Hi Everyone!!

Anyone using Goodyear Duraplus 185/60R14?

Can pls confirm if it has 2 (TWO) Sidewall plies or juz ONLY 1 ?

Why?
Cos me saw @a shop got different values embossed on the sidewalls of different tyres of the SAME model...
Now, which is correct?

Googled but no results of such specs for this tyre model...
The Assurance has 2 sidewall plies...Mich XM2 has only 1 tho...

Was offered 4 pc Duraplus for RM 680 incl new valves, balancing & alignment...
Out of the 4 pcs, found 1 pc with different info on sidewall lo...
Now dunno which info is true...

At last query, quoted RM210...@beginning of year!
Din ask if incl new valves, etc.
Also only 1 Mich dealer nearby...

This GY dealer is ole fren...hv been using his services (tyres & batt3) since my ole gen Saga days.
Din expect 2find that kind of discrepancy la..so din chk that aspect. Me juz chk 2make sure new & all same prod date nia.
Kinda feel he not kno also...

Sincere Apologies but me hv found myself very often in the centre of controversies...

Cld anyone (who stays near a tyre shop or knows a fren in a tyre shop) pls help me 2chk if Goodyear Duraplus 185/60R14 tyres come with Sidewall stated 2b of 1 or 2 Polyester plies?
Feel kinda strange 2hv different tyres of same make/model being embossed with such a clear discrepancy...

Yr kind & helpful act wld b most appreciated.

UPDATE :

Me juz back fr tyre shop where me got the GY Duraplus...
After showing the discrepancy, the owner told me afahk & then showed me 14" passenger tyres hv only 1 sidewall ply...even the 14" Michs he had in his shop!!
Then we chk-ed another new Duraplus & it was also 1 ply.

As he was also juz as curious, he took off 1 by 1 of my car's new Duraplus & chked the reverse/inner sidewall embossed info.

Guess what?

The ones with info of 1 sidewall ply had same 1 ply info on their inner walls....
Best was when we chked the tyres with info of 2 plies on outer sidewalls...they had info of ONLY ONE (1) sidewall ply!!

So...what conclusion can one make here?

YOU tell me...

ps. Wonder wat the Supervisors/QC ppl @factory are doing?

Ya lo, Bros...

The tyre shop guy & me came 2same conclusion...namely the embossing of wrong info was a "technical" error!!
Someone (mayb more than 1 guy?) din do his job as he should hv...

ps. Btw a quick/short review of these Duraplus donuts...not bad...considering...
Quieter than the Ducaros my Gaga came with...mayb still very new?
Other aspects? Will update later...

Finally felt having new "shoes" (altho not so good as other makes/models) on my Gaga better than keeping old worn out "shoes" lo...
At least until such time as when the pocket ican allow...

ps. If Ducaros still got, me wld hv juz bought 2 new Ducaros...within my budget ATM.
However, that was not possible...
So kinda hv 2sign4 all 4 new Duraplus instead... pay only nxt mth lo...

Believe it or not...the day started with a couple of heavy showers!!

Anyway, juz2share what can even happen 2s major branded tyre production...



Probably a few ppl in the factory were negligent...
1. Guy i/c of changing info in that part of the mould;
2. Supervisor who didn't chk everything in order b4 start production;
3. QC guy who closed both his eyes & passed the products!
And, of course, TOP management oblivious of goings-on and wondering why GY sales not doing well....

ps. The production batch dated same for both, namely 1613 ie 16th week of 2013.

Firstly GY wld b 1st 2produce such a tyre!! That is, a tyre with 2 plies on outside & only 1 ply on its inside sidewall!

When me re-chked, me got 2 of the "funny" tyres & 2 with 1-ply printed on both sidewalls...

Yup, acc2 tyre shop guy, those with 16" & above come with 2-ply sidewalls. ..

ps. He showed me other makes of 14" (incl 2pc Mich) with only 1 ply...
