QUOTE(clarkblitz @ Sep 21 2013, 11:26 AM) what bout the fake hang and SOD issue? the processor is a big leap i know can it be fixed permanently? it's unfair to speculate, some unit like mine has none of this issue, so u can test before buy. get perfect ultra = gg.

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Sep 21 2013, 11:59 AM) I think one of the million. You the only one never face it even at .510 firmware. Your is isolated case. i'd say 50-50 coz out of a lot known xzu user in this forum, only a portion complained bout the issue. 2 of my fren using ultra oso no face the probs.

hey peeps...i think it's safe to say the "Optimized backlight" and "Adapt to lighting conditions" which caused some of us facing SOD and fake hang is due to proximity sensor went haywire during startup. if any of you who faced the SOD/fake hang thing, try to recalibrate your proximity sensor with both "Optimized backlight" and "Adapt to lighting conditions" turned off. do post follow up for the results if you tried

QUOTE(clarkblitz @ Sep 22 2013, 11:01 PM) The software will download. Phone will auto restart. Then it will download software again. But while downloading. My phone just off n won't restart adi try some of these don'ts 1. Don't lock your phone with any password/pin/pattern while updating. 2. Don't connect it to your USB 3.0 port. use USB 2.0 instead. 3. Don't panic if anything happen to phone during the progress (reboot, screen go black), only follow instructions of the PC Companion. As long as the progress bar is there, your phone will be fine.

QUOTE(iitadakimas @ Sep 22 2013, 11:10 PM) I don't see Adapt to lighting option on my phone. it's in Brightness settings to re-calibrate, » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « To those who may have proximity issue Pre-requisite: factory data reset 1. Go to Dialer app and type *#*#7378423#*#* (SERVICE) 2. Select 'Calibrations' in the menu. 3. Select 'Proximity sensor'. 4. Untick 'Auto Screen Brightness' and calibrate. ps: this may(no guarantee yet as no people report success) also fix the abnormal behaviour of the Optimize backlight and Auto brightness issue which related to proximity sensor.
i am very sure that the proximity sensor is the culprit and i want u peeps who gonna try it to give feedback on this. no harm trying This post has been edited by thatisazam: Sep 22 2013, 11:15 PM

QUOTE(iitadakimas @ Sep 22 2013, 11:22 PM) Re-calibrating doesn't reset my settings or change anything right? well u can backup those n recover them back if u're worried. a factory reset is recommended before doing the recalibration

QUOTE(iitadakimas @ Sep 23 2013, 12:39 AM) How do I test to see if it's working. when u can no longer produce fake hang / SOD that means it's working the proximity sensor behave very weird when light sensor is idle from optimizing backlight thus cause the fake hang...i don't know if light sensor can be recalibrate or not if the proximity recalibration don't fix the problem. I don't have a buggy XZU to go deeper, however.

QUOTE(iitadakimas @ Sep 24 2013, 09:34 PM) Oh I didn't know you can use Hotmail in Gmail. But I never liked the Gmail app, I find it too sensitive, as in not very nice to swipe around. And the new icons on the left side are so ugly Also you can't mark all, and empty trash grrrrrrr. true that but i got used to it XD it has been almost a year since i last sync my mail to the built-in email app X_X

QUOTE(forgot_86 @ Sep 25 2013, 11:16 AM) Same case here. It happens since the 1st day I bought. My 3 capacitives buttons vibration is always on. But sometimes it just StoP.....didnt vibrate no matter what I do. Then after a while, the vibration is back again. I just live it till now. i guess the 2.15GHz quad core brain is too fast for the hardware to catch up XD
