1. Preferred Brand: Any
2. Budget: RM 4K
3. Usage: Movies, surfing
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 13"

Contemplating either a MacBook Pro or a Windows UltraBook.
Emphasis on performance, portability and reliability.

Performance as in battery performance? hmm.gif

For the time being, the MBA13 triumphs this particular niche, great choice if you are already familiar with Mac OSX nod.gif

Thx for ur recommendation.
Actually I was already looking closely at the Acer V7, Inspiron 15 7000, Asus N55jV and Lenovo Y510.
haha... seem like those are the only few choice for me now.

If i were to buy now i think i wil choose the Acer V7.
Any Acer seller to recommend? good price n good service.
Should i buy from Senheng?
*
Yeah, the V7 is a damn good choice haha laugh.gif
Awesome screen and decent specs. But you might want to check out the real thing and see whether you can live with its uniqueness or not laugh.gif

Perhaps can try PM Beouwulf sifu? I think he is a seller. Otherwise the usual numbertwo, devour, hikari85, among all the others in Garage Sales icon_rolleyes.gif

Illegear Configure Illegear units here: http://www.illegear.com/
Illegear RE-15, i5-4200M + Nvidia GTX765M + (1920x1080)@RM3499[2.6kg][Onkyo, SoundBlaster Cinema], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), FreeDOS, [CPU Options: i5-4200M - i7-4900MQ]

*Prices in RRP, negotiable.
*Since your budget is pretty good, try to opt for an RE-15 (check out the website, I'm sure you will be amazed by its level of customizability). Iinm, the RE-15 has better cooling than the MSI, especially so when its customized with an i5 processor. Use the remaining budget to get W8/W8.1, extend warranty to 3 years icon_rolleyes.gif

Greetings sifu's

I went to check out the MSI lappies today . i particularly like the MIS  GE 60 -20c
Just wanted to know get some advice about these specs, whether it is suitable for 3dsmx and vray rendering, Photoshop, illustrator, and maybe some gaming like dota 2

but when i told my friend who seems to know something about computers he said it is not suited for 3d softwares and wont be able to last also because its a gaming laptop.

but im not looking to get a super awesome laptop, just a laptop that i can work with 3d softwares.
*
If you are referring to this one:
15.6"
MSI GE60-2OC, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3599,8GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, steel series KB

Then yes it can support 3D softwares nod.gif
Unless if you are into very intensive and elaborated 3D stuffs, there is no real need to go for a workstation which can cost up to RM10k or more laugh.gif

Well i assume he knows something about computers, coz he builts his own desktops etc and he said with rm4k he can built me an awesome 3dsmax  desktop, but i dont really trust him to built a computer for me.

plus he says he wont recommend a laptop as he says for 3d renderings i need something about 5gb pipeline and cooling system or something like that and need to invest about 6k etc.  i was just blur blur.  lol

If comparing performance and bang for buck, desktop will definitely be better than laptop laugh.gif
If you are not planning to bring your PC around, then a desktop is a viable choice. Otherwise, forget about it haha laugh.gif Unless if you enjoy lugging your CPU and monitor around wherever you go brows.gif brows.gif

but for me as long as the laptop i can still do 3d renderings, im A-OK with it  icon_rolleyes.gif

but for now, im still stuck between buying the GE60-20c (RM3599) or coming out extra to get the GE70-20E . (RM4499)

Just stick to the GE60-2OC if your budget is limited nod.gif
The smaller profile will mean better portability nod.gif

If you have a budget of up to RM4.5k, its better to look at Illegear notebooks instead i.e. RE-15, RS-15 Lite brows.gif brows.gif

This notebook is not really meant for heavy tasks and gaming unfortunately sad.gif
You will need at least RM2k for a gaming-capable notebook nod.gif
