out of topic here.. but, just to inform that even if u manage to get Astro on the go... you cant connect it to ur TV anymore.. Astro on the go just update the latest plugin.. once u connect to tv, the screen would just go blank... rclxub.gif

I can confirm the latest app version still works for me... Only issue is that I'm currently out of the country, don't have an Ast** account ( cuz duh!.. It's me!) and so trying to play a free content results in "Content not allowed to play in your location".. Understandable geo-block..
Ridiculous? This is Malaysia.. Logic doesn't work with monopolistic companies..  nod.gif

astro on the go works... but only in tablet or phone.. no more connecting to the tv.. they are damn smart... but, i hate them now... ranting.gif ranting.gif

Even it is Malaysia, to contol the number of registered device for each account it too much and now with this block to display to external screen...

yup.. but, i think their biz also drop a lot thanks to plenty of cheap box available.. so, if everybody use AOTG like me, they lost more customers.. having said that, still geram with their latest plugin... ranting.gif ranting.gif

Really can't blame them... The app is called & advertised as "On The Go".. Meaning for mobile devices aka smartphones & tablets.. Not "On The Media Box connected to a TV"... That's what their proprietary decoder is for.. Want one, get one... Simple biz tactics.. I'd do the same too, if i were running the company. At least, until the demand for such market (TV boxes) warrants an expansion into such area.. For now, its really not worth it... be it from a financial or app developing point of view.
Apologies... Back on topic.. icon_rolleyes.gif

of, fair enough... but, with inflation everywhere, cut cost on entertainment part is the ideal way.. laugh.gif

u mean u connect physical cable from phone/tablet to tv?

used to work, now no more?

it should still work with googlecast.

aotg quality is poor, even for a tablet.

can get much better quality with other apps.

i only keep it on standby for sports in case the rest fail.
anyway... anyone care to open an ASTRO-ON-THE-GO thread?

seems a lot of interest!! biggrin.gif

yup, bro.. exactly.. i used to connect using hdmi vable direct to tv.. now, no more.. can only watch at my tablet.. so boring.. in terms of quality, cant complain since it's a cheaper option...

yup, why not? hypptv so boring.. laugh.gif

there are boxes and tv's that support unifi playtv and astrogo.

well known ones are current minix and himedia models.

others incl nvidia shield and mibox that run on andoridtv can as well.

4k tv's using androidtv platforms also can do.

some, u can install direct from playstore, it will work and auto update too.

others, u need get apk, sideload them, manually update versions if there is a need.
some other boxes, even unifitv STB - some people managed to do some work to make them work.

do search and read about them. e.g.
