QUOTE(Seng89 @ Oct 19 2013, 11:24 AM) just called to HTC hotline regards the camera purple repair status. (flashed back to original firmware and still s-off) but they have checked my imei and bootloader already unlock so my warranty void, and i know it). Since ur not under the warranty, they want to charge you more now But they told me must change the motherboard first only can repair the camera module. So they told me to pay the motherboard replacement first in order to proceed the camera module. Any advice on this ? Necessary to replace the motherboard first only can repair my camera problem ? But I am not sure. But ur the first case I've heard that need to change MB too. A lot of other people got thr camera module replaced without MB replacement. Don't really know though. |

QUOTE(EatMe @ Oct 20 2013, 07:32 PM) I can't brain how we get these HTC Malaysia apologists in here. Agreed. I don't want to sound wrong but taking a bit side of CS is by saying that jobs in Malaysia. Especially normal jobs, the salaries are VERY low. Unless you're some manager or director or HEAD. It de-motivates people to work hard. I mean that' the only reason I see why maybe they don't work hard. And no proper workshops too. Actually, I do quite understand that the issues (regarding purple tint camera) is due to the contracted manufacturer's fault, and how amazing HTC is to admit it and honor refitting of said module (rare trait these days). But, it's just sad that the appointed service centre in Malaysia is downright sucks. Empty promises and super long wait, and mine even got its issue unfixed on the first time of sending it. Not to mention that I have to wait for that more than a month. And what really breaks my heart, they're doing a rather poor fixing job on my beloved One. Came back oily, introduced more scratches, and even got residual glue. And the original issue that I've specifically asked them to check on is not even fixed! And they don't even care a bit to call me in that regard! I pity the mothership. They are having all the bad rap due to the incompetency's of their regional distributors and SCs. They are not treating this "premium" phone as a "premium" product, and they don't seem to have any intention to do so. I'm not expecting them to have some kind of VIP valet service, but looks like they just have to make sure that every job should be poorly done. So yeah, HTC Malaysia sucks. Best ever product, worst service ever. Looks like the future is plastic anyway. Or it's just that the premium materials are not realistic for others, except for a certain fruit company. (I'd also want to include Nokia and its superiority in material & service, but that's another tragic story). Sad reality is that things here in Malaysia are getting expensive month by month, but the salaries are still the same. :S. And then ridiculous car and property prices. It's kinda sad lah. Oh and I am a foreigner, imagine it's more hard for me to get a decent job because of Visa issues. I think the beautiful govt has gone nuts and is trying to get rid of outside people now... tht is how bad things are for us foreigners. QUOTE(Seng89 @ Oct 22 2013, 01:56 PM) And this is what i replied to HTC. I can tell you already wht he will say... that unlocking boot loader, either problems related or not. Just voids warranty plain and simple.. whether unlocking bootloader causes the problem or not. To be honest, i'm very disappointed with HTC products and the way they managed. The camera tint issued already known as defect from HTC whereby it not caused by the unlocking bootloader. Please refer statement from a XDA member as below regarding unlocking bootloader does not completely voids the warranty as per your HTC.com statement. "Now, the question is - why unlocking the bootloader doesn't void the warranty? The answer is very simple. Because HTC's warranty contract doesn't state it. The only information about warranty on htcdev.com you can find is this: Refer Attached Photo. So, once again: "It is our responsibility to caution you that not all claims resulting or caused by or from the unlocking of the bootloader may be covered under warranty." Is there any information, that unlocking bootloader voids warranty? Nope. So basically, what does it mean? Only this - if you brick your device as a result of e.g. flashing custom ROM (unlocked bootloader allows you doing that), you may have no warranty claim for that particular incident. Two more important things to conclude: If "not all claims may be covered under warranty", then (logic conversion) some claims may still be covered under warranty. Even if you can't claim something under warranty because it was caused by or from the unlocking of the bootloader, that doesn't mean you have lost your warranty. You still have your warranty and you still can claim under warranty, but this warranty won't cover those particular claims caused by or from the unlocking of the bootloader. So basically, HTC warns you, that some of the actions you might take after unlocking the bootloader may lead to a situation, when particular issue can't be covered under warranty. Also, this information on htcdev.com doesn't expand or restrict your warranty terms. It doesn't change it at all. If warranty is given in the paper form, then as a contract the only way to change it, is a paper form too (if not stated otherwise in the warranty itself). HTC just kindly reminds you some sort of information you can conclude from the warranty itself." Let see what HTC will reply. and then he will say, it's a policy where unlocking bootloader just cancels out your warranty totally. Probably will find you a quote from terms and conditions in warranty section somewhere. But if he can't prove with terms and condition then you're right. I'd still say they'd defend themselves well As for new HTC one users. Just dont!! unlock the bootloader la. Your warranty is just 1 year. I know we all love to try custom roms to get a snappy and long lasting battery device but I think it's wise to try all that after your warranty expires or face the consequences. I know it's a shitty warranty and service but that's how thr business functions. They're trying to keep thrselves on the safe side too. |

