QUOTE(etigge @ Oct 29 2013, 04:49 PM) I think it's not much of a problem. It may be 'terbalik' but for Neos system it the correct way. Shimano used to have an XTR RD also moves in the same way and I have used it before. It was 9 speed too. Instead of thumbing to go easier, it just release to go easier. In fact I think it's easier too. User if for a while and you will get used to it. All Shimano or SRAM RDs are compatible with your Dahon Boardwalk PROVIDED that you have the adapter! i know it's not wrong per say or anything but i'd like both my bikes to have the same shifting orientation ma, heheanyway can u pls help me to find the adapter on taobao? i can't read chinese! just the link will do! n any recommendation on the RD? will mtb shifter be compatible with road bike RD? n do i needa change my chain too? it's getting costlier just to change from gripshifter to trigger wan |

QUOTE(H2D @ Oct 29 2013, 10:51 PM) direct ship from taobao... i'm not sure how it works yet... if it is only 1 item/shipment , then u are gona spend a lot of $$$... u buy from different seller, all send different parcel to you... with agent's help... u tapau all the item's together.. they pack it nicely for u... this is one way to save. if u can find agents that can offer free 'repack' service... u can save even more, cos all those extra boxes will be removed... and pack even tighter... but the repack service has to be reputable... RM12/kg from lyn agent? now they are very competitive... alot are under RM10, about RM 9.5 to RM 10. plan to buy more in one parcel, and u will save more. buy sensitive stuffs together, dun group sensitive with non sensitive... this is how it looks, without repack... They charge an extra 10 percent for the service. If it is a small item, then there's no volumetric charges and it the items are large, you are subjected to extra volumetric charges. Whatever the charge is, the stuffs are very very much cheaper than buying here. But sometimes, I just pay higher just to buy from many local importers here, They also need to cari makan mah! no la, i'm talking about the adapter laa! is it the right wan?n altus/tourney vs sora, mana lagi best? but must be compatible with my acera mtb shifter la |

Although the indexing of the road bikes and mountain bikes are different, somehow or rather, they do work. Eg. my wife's Boardwalk is using the Shimano 8 speed trigger shifter and Sora RD and Shimano 2300 FD. They work! I never really tried using the other way round though. Using road bike shifters with mountain bike RDs, this I am not sure. haha bang, i was asking if the FD adapter pointed out H2D was the right wan anot laaaaMY ADVICE ! To all who are using adapters for RDs, do get a spare one. I knocked on my wife's Boardwalk a while ago and the bike fell over and the adapter broke! anyway u got spare right? sell to me first can anot? anyway thx for the clarification regarding the road RD, guess it's time to shop again! |

QUOTE(etigge @ Oct 30 2013, 12:27 AM) Lite Pro or no Lite Pro, all from the same source. That's what I noticed on most items from Taobao. Hahaha. i very much prefer cheaper brandless stuff if they perform n function the same! QUOTE(H2D @ Oct 30 2013, 12:31 AM) yes it is mostly true... too many fakes these days! but i notice there are differences.. i saw a litepro grip with bars... got litepro chop la... n the finishing is not the same as another exact copy of the same thing, that sells way cheaper... remember in china there are knock-offs from knock-offs.... meaning A is ori. B is copy from A, then C go and copy from B and make it even cheaper... |

QUOTE(etigge @ Oct 30 2013, 07:54 PM) For those interested on how the rear derailleur adapter works ! amacam boss? ur friend's shop got stock anot? The rear end of the Boardwalk. Also can be used on Dahon Dash 2013 models. Can be adapted to Tern Links but the adapter needs the quick release to hold it tight as the Tern lacks a securing bolt. ![]() The adapter secured onto the frame via the Neos RD mounting tread and also another securing M4 allen nut (same as bottle cage nut) ![]() The rear derailleur attached to the adapter. ![]() The Dahon Speed on the other hand has already an RD hanger ready! Note also the Neos RD mounting tread. ![]() Components needed for the front multiple chain rings installations. From top left-clockwise. Shifters, longer bottom bracket, the dual chainring crank or triple in some cases, the FD adapter for Dahons and Terns and those same sized seat tubes and the front derailleur. Off course the extra cable and housing. ![]() How the contraption looks like after installing. ![]() |

QUOTE(etigge @ Oct 30 2013, 09:21 PM) Do you think you can find anyone in Penang to fabricate the adapters. Here in KL, there are but it takes time and also most foundry owners seek big big projects. They will do but you can't hasten them. If you can find someone to fabricate I can send you the broken one as sample and maybe strengthen the weak part in the adapter, eg. make it out of stainless steel rather than the 6061 aluminium but the purpose is when it crashes, the one that gives way is the replaceable hanger and not the frame. But if it is stronger, I'll take the risk though. just for a few pieces? i doubt so bro..u ordered the 5 pieces from taobao? if my friend's sis does happen to have a shipment coming in soon then i might order thru her la.. btw can u tell me which type shld i buy between these two? do u think one of em can be used without any RD adapter? QUOTE(etigge @ Oct 30 2013, 10:00 PM) You can actually use the direct mount RD as I think you haven't change to quick release hubs yet! But the limitation is that's going to be the most the RD can go. If you want further, you have to change RD again. If you are satisfied with the numbers of gears, then it's OK to use the direct mount type. Eliminate the need for adapters , huh! Convenient. indeed i haven't changed to QR hubs yet!sure anot bro?? if yes then i'll order d! the immediate plan is to able to able to use the trigger shifter n bar end grip, 7 speed is fine with me! 9 speed etc will be the next round d! for now i just wanna ride everyday after work! so confirmed can?? |
