Which BR branch did you go to, which state ?

For auto renewal, it will go to the current board rate, not even nego rate. For my FD in BR, I used online account to check, auto renew will just go to board rate.

You better check again or use online account to see the interest rate for related FD.  smile.gif

Better listen to this old goat regarding BR. rolleyes.gif

One of my FD reached maturity in the middle of November 2013 and was renewed with new cert at 4.20% pa. It would be a good idea to check online on your FD renewal as suggested.

Wow, last year my renewal rate was at 4.06% for reasonable "high" amount. This sifu  brows.gif  got 4.2% !  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

Did you get 4.2% previously for that FD and got same rate for renewal ?
*
Renewal has to renego. I only got the result 10 days after maturity but deposit date still the same..

Yes, I feel doubtful myself on that and reconfirm 4, 5 times over the phone, and the officer says yes, it will follow the same rate as previous year.
As for the online acct, I have just checked again, it is not stated with any rate at all.
Even the FD cert is without the interest rate, but at least with the total interest amount.

Appreciate BR sifu whom have gone through renewal to confirm the following:  icon_question.gif
1. Do you get a new FD cert reprinted or other document indicating your new maturity date? (magika said new cert)
2. Do you get back the old rate or new rate? (bbgoat said board rate)
3. How to check interest rate at online acct? Refer my online acct screenshot below, interest rate is not shown.
Thank you.  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
*
Sorry but cannot check online. Only way is to request for new cert or ask them to scribble on old cert. Do not and I repeat do not trust totally unwritten assurances. Make double sure or dont quarrel later on maturity. cry.gif

Normally for conventional FD including those on promotional or nego rates, on renewal it will fall back to board rate. I have seem before some bank clauses ( not BR) explicitly mentioning it.

anyone please tell me some procedure for invest in FD  sweat.gif
saw it on my maybank2u account but dont know to use  doh.gif
thanks  icon_rolleyes.gif

On Maybank2u it would be be online efd. It is very convenient for FD placement. Instant deposit and upliftment as necessary. But the rates are very low. I am using it for quite a while now. First deposit if you do not have previous FD account, there will be a few days delay. Just click on Make an eFD deposit then choose Islamic deposit, tenure, amount and renewal instructions.

Hi Guys,

Appreciate some help on this question.

For joint FD or joint saving account with 2 names and with condition that either 1 can withdraw the money. However, if one of the account holder pass away unexpectedly, would the account be frozen until a court order is release, or can the other account holder still be able to withdraw or close the account after the other account holder passed away?

Thanks.
*
You can withdraw it provided its either to sign.

Just looking at all of u complaining about BR customer services, it's kinda bad actually. I think BR staff don't really care about good customer service. why? because even they give bad services, people still go to BR for their "higher" FD rate  nod.gif when a lot of people stopped depositing their FD in BR, confirm they would "wake-up" one  nod.gif
*
I begged to differ. BR staff in my experience happened to be the most friendly that I have met in banking. Where can you meet counter staff and friendly security personnel that has the time to chat with you. BR staff is working with the least stress in comparision with normal commercial banks.

Its the system and oudated processes that has not been reviewed that is at fault. Quite a number of banks also are inefficient but if you know the correct way to push then only will it work. Maybank used to manually transfer quite a number of FD on maturity for me as their system also could not accept changed of Standing Instruction after a certain period.

Name me any banks that does not have unresolved customer complains.. Efficient ? Standard & Chartered penalised me eventhough their system auto sweep excess amount in principal to supp ctedit card. OCBC RM asked me go counter to do my banking. CIMB RM only interested in promoting other products.

Waseh, then what the staff told me was all pure bluff la doh.gif

I have individual & joint account with BR as well. Staff said can only apply single ATM card to access individual account online. No joint account for ATM card, so not possible to apply for internet banking.

Will enquire CS about this vmad.gif
Noted. Will make a phone call to CS to find out the answer.
*
Joint account can have either 1 atm individual card or 2 individual atm card. I should know as I am having joint account. The cons is that their system cannot accept the crediting of referal commision into joint account.

No need police report yet. Go to bank and ask them to list out all your FD. Replace those cert that is missing , some banks charge a nominal penalty of course.

Sometime when using spreadsheet, we forgot to update it.

the hassle to go to bank, lock down in FD, and negligible interest .... more practical to put into high-interest savings account (e.g. m2u savers @ 2.1% pa) for easy access to the 5K fund.

only go for FD if you really really really dont need to touch the 5K within 12-months. smile.gif

Found out the reason I'm not able to open BR joint account ATM card. The reason was that I applied for a joint SA & chose any of the parties listed as a joint owner of the account can do banking transactions.

Was informed that to enable me to apply for a joint ATM card, I need to choose the option of requiring all account owners' signatures for all banking transactions.

So, would like to ask both of you who BR joint ATM card holders, was I misinformed (again???!!!) or is it the same case with your account?
*
I m having joint saving account either to sign with one atm card issued in my name only. If not mistaken , the officer let me take back ths saving book for my missus signature..he..he..
