QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Jul 22 2014, 02:52 PM) Hi 208 owners. Here's one thing I need you guys to confirm on. Whenever I leave my car overnight and turn on the engine the next day, I feel my engine is noisier than usual and upon pressing the accelerator, I hear like additional noise that I would expect out of a diesel car. Do you guys experience this? I have enquired with the Peugeot SC but I'm not too happy with their explanation. They tell me that due to the car being idle for a long time, the engine oil level had decreased and due to the oil not fully covereing the engine parts, the noise is more. Hope you 208 owners can advise... as I initially wanted to lodge a complaint. If low oil level is the cause of the noise, than after startup the level will drop further since oil is pumped into the engine. The noise should be more! Hehehe.....their answer makes me laugh la! The reason for the noise during 1st start is due to timing chain being dry. Overnight the oil would have drained off to the sump and is a little noisy during 1st startup. After start, in a short while timing chain gets oiled and the noise disappears. This post has been edited by SKYjack: Aug 30 2014, 08:30 PM

QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Sep 19 2014, 08:16 PM) I was driving yesterday then suddenly I got the "Temperature Gauge Error ". I looked at the gauge and it went to the MAX redline. Immediately stopped at side of the road and turn off engine. Engine went off but fan still ran a good 2 mins then I turned back on again. Back to normal. Anyone experienced this? Coolant temperature sensor may be faulty. ECU uses this feedback for various engine operation status. It is a crucial signal for optimum engine.

QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Oct 1 2014, 08:03 PM) Yeah got it fixed for free last week together with.the recalled suspension part. I see NASA is putting efforts to improve product support. That's good as this will improve Peugeot image and RV. Hope they keep it up! Cheers!

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Aug 14 2015, 01:26 AM) Hi guys, how's the reliability of 208gti engine? I've heard horror stories on Prince engines and is curious whether the 208gti inherited these problems. Thanks! Initial Prince did have some problems, mainly premature carbon build up. This was a problem with all DI engines, Audi,VW,BMW,Merc all had it. The problem has been solved and the new line of Peugeot engines are reliable. New Prince with 8 modification 1st appeared on the 408THP 3 years ago. No complaints up to now. Now all 1.6 THP petrol engine Pugs are fitted with this reliable engine. 208gti's are tuned to 208hp( Euro 6 engine), much higher than sedans. That's a pocket rocket. Go for it, very enjoyable car! QUOTE(onelah @ Sep 29 2015, 07:06 PM) Hi all 208 owner..i am considering to buy this car, recently saw in the mudah and carlist used price about 55k, juat wanna know is the car has so many problem because there are so many used peugeot been sold out there..how about the maintenance changing oil cylinder, gearbox, can do at normal workshop or only at sc? For normal service such oil and filter change, a regular workshop is fine. However for gear box or anything more or specific better to go to a Peugeot specialist. No need go to SC, many independent Peugeot workshops in Kling Valley. Regular workshop will not have necessary tools for French engines.

QUOTE(c1song @ Mar 2 2017, 05:44 PM) anyway, anyone experience issue with engine oil sensor? When i start my car, occasionally it showed "top up engine oil", about 1/10 times.. just checked with SC & they suggested to change the sensor which costs around rm350+-, and it takes 3 months to order As suggested you can ignore the message since it's intermittent at the moment. An intermittent indication is a clue that the sensor will fail sooner or later. IMO it's good to get the part from a spare part shop and change it at a Peugeot workshop. You'll save roughly a $100. QUOTE(metalgearash1987 @ Apr 9 2017, 01:04 AM) Hi guys, i am considering to buy a 208. But still unable to decide to go for the new puretech (monthly abit high bcoz new car) or a used 208 (year 2015). If i take the new puretech minus i can gate rm6k rebate but without 3 years free service and 9 years monthly around rm950. Worth to go for the new puretech? Or just stick to the used 208 (8years monthly around rm711) Bro, didn't you buy a used 3008 sometime last year? Is the 208 a 2nd car you are planning? Pure tech engines are exciting, but may not achieve full potential with our fuel. I'd like to go for used 208.

QUOTE(metalgearash1987 @ May 1 2017, 01:45 PM) Woah! U still remembered me? haha.. I did bought it the 3008. That is for my wife. This time is for me.. I already go for the used 208. Still got one year warranty and 2 years extended warranty until 2020. But after driving the 208 for a few days, i still macam want the 6-speed pulak. Hahahaha. Ya I get what you mean, 6spd GB is nice. However if 208 is your town run around, then 6spd won't make any difference. After the enhancement package, my 408thp with 6spd returns 8.3L/100 on out station runs & I'm usually doing 150kmh. Imagine if I was to keep to 110spd limit. But this is a Lion la not a kitten. So have to roar, not meow.... hahaha!

