Plan to get a new laptop because the current Toshiba Satellite L635 have some start up problem which take 1 hour to open.

1. Preferably Asus but can consider other brands with similar specs and lower price

2. RM 3000

3. Multimedia usage, research purposes, able to play latest high graphic games with smooth performance without lagging with medium settings.

4. Larger than 14'' with HD 1920x1080, touchscreen preferable.

Thank you for the suggestion. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

short answer: nothing tick all your boxes tongue.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

The L635 is taking 1 hour to turn on?  hmm.gif
Is the HDD sound funny?

If compare between Asus N550LF and Lenovo Y510p, which one is better?

Ya, when power on there is no screen but the power is on,fan is spinning and it just stuck at there.
Need to unplug the power then plug in again. then power on it, if still can't work then have to keep repeating.
It takes 1 hour to start up and actually quite depend on luck.
I checked the HDD for bad sector but it shows no error. I also no idea what to do.
Currently in university and doing research quite worry if my data loss someday. sad.gif

N550LF-CK064H, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT740M + (1366x768; touch)@RM3099[2.6kg], 4GB, 750GB
Y510p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080)@RM3399[2.7kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8, red backlit, swappable ODD, 120w psu, 2 yrs

Y510P has more CPU and GPU power to deliver better gaming experience.
But Y510P is over your budget already.
Btw, N550LF, iinm, don't have FHD spec  hmm.gif

Closest:
MSI
GE60-2OC, i5-4200M + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3099,8GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, steel series KB

Prices are RSP, negotiable.
Don't bother with touch screen on 15". You hand will get tired easily poking across keyboard smile.gif

Suggest you quickly take out the HDD (and put in external casing), and make a backup of all your important data.
Don't run anymore test on the HDD, it may make the situation worse.

MSI would be an good option to replace the Asus N550LF. Will think about it.

Ya, i already backup all the stuff in another HDD. So now just wait the RIP of the Toshiba. sad.gif

Thanks a lot for the info. Will try to do some details and review about those laptops. thumbup.gif

If you think only the HDD is dying, why don't you just buy a HDD or even better a SSD (256G ~ RM600)?  hmm.gif

Im not 100% sure is HDD problem.I also worry is it the problem of motherboard or not. Somemore the keyboard already spoil and using the external keyboard.
So I think it will be better to get a new one d..
