If there is no physical damage on it by the user either intentionally or non-intentionally, yes usually warranty covers hardware failure. Go to Apple-centre and check with them

Apple Care Protection Plan (ACPP) can be further reviewed here http://www.apple.com/support/products/mac.html and i will strongly suggest you to do the following steps:
1. Call up their direct line to check if your condition is covered in warranty (usually yes) 2. Walk into their service centre and share your concerns - be firm and clear with what you want, usually Apple folks wont be so mean and turn u away like that.. afterall there's a reason why they charge such price for their product |

I used to be work at Apple Service Provider. If your unit has white dead pixel with no physical or accidental damage, it's under Apple warranty. Just send to any Authorized Apple Service Provider.
