is it you said it obviously degrade the display? but it doesnt happen with my unit. i just think the light become dimmer and probably less vibrant? but still a very good display.. and is suppose to conserve battery, thats good.
ok. having said this, i'm gonna untick the optimise backlight setting and reboot to experience the bug myself now.
It not happen in every single unit, but some is facing it, all thanks to Sony different quality panel supply and bad QC!
As for the fake hang & SOD, you need to untick optimize backlight and also the tick adapt to lighting conditions. Or else you gonna face fake hang but not SOD after screen lock.
Actually the correct symtops shall be
Fake hang at startup
make your screen 100% brightness, you need to untick the adapt to lighting conditions and move the slider to return to normal brightness setup.
SOD when locking the screen by power button or when it auto lock itself.

XZU no worth to sell, newly buy at Aug @ RM2000+ and sell less than 1700, only used not enough one month, minus 300. I rather keep it, thus I not urgent need money too.
I am still thinking sell it or keep it, but nor-matter how I will get another replacement phone soon.
And probably not going back to Sony so soon anymore, unless Sony use back high quality display panel and need to wait more longer before get to confirm they is bugs free, or at least not huge bugs issue.
nothing is the world is bugless. Just wait for the fix. complain here and there, telling the whole world you going to jump ship ah, sell off ah will not fix the issue.
Zu is a premium product but with some bug, just give time sony to fix it.
A fix can't be done so fast as a lot of testing needed to be done before can ship out + those agency testing as well....
Is not we not give but Sony did nothing.
3 bugs since 1st firmware until now 5th firmware.
Another 3 more bugs appear in 4th firmware and continue bring over to 5th firmware.
Total 6 bugs now in latest 5th firmware, and Sony can't fixed any single bugs on it? What Sony is doing? Release firmware for fun?
For those not understand what I written previously, here is a better understandably way to bring out the Fake Hang & SOD symptoms.
Set as screenshot below:
Immediate Power Off the Phone.
Turn on the Phone, you will notice after SONY logo, they is a fake hang, it take sometimes before continue.
The phone will became 100% brightness after success load to main launcher. You can only change the screen brightness after un-tick adapt to lighting conditions and move the slider.
Immediate click the power button to lock the screen. SOD (Screen Of Dead) appear.

Be careful, if not wrong 1st tear need to use some hard thing to came up, check YouTube for solution but remember be extreme careful. They is some user previously tear the Z one until breaking the whole glasses.
Also you can actually searching the YouTube video everywhere include at phone by searching keyword as iXPbq-PuqC8 only.
Example you can insert iXPbq-PuqC8 only at JetVD (Apps for download YouTube video at Android phone) and later download your wanted YouTube video, I always doing this as JetVD search is pretty bad implement, sometimes it can't search out whatever you want. http://www.jetvd.com/

maybe just put on front page that Andrew_1980 had tear out the back anti shatter film safely, and the logos still intact at the back panel of the phone. i think such info quite useful
