I think the more powerful the processor, the more energy efficient it is going to be. This is the first time Sony uses the top of the line processor for their phone. Everything in it screams upgrade for me.

I like Z1..it better than HTC One..in my opinion. thumbup.gif

I agree. This phone is a worthy upgrade. Z imo is the first Xperia with the most steady price ever even with a dated processor. So can u imagine how much the successor can stack up? This will be the phone where I won't wait for something better anymore for already... laugh.gif

At RM1800 is very stable...normally before the next flagship is announced it is already hovering at RM1500...

uhhh what?

i checked with my friends in M1 and Singtel and all of them are telling me 1st week of October as well. Please explain how we're "like 10 years behind Singapore" rolleyes.gif
*
See that's what i meant. We know about it coming on first week of October in Malaysia but there are no news yet from our Maxis and Celcom friends despite Sony having a media only event of the phone in Malaysia. If there is someone will say in the forums already....

keep in mind that it's still insider info regarding SG telcos i posted and no official announcements or anything. only hardwarezone in sg which is similar to lowyat in MY doh.gif doh.gif

not everything is better in SG lah
*
maybe compared with Maxis and Singtel phone offerings....and oh forget about Celcom they are still offering expired phones rolleyes.gif doh.gif

we know phone offerings is not just for fun right? It is something to do with the market forces hence why I say we are 10 years behind.... icon_rolleyes.gif

market forces do not include catering to different income groups? doh.gif

singtel/m1/starhub also offer outdated phones, just not on the website. sweat.gif
*
well in that case, if they already have so many new phones on offer online plus expired phones in their store won't that means they are the best on what they do? shakehead.gif

market forces is not just about income groups... btw, it is called phone subsidy for a reason and phone subsidy does not apply only to high end phones....maybe because we are in a high end phone thread you think is all about income... laugh.gif sweat.gif

and Maxis/Digi/Celcom don't have that range? sweat.gif if like that then why not compare with US? they get certain phone models slower and gets loaded on with extra crap. compare apples with apples la bro

not only income. different needs as well. doh.gif wait, why suddenly bring in phone subsidy when we're talking about carriers not stocking or at least announcing the latest phones? all i'm saying is your point of Malaysia being 10 years behind Singapore is just downright dumb. Singapore, believe it or not, does not have the best of everything.
*
why 10 years? lol is just an arbitrary no I pull off and i have no idea why you could be so aggravated over it and resorted to name calling??? shakehead.gif doh.gif

we are neither lagging in tech nor content but for the lack of choices we are! so to bring it in phone subsidy is the focal point..without phone subsidy who wants to be tied to a contract and if there are no takers then why would we even care about what phones they have in stock? can u finally see now? yawn.gif rolleyes.gif

Awesome review with some nice close up shoot!

Beside the look like Aluminium side, Xperia Z1 came with long bar loud speaker, look & feel premium.
Overall the loudspeaker sound not really loud, but ouput quality not bad, especially the bass part is strong.

Does anyone think that the bottom bezel is a little too thick for a top tier phone compared to the predecessor ? Maybe that explains the larger 3000mah battery. Other than that , the back looks stunning , only the front looks a bit mid range-ish look which might turn off some of the potential buyers.  wink.gif
*
i am with you too but the slim profile and the bigger battery make up for it.

Thin bezel make the screen look bigger.

Bezel too thick will eventually affecting viewing and it look smaller than it suppose.
*
yes seriously. compare with ZL this phone 12.4mm longer. that is quite substantial...but the bottom flap of the ZL kills me off and ended up I would prefer the bezel.

Yup! Really disappointing on Sony move!

See below photo, it is damn obvious the screen panel is not possible same type panel use in Z Ultra.

No wonder some reviews I read say Z1 display is only slightly better than Z but none give a as good as Z Ultra. looks like Triluminos and X-Reality does not equal viewing angle! what a disappointment from Sony!

want to ask you all

http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/S...hones/7883,8000

this site show that ZU and Z1 both got same battery and why ZU with large screen can last longer a bit than Z1 that small screen?

so far ZU good with large screen and better view angle while Z1 good with flash, camera button, software and bigger speaker right?

Then for Z vs Z1, is that anything Z better than Z1?
*
maybe because of camera and flash? hmm.gif

Z1 never in my list nor-matter I gonna buy Note 3 or not.

Actually I don't see really elegance look in Z1.

The extra thickness in this omni-balance design not really work out.

And now I notice the side craft look too grey tone, which make it feel more plasticky look than aluminium. It just not match the color especially the black one.

Also the left and right bezel is too tick already, it make the phone screen look smaller than it suppose.

-----------------------------------------------------
I mention this is to let user know the Z1 screen might not as good as Z Ultra.

And I really disappointing with Sony move. Sony is just again't spoil the panel and gimmicks it own new branding "Triluminos" in mobile if the final product panel use is same as those show in IFA.
*
the black strip on the side panel i have to see in in real life before I can make any decision. i wonder if it is sticker or painted or what. maybe jloi can answer? in the teaser photo the strip is really nice looking but so far in the press photos it doesn't look that nice anymore. the glass fibre polymide frame on the Z looks to be more elegant now.

but s800 and 3000mAH is too hard to resist...i will wait for the GSMArena battery endurance test first. after all the excitement, the viewing angle is quite disappointing. all this while I had though Sony can't do anything with the screen so I accepted it but when the ZU have it and Z1 don't. It is just really no more excuse for Sony.

hopefully the camera will turn out good!

Note 3 or This xperia Z1 better?

Thinking of changing phone since my current phone xperia S giving me lots of problem such as lag, auto restart, slow update from sony.. Sony looks are really attractive to me compare to note 3, but im afraid Xperia Z1 will giving me the same problem with the current one if i get one, any advice?
*
this one will be better because it now comes with 2GB of RAM and less bloatware from stock rom. about the 4k recording I won't worry about it. it is natively supported and a software upgrade will do.

don't forget top of the line processor. this is quite future proof. the first Xperia smartphone with a top of the line processor. but i will admit it will be a tough decision if Z drops to 1.5k this October....

Ya, only battery and camera.

But the camera you can buy the lens, QX10 / QX100

So Z1 really screw up hmm.gif I think quite many people disappointed
*
QX10/QX100 is a camera not a lens. they are designed to function as a companion camera not as a this or that camera meaning it is not substituted... lol doh.gif shakehead.gif
