QUOTE(earl-ku @ Aug 19 2013, 03:44 PM) for a moment i thought we're in the Mountain Biking thread btw there r differences for folding bike below rm1k, unless mtb which they claim all r the same for below rm2k for less than 1k, pretty sure dahons don't come with quick release wheelset, let alone double wall rim but the raleigh ugo has both, n i think they make a lot of difference in terms of convenience n durability |

samosaurus, do u happen to know anything bout flexible stem on dahon boardwalk d7?
i have one n the stem is adjustable n while it was stiff at first, it's become way to flexy to ride confidently atm is it a design problem or a qc issue? |

QUOTE(earl-ku @ Aug 19 2013, 07:33 PM) nah, but def thought of getting one in future hahathe cheapest is less than 3k i think, with components worth only half the price compared to if u get a regular HT MTB.. 27sp acera groupset with XCR 80mm fork but i reckon the folding mechanism is better than montague.. |

QUOTE(samosaurus @ Aug 19 2013, 05:40 PM) If I read you correctly, your headset's stem connector may be loose. All you need to do, is to tighten the bolt connecting your stem to the headset. When the stem is loose, it tends to wobble and flex, this is caused by wear and tear.. maybe stem isn't the right term.. nvm, i'll post a pic soon![]() This picture shows how the headset and stem is connected. Sam as for now i'll just have to really tighten then QR level for adjusting the height of the handle bar/post n see if it still flexes |

![]() this is my adjustable handle post with QR level it could turn right n left slightly even though the wheel isn't turning i could really tighten the level to prevent it from turning at all, but i'm worried bout the wear n tear at the bottom of the post this pic below is snapped when i took out the entire post ![]() |

n the issue regarding replacing it is that i need to adjust it to the maximum height each time i wanna fold my bike, otherwise it'd interfere with the wheel area

QUOTE(etigge @ Aug 20 2013, 08:36 AM) Just tighten the QR until it doesn't move. It tend s to move a bit after much usaga and makes the handlebar alignment go off. Another rider can't get the handlebar lower and he has to cut off an inch off even. guess i'll just have to do exactly that.. thx brah QUOTE(samosaurus @ Aug 20 2013, 09:29 AM) Ahhhh... Okay, your telescopic stem's clamp.. I get it.. Well, this is a pain when it comes to older Dahon bikes with telescopic stems. You will have to to adjust the nut on the "turtleneck" clamp to get a good grip. Do not overtighten it as you may damage the collar used to fasten the turtleneck clamp. Also, there is a "red dot" to indicate the telescopic stem's maximum height, do not fasten the stem beyond the recommended height as it will twist. With stems using this adjustable height system, the handlebar tends to sway from left to right due to loosening. One way to overcome this is to have a fixed stem. Handling is also much better with it.. I've been using my Dahon Speed P8 for five years, and the clamp tension on the handlebar's telescopic stem is something I check from time-to-time.. Sam |

QUOTE(H2D @ Aug 24 2013, 12:53 AM) u mentioned that ur stem is set to the lowest while cycling? it's flexing regardless of the height setting.. unless i really tighten the clamp till it's way too uncomfortable to operate by handand at that position it is flexing? try raise it up, set at different positions.... just wondering if this could further damage anything, otherwise i don't mind having to really tighten it each time also, if i switch to BA tire, can i then go up n down pavement/curb without worrying too much about my single wall rims? |
