QUOTE(JasonWilton @ Feb 16 2014, 09:30 AM) haha no man, planning to use this phone for at least 2 years It seems that you are new with Nokia cameraphones noise is more, and contrast is less too Nokia always use the raw-ish image algorithm. Unlike other phones like iPhone or Samsung they like poochy-coloured images, bumping up those contrast so the images will look better on phone but worst if you view it on pc. So this Lumia Black revitalized back Nokia's old image algorithm and I'd say its getting better and better! |

Firmware = patches for the OS ( Upgrading/adding/changing something in OS, example 8.1 / 8.2 / 8.3 etc) All those update in Lumia 920 is a firmware update. If im not wrong, the official update usually takes 1 by 1 steps to the newest. For example, if u bought Lumia 920 when it first launch and did not update at all and u want it to be Lumia Black now, the update procedure will be like Original firmware > portico > amber > black ( i think i missed some update here, but this is how it works anyway This post has been edited by LalaluSan: Feb 17 2014, 11:17 PM |

WP8.1 is a major update to WP8, just like what microsoft did to Windows 8 to Windows 8.1
OS = Operating System, like Windows 8,WP8 Firmware is the program code that stored inside the non-volatile memory of the electronics system, like Computer's BIOS. Whenever Microsoft had new update for their OS, Microsoft will sent the patches to Nokia to do testing on their phones, and Nokia will bundle the patches with their firmware update to release to public to download. For example: In Lumia Amber firmware update, Microsoft release the patches that enable FM radio on their OS, able to sync google mail, adding data sense and etc. But Nokia bundle the WP8 patches with their own firmware update as well, including ISO3200, camera algorithm improved, glance screen, double tap awake phone and etc. So HTC and Samsung WP8 owner will only had features that found on the WP8 patches released by Microsoft unlocked, but can't enjoy the other features that Nokia included on their firmware update. |