QUOTE(Seng89 @ Oct 22 2013, 11:50 PM) http://dl4.htc.com/Web_materials/Manual/Wa...26_Asia-TCH.pdfI think bro go through here. I read it fast... thr is no such thing mentioned about boot loader. Jason is right, they are trying to press you, rather you become very formal n press them by talking technical and related to thr warranty policies too. |

QUOTE(Seng89 @ Oct 23 2013, 12:09 AM) What they are trying to tell me as per below statement from HTC representative. Then it's a policy. Off course technically it makes no sense but if they've stated it as thr policy before you unlocked it. Then I am sorry to say, they're right to follow thr already stated policy. "warranty is completely void is the prior statement as stated before customer unlock the bootloader" just confirmed their statement are "unlocking your device may void all or parts of your warranty". from HTCdev.com But yeah it's a stupid policy and surely unlocking bootloader didn't cause the camera problem. But well thr policy :S You can still try ur luck. |

QUOTE(Jason @ Oct 23 2013, 01:17 AM) MAY void all or PARTS of your warranty. I am not sure really but that 'may' just might give them the right to decline warranty. I know bro it doesn't sounds logical at all! whatever you're saying is totally right. But it's the policies which can be stupid. Maybe the 'May' give them right to accept claim or not. Seeing they r getting sooo many cases these days, maybe they're not trying to be flexible. Its MAYBE. Now that you (HTC) say it is void, please state in black and white WHY unlocking bootloader voids the warranty of a physical hardware problem with the camera. You faham apa saya cakap? Tak faham, nobody can help you, be prepare to be shafted by HTC. You faham, good, now go ask HTC to explain why exactly is the physical camera issue not covered under warranty, oh, because of bootloader? Tell me exactly why is that related and why it is not under warranty. Yes, it is your policy so please explain to me so that I understand. Modifying car also void the car's warranty. So if I change rim & tyre you void my engine warranty? Sheesh ANYWAY, already told you that you can win tribunal. Up to you bro, its your money. They are not right. Because his HTC One was already faulty before he unlocked the bootloader. He just didn't know it. You can try and claim warranty, good luck. Camera issue sure can claim. But yes the guy shouldn't give up. Calling HTC n why etc etc. And filing tribunal in the end might let him win the case (y) |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Oct 25 2013, 08:34 PM) Been using the iPhone 4 for the past three years. Time for an upgrade, but the 5S is just too expensive especially for the 64GB version, so I'm thinking of getting the HTC One instead. directd lowyat forum. google it. Get it from him.Where do you guys recommend I get it from? Are the threads over at the LYN sales okay? https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...6174&hl=htc+one https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...8927&hl=htc+one https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...7414&hl=htc+one Anything I should be wary of, especially the warranty? |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Oct 26 2013, 11:36 AM) Oh thanks! only 1 year now since 2013 jan. Red 64GB not out yet I guess. Only 32GB available. I would suggest you to wait one more month. Or before you open the seal check through serial number that your phone is made in after september. why? so that u make sure tht the phone inside the box dont have camera sensor purple tint issue. Brightstar is the authorized distributor for HTC right, along with SiS? I thought the warranty is 2 years? But I only see 1 year in the sellers' threads... Any idea where I can get the HTC One 64GB in red? You can check the manufacturing month of the htc through serial number using this website. http://sndeep.info/en |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Oct 26 2013, 12:31 PM) Wait one month because the red 64GB will be out or because the units before that have a defective camera? red 64GB i don't know when it will come out here. And same for blue color htc one too. Dunno when it will come out. Just did a quick search, wow, apparently this purple tint issue is pretty widespread? Is there confirmation that new units do not have that problem? I think 32b enough la.. get cloud storage better (y). yes wait 1 month so that this camera issue is gone for good. Apparently a lot of people sending thr phone to service center. The service center is changing the camera and motherboard to fix this problem. And yes my htc one has NO problems at all as it was just manufactured 1 month before, that is end of sep production. So no issues with that. I bought new htc one start of sep and send it for 1 to 1 exchange before 14 days policy for RMA so I got new replacement set instead of they repairing it. But then the new set also had problem so RMA again then the third set they gave me was from new batch and had no problems at all. So yeah. Wait. Oh and not ALL old htc one phones has camera problems but yeah 80% of old HTC ones do... at least here in Malaysia. You should consider LG G2 if you're looking to buy soon or Note 3 or Butterfly S in grey (looks sexy) |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Oct 26 2013, 12:46 PM) I need 64GB for all my songs... I bought from lowyat plaza. Since that time directd's price wasn't that good. You can ask him now.You bought yours from directd? I'll ask them if it's the new batch (after September) before buying. Any problems with your RMA process? RMA process LOL. Go through all these pages. HTC malaysia sucks. The phone HTC one is the best phone i have ever used but the quality control and customer service, basically after sales here in Malaysia is Super bad. It's because now they only have ONE service center compared to samsung which has so many service centers. So the RMA process is VERY slow. Might take up to 1 month too they need to invest on their CS. |
