managed to play around with the unit for a few hours... and getting myself familiar with the T100 and also Windows 8.1...
i'd say this is the way forward with laptops -- combination of both touch screen + keyboard.
feels kinda light. as for the glossy surface, coming from Dell Mini 10v, its not that much of a different Dell Mini 10v also had that similar glossy casing.
it does feel a bit sluggish at times, but as it is, i'm surprised it can run Windows 8.1 quite well. the lag, is only occasionally, when i was trying to exit Excel and then launch IE.
only thing is still trying to get used to START screen vs DESKTOP screen. both... when you swipe from right, gives you some different options. like DEVICE MANAGER, you get that from DESKTOP screen.
i only wish there's like a FILE MANAGER/ EXPLORER (to find the drives) on START screen. coz as it is... I can live without DESKTOP screen (i only access DESKTOP to get to FILE MANAGER... maybe can find a similar apps later coz only played with it a few hours)
not so nice are the games... Wow... Not that many free games. Heck, even Angry Bird series are not free?!? Asphalt is free on Google, but still need to pay here. I thought MS had lots of money to throw at developers and make their store more 'attractive'. on the plus side, can see some XBOX-labelled games.
setting up account is kinda easy. if only it allowed non-MS accounts, but that's not really a problem coz with emails, you can link Gmail account/ email to MS account (MSN, Outlook.com, etc). so, after creating a local account during initial setup, I migrated to outlook.com account instead. then added Gmail account to the Outlook.com account.
keyboard... its quite decent for small-sized keyboards. i never liked mini keyboards but this is still ok.
i'll probably try out more features later this week when i can get my hands on the unit (it's not mine). wanna try out:
* connecting external harddisk, usb hubs, etc..
* outdoor usage (see how long battery can last)
* gaming <-- just found out Red Alert is made a freeware
* touchpas gestures <-- seems there's a lot that can be done using the touchpad. read that from the manual
speaking of manual... the manual states that the charger output is 2A, though it may look different from one country to another. my unit... the charger does not have any ASUS label.
secondly, its output is rated 3A.can anyone please help confirm this is correct -- charger output is 3A?
the unit i got is a SenHeng unit. so supposed to be official local unit.
