QUOTE(zDarkForceSz @ Sep 5 2013, 11:26 PM)
[(BASE) / (Home Currency)] * [units] / [leverage]

Home Currency = USD
Currency Pair = EURUSD
Base = EUR; Quote = USD
Base / Home Currency = EUR/USD = 1.3171
Units = 1000 (0.01lot) [10k units = 0.1lot] [100k units = 1lot]
Leverage = 1:500

Then, margin used:
= (1.3171 * 1000) / 500
= 2.6342 USD
= 2.63 USD
*
rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif that is 100% correct, but do take note that some brokers nowadays used a fixed calculation for the margin requirement ie: margin required = 100,000 / leverage for every standard lot round turn

I think so too because my margin is fixed at 5 USD when I open a 0.01 lot trade.
*
Your leverage is probably 1:200?

As long as you manage your risk, margin shouldnt be too much of an issue

Normally with ECN/STP broker, when the market with ultra high volatility, the price shoot up/down in a sec.
lets say EurUsd I buy @ 1.3200, TP @ 1.3300, SL @ 1.3100.

NFP movement is about 60-120pips a min
NFP come out with GREEN

EurUsd drop and hit my SL, but because too high volatility,
The price keep on dropping faster, maybe stop @ 1.3090. Slippage, I lose more than I initially plan to lose. another 10pips lose.

Lucky my train still green color XD

It's supposed to go up like that?
*
The spike up is caused by NFP missing the estimates, but the market is probably in no clear direction since the unemployment rate came out better than expected

Can I ask regarding XAUUSD, and DXU3, how to calculate the pips?
For example gold from 1426.33 to 1426.00, total is 3.3 pips right?
So for a sell 0.01 lot, the profit is 0.33?
*
For gold, yea, should be $0.33, but do take note that gold's spreads/commission should be significantly higher than fx

Have you guys heard of MetisEtrade? its a Manila based broker can I have some feed backs about their system and speard? Thanks.
*
Are you from the Philippines? if not, I see no advantage of using a Philippine based broker since you can opt for Oanda, Alpari, Dukas, FXCm, Gain and other globally established brokers.

Yes, I am from the Philippines. Oh I see, I heard they also have 3.5% interest on your deposit.  smile.gif
*
Well, if you are from the Philippines, I guess using your local broker wouldnt be too bad, since they will have a local office and is regulated by your local regulators (so if anything happens you can complain to them straight).

You will have to check out their business model (their market making and STP/ECN policies, and what sort of precaution steps did your local regulator imposed on Metisetrade - Just in case they go bust from market making too much) and also if their spreads are competitive (do take note some of the local clearing houses have additional charges).

P.S. the interest on the deposit is a very good advantage over other brokers, but I am skeptical on this. How would they calculate the amount of Interest to be paid, unless you win every/ majority of your trade, most of the time your account balance will increase and decrease as time goes by.

If you are from the Philippines, then it should be okay. Generally, Oanda, Alpari(UK), MBtrading, and Dukascopy are great.

EDIT: By the way, Oanda is a market maker. The rest are ECN.
*
Bro, not to be rude, but all of them are market makers with ECN/STP. 99% of the brokers out there are running a hybrid model (market make what they can and send out real trades to the interbank). nod.gif

Thanks for the info. I thought Alpari, MBTrading and Dukascopy have a choice for ECN account.

Well, it doesnt really matter if they are Market makers anot. The important thing is they have enough funds and capital to support their market making activities. All of these internationally recognized brokers have enough funds backing them to market make for the clients; with that being said, they will also employ professional risk managers to oversee their Market making activities.

Btw, if there is really a true real 100% stp broker, the client's will be able to trace the orders to the liquidity provider (Interbank participants - Citi, goldman, UBS etc etc)