QUOTE(metalgearash1987 @ May 1 2017, 07:29 PM) 90% town drive. Rarely outstation. The reason i x buy new puretech 208 is bcoz of the turbo. Huhu. Haha. Yesterday drive until 160km/h.. not too bad.. handling still ok lagi. I wonder after one year if already bored with this 4 speed gearbox, can i just buy from kereta potong any peugeot 6speed gearbox and pasang in the 208? If got the 6speed quickshift at kedai potong i think i am interested. I suppose that's true, after warranty over can spruce it up.

Since RV on Peugeots is low, there are very good bargains. Now there are very good independent specialist workshops in Klang valley. Superb quality of service, much better than most Peugeot SC.
There has been cases where a new Peugeot owner was utterly frustrated with SC for their inability to solve issues with his car . He then got it solved at a independent specialist workshop.
If I were to buy a Peugeot now, I have no qualms on a used one! Spare parts are reasonable at spare parts shops.
However I admit, its quite a challenge to avoid Peugeot's amazing designs & technology in their new models!

QUOTE(isMEheNG @ Sep 5 2017, 10:08 AM) Any new 208 puretech owner? My dad is very interested on new 3008, but his current 508 is very problematic. But the sales person told me that the new S&S puretech engine from 2015 onward is much better and reliable. Same to aircond cooling coil etc, ady improved. Their statement true or not 3008 is a very nice SUV. The new Puretech engines are much more refined. I tested the new 408, the engine was smooth, much improved & refined. The problems faced by the previous Prince engine has been solved.

QUOTE(Crovoseas @ Oct 20 2017, 05:45 PM) If not mistaken, SC told me they hire outside aircond technician to handle the recall. Ya Peugeot SC don't fix aircon problems. Aircon is out sourced.

QUOTE(zacktan @ Nov 15 2017, 08:12 PM) Anyone had ESP/ASR system fault on their 208 before? Sent for checking and they said brake servo problem. Quoted me RM1.5k to replace. Not covered under warranty. Apparently that part only covered for 3 years. No warranty, don't go to SC,just cut throat! These guys are very good. Much cheaper than SC! I suspect it's just ESP sensor defect, only $260/- outside SC. Anyway check it out with Renautech! This post has been edited by SKYjack: Nov 19 2017, 11:22 AM Attached thumbnail(s)

QUOTE(desmondk @ Nov 17 2017, 11:12 PM) Thinking of getting the new peugeot 208 puretech... but getting a lot of negative comment regarding it's after sales service. wanna know what you guys say? After sales with NAZA is not up to mark. But I hear the same story with all other cars too! I think this is a Malaysian phenomena! The car is certainly very good. Lively & fun to drive. Continue service at Peugeot SCs,no problems with regular service! You may encounter a peculiar issue, that's when you'll find SC is not good or unable to solve it. Fortunately there are a few very good independent Peugeot specialist workshops. These guys are very good. I know of many owners who got tired of SC and managed to get their cars fixed at these specialist workshops. No fear, if you like the car go for it! IMO it a damn nice car!

QUOTE(desmondk @ Nov 20 2017, 09:10 AM) Yea, the car is indeed really good. I went to the showroom last week, the guy told me that 208 is already sold out for this year. Damn, need to wait til Jan18. Doesn't have a chance to test drive it either, they even sold the test drive unit. Well, I do come from a small place, probably the showroom doesn't order too many stock. One thing to notice, the car air cond fan/compressor sound is really big at the outside. 208 being completely sold out is news to me. No wonder I see a lot of 208s on the road these days. Loud fan noise is common on most Contis. Hope you get your car soon, good luck!

QUOTE(techme @ Feb 7 2018, 01:20 PM) Any owners of the 208 gti here mind sharing your review of the car? Reliability is the main issue if it's not as reliable as my satria then that's a big problem Any conti requires greater attention,Pugs are no different. If you see this as a burden, then you shoud stick with non contis. 208gti is a very nice car, super powerful. Driving dynamics by this car is at another level!Keep to the schedule maintenance, its will serve you well. Now Peugeots offer 7year warranty!

QUOTE(whynerd @ Nov 29 2017, 10:22 AM) WTA. My sister's car, less than a year need to change battery. Is not can tahan 2years plus?now is the 4th battery within 3years reasonable? This is a car with high use of electronics. That is the reason why battery does not last long. This problem is not only with Pugs, all modern cars have this issue as all these cars use electronics much more than older design cars. Century batteries last almost 2years!

QUOTE(c1song @ Mar 7 2018, 09:46 PM) Yeah mine just dead today. Last year changed on February. Just change a new 1. Hopefully last longer 😣😣 Not sure if Century DIN66 will fit, as battery box in Pugs tend to be rather small. This battery may last 2 years. But don't go for cheaper batteries, sure will not last. I tried Gold Star, although DIN66 capacity, did not past 1year. This post has been edited by SKYjack: Mar 8 2018, 10:53 AM
