guys, recently will go for vacation and need a digital camera suitable for travelling with good image quality as well. Any recommendation? Been searching thru the net and found Fujifilm Finepix F800EXR has good review. Any opinion here? Try to avoid DSLR because its quite inconvenient to carry around..

RM1370 w/ 8GB memory card, mini tripod and standard accessories.

Or if you're keen for the latest version, there's also Panasonic Lumix LF-1 with built in WiFi function.

Do consider Mirrorless camera as an option. I cycle tour and bulky camera is a seriously big issue- both weight and size.. but I needed the feature of DLSR, I pick NEX camera as my solution.. I can stick my camera with a 50-210mm lens into my pants. Why limit yourself/

Recommend you to delete your list and do some good soul searching first.. What do you seriously want to be messing with cameras stuff first... then start looking at your short and mid term needs. Look at some of the photo sites like Flicker or Nat Geo. From there, reappraise our needs again.. Then only start putting down the conditions that will determine your ideal camera.. The minute you start putting up conditions, you automatically start to narrow down (create blinkers) to your search and you can end up with the wrong product and advice.

If cost is your limitation, do look at it seriously.. It can stretch like a rubberband and put you into serious financial issue but it can also save your future investment. Only you can decide how deep is your pocket or adjoining pockets. Like some recommended, 2nd hand hardware can be an option (to cut cost) because some users are product chasers and you can get fair bargain. Most new product has very useful innovation add on. Add on you can also forgo. The last season product can still do the job effectively.

There are various user groups here and they will give you some very honest opinion of their choice.. like choosing a new partner! tongue.gif

different types of camera..

one is a prosumer PnS

one is a hippie tongue.gif camera with hybrid OVF n fixed focal length

in many ways the X100 is superior than the S120 (looks, sensor size, IQ, etc)...

but for most ppl, the main question is r u comfortable shooting only with a 35mm lens?
