thin for it's purpose.

Preve's rear lamps are just a pair of lines too, but them are thicker. hmm.gif

original intended preve spec n price :-), i think why it is limited, just to survey market acceptance with the price bracket. but it seems many responded as its is pricely. herm, really hard to be a proton, but thats the challenge. hope vw up challenger will be better acceptance, that is one of the benchmark for new baby. nearly same body style coz up also derive from emas :-).
*
Most Malaysians are clueless, can't differentiate between segments. Just because it is sold at the same price as Vios automatically makes it a Vios competitor.

Typical response of Malaysias "Buy Preve/Suprima? Buy Vios better lah!"

The only reason to install a wind visor is to open the windows a bit in heat, in case of rain. I don't see other points.

How does a heat visor can remove mist, decrease wind noise, reduce car temperature?
*
Remove mist on the windscreen during cold weather by allowing you to open your window slightly to equalize the temperature outside and inside the car. Reduce car temperature because it blocks a bit of the sun. It also allows you to open a bit of window so you can smoke while driving in the rain sweat.gif

As for reduce wind noise, I think it might actually increase wind noise due to additional turbulence whistling.gif

Then by itself, it cannot reduce mist. Still need window to function. Still misleading  tongue.gif

But personally, I won't bother to add lar unless your previous car had them and you have a habit of leaving a sliver of opening often, or you like the aesthetics.

I enquired directly to Kristof of Punch Powertrain about the improvements on the VT3. My questions were forwarded to his colleague Fikeri Yusof. the following is the email exchange

QUOTE
Hi Kristof,

I understand the new Suprima S is using VT3+, an upgraded version of the VT3 used in Preve and Exora.

Can you elaborate on the improvements implemented on the new VT3+ compared to the older VT3?

Thanks!

Regards,
****

There was a couple of intermediate email exchange but due to irrelevance I will omit them here. The next relevant email is below

QUOTE
Hey ****, your answer will be in tomorrow. We dont have any secrets and the more malaysia knows what we are doing, especially improving, the better! So no issue in sharing. Have you testdriven the suprima, offcoarse i did, huge difference with preve! Car build up quality is way better, a lot of lessons learned taken into account. Allthough i have to say that the vt3+ Is also adopted in the newly produced preve and preve will take over a lot of suprima quality as well.

Regards

Kristof

QUOTE
Dear ****,

VT3+ found in Suprima S is base on VT3 found in Preve CFE and Exora CFE,the changes that we made is redesign the gear geometry of secondary gear side to reduce whining sound of it.Number of teeth also different but final ratio of each transmission is still the same.TCU calibration also different due to number of teeth and new Cal on Suprima S is more responsive compared to Preve.

But on the same time,Proton also did lots of upgrade to absorb the whining sound.Like new design trans mounting, additional brace inside front fender, thicker padding at firewall and few more which I not remember.

Hope the answer is fine for you.Thanks.

Regards,
Fikeri Yusof

So as you guys can see the improvements is not only software, but also the mechanical parts. Kudos to the team for answering my questions so thoroughly when other carmakers will probably shrug me off.

Goes to show Proton is not ready to rest on it's achievement with the CFE+CVT powertrain design.

Does anyone know why the plastic grille next to the front fog lights have slightly different pattern for the left and right fog light? The left car fog light seems to be deeper, while the right fog light on the car is shallower. Here is a pic.
http://paultan.org/2013/08/28/driven-proto..._s_review_-021/

In the brochure it hows both are shallow (right side version)

Yes..kinda lame..
Rm8k more than premium variant just for skirting n r3 rim..
*
There is a reason why Preve LE and Suprima R3 exists : to allow dealers to markup for 100% loan.

Did anyone not notice Preve LE is RM7k more expensive than Preve Premium, and Suprima R3 is RM8k more expensive than Suprima R3? they are both 10% more expensive than the Premium variants.

Looks like blue is quite popular, which I also like. Kinda reminds me of the Focus ST.

The SA even told me to paint the rims to gold to make it looks like Subaru doh.gif

Lol no lah bro. I mean rm5-7k difference is not very big and significant for long term loan. Mana ada banyak duit. Currently I'm just driving a kelisa. But I need to pass my car to my little sister bcoz  she still studying. Thus here I am thinking of buying a new car.

Im a fresh grad, just started working in oil and gas industry, so the pay is quite ok if not good, so wanna pamper myself a bit with buying a car for myself. Orang muda bro.  biggrin.gif

And yes, one of the reason why i like suprima becoz not so many people using it yet. Very rare car to see on the road even in KL. Even me myself when I see Suprima drive pass thru me,I was like WOW, nice car. Lol.  thumbup.gif
