For USB 3.0 connect/disconnect issue, it can be categorized into Win 7 and Win 8.

For Win 7, users need to install so called:

USB 3.0 Driver: Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Intel® 7/8 Series/C216 Chipset Family from Intel website as Win 7 does not have USB 3.0 support.

For Win 8, users cant find above installer as depends on manufacturer (i.e. MSI). I am currently try to find solution but cant find any effective way to solve this problem. A suggestion but based on certain condition as indicated by author:

It seems that MSI users suffer this a lot, as storm88 indicated, users only need to update driver/bios as long as it stay latest update then problem is solved.

SO, I used a driver downloader software to update my GT70. After restart, it seems that the issue has been mitigated. However, I need to further ensure it has been solve completely or not....

EDIT: Reset to factory setting: problem still exist, all driver update: problem still exist; I wonder why that particular port hate Seagate so much, keep disconnect in file transfer....

Hi, I have a GT780DX and just want to ask how to replace the rams below the keyboard? any specific shop can do it.

I also want to upgrade to SSD in future, so come to learn something.

Based on my google research, you can either swap original HDD to SSD OR install another SSD/msata SSD on the msata SSD bay.

You can refer to the picture attached before you send to MSI authorized shop/service center to upgrade

Sharing info on GE40 upgrade.

I finally got MSI service center to swap the 750GB HDD with a 1 TB SSHD. A simple upgrade but the warranty sticker got in the way.

The charge is a standard RM85 (same price at all SC). Very expensive sticker indeed since I opt not to have them factory restore the new drive. Didn't want to leave laptop there, so I used my own 4 recovery DVDs.

Recovery went well. I chose full restore and it created and partitioned the new 1TB drive into several partitions, including recovery partitions (Yay!)

SSHD is noticeably faster. (More Yay!) Opening programs now is in a blink of an eye! Haven't tried gaming yet.

Unfortunately, I didn't see any option of setting the sizes of the partitions OS_install and Data. And upon upgrading to Windows 8.1, it created another recovery partition in between the two. Sigh.

Anyone know how I can increase the size of Data and shrink OS_install? I certainly don't need almost 600GB in OS and 300GB in Data is tiny. The problem now is the hidden recovery partition in between. Is it safe to move that?

Has anyone tried replacing the original msi power brick with other slimmer options? What are the outcomes? The power brick is huge :/

Haha~GS60 is really attracted me with its weight and portability. How do you think about the cooling sistem of it? will it get hot easily? When will it launch in Malaysia? And the price range is? Sorry for asking you so many questions. I just want to confirm I won't regret buying it 

Thanks for the link, now all GS series become not really affordable, for the same price range, people may prefer GT60/70 basic series. Of course, if buyer is a slim maniac then he/she may still go for GS series.

I know 860M has two variants: Maxwell based and Kepler based. Maxwell is with 640 cores; 128bit bandwidth which currently 2014 MSI GE series will be equipped with.

I just doubt your second statement, bcs Kepler based 860M has 1152 cores; still 128bit bandwidth.

It's ok. I've figured it out.

The mSATA modules is on the upper side of the PCB board, so you'll need to remove the entire board to change the mSATA.

Secondly, it does not use the standard mSATA connector. Instead, it uses the M6e connector, the same ones used on Macs.

Yeah, it has been advertised as mSATA, I have no idea why.

Check the video review that was posted earlier. He did a tear down of it and you can clearly see the SSD is not mSATA but M2.
