Just tested the SEL1670ZA, very nice!!
Fast focus and sharp.
if it is F2.8 will be perfect!!!
*
there is reason y it is not f2.8. due to higher cost (say 3x the price) and if it is build in f2.8, the size will be bigger and defeat the purpose of NEX which is small, handy and pack of power. also we have SAL2470Z. what you need just a LA-EA 2.

Explaination from Sony is they wont simply make a lense because of demand of certain consumers. That is why Sony lenses line up are not as much as Canon or Nikon. nuffsaid...

The size and weight of f4 is indeed very nice. At least I have expected varying aperture like fuji f2.8-f4 instead of fixed f4.

Fuji 18-55mm f2.8-4 (FF: 27-82.5mm), 310g, 64mm x 70.4mm
Sony Zeiss 16-70mm f4 (FF: 24-105mm), 308g, 67mm x 75mm

The Fuji is very very sharp as a kit lens.

With 2 new full frame NEX coming, Sony will have more models if interchangeable lens camera for sale than Canon.

Sony - Nex 3, Nex 5, Nex 6, Nex 7, ILC3000, Full Frame 1, Full Frame 2
Canon - Rebel, 70D, 7D, 6D, 5D3, 1DX

And if you add up the revisions, Sony produce more new cameras than canon in the same period. They spend far more time on cameras then in lenses. Until today there is only 1 tele zoom (55-210). And now with effort devoted to full frame camera and lenses, it is very hard to expect more lenses coming for APS-C E mount.

I hope one day to see something like 16-47mm f2.8.

Fuji did impress me with their X series. but the turn down is the price is 50%++ of a high end NEX like nex 6 & 7.
as for NEX counterpart, kit lenses( SEL1855 or SELP1650) is only a standard workhorse, it hardly reveal the true potential of any NEX body. yet users are not limited to only E mount lenses. adapter for all mainstream or not mainstream lenses are available. the versatility and the possibility of NEX are limitless. Rather you got the choice or the limited expectation.

From the very reliable source, NEX 3 & 5 will have refresh model every 1-2 yrs(same as most of their DSC line up) to meet customer demand since this 2 are mainstream model. as for 6 & 7, most likely no successor due to this two model are more like a 'legendary gadget' like RX1 and RX1R. Sony are actually not emphasising the sales of this 2 model and not bother about fans ranting about the pricing. They are meant to be so(PREMIUM). as for NEX FF, i too very anticipating about it... perhaps this upcoming KLPF will show them faces and once again make everybody rage with their skyrocketing price. tongue.gif tongue.gif

As my personal opinion, the NEX FF might take ILC form factor and using current A mount line up with LE-EA adaptor. Since they have made so many fine A mount Zeiss lenses. i think they wont waste much more resources to redevelop a new FF line up lenses.

played with a3000, brought back some test shots and realized the rendering is a little different and compared to NEX 6, the new 20mp sensor seems to render crisper and cleaner image, not sure if it's because of the lens? a3000 has 1855 kit lens while others all have the compact 1650 PZ, quick search revealed that both kit lens seems to have similar quality. besides, the NEX 6 with 1650 and NEX 7 with 55210 (different lenses) have quite similar rendering, only the a3000 shots looked different. grip is comfortable, EVF seems rather small and no proximity sensor.

worth checking out though, the sensor seems to be an upgrade.

The secret behind the different between a3000 and nex is BIONZ proccesor. which the one exactly same processor in a99...thats why its better than nex. but need to wait awhile more for more high end mirrorless alpha come out. since a3000 is and introductory model.

Hello all, i bought a Nex-5r on July this year with only the kit lens, and are thus far satisfied with this camera.

However now i am regret that i didn't pick up the combo 55-210 lens @ RM800...any idea how/where I can find the same deal?
*
Since 5r replace by 5t new... New package are body + kitlens...SEL55210 pwp rm800..

If you keen for this lens, pm me... I can do you a favor to find this lens...

The fisheye converter/adapter is ONLY compatible with the SEL 16mm f/2.8 lens.

If you're looking for an alternative fisheye for NEX, you can get an A-mount fisheye (eg. Samyang 8mm f/3.5) with an A-E mount adapter.

The fisheye converter also compatible to new SEL20F28.
