Finally received my Niilkin SP ( US$ 5.69 only ) from EBay. So far so good and have no issues as those reported that the SP will affect screen sensitivity. I don't really believe in using SP but since the antishatter film could be scratch - I have no choice
My display is still perfect having used the phone past 2 weeks+

You applied on top of shatterproof film?
*
Yes. Apparently warranty is void if one removed the film. Only using ballpen as stylus is not so smooth. Finger n pencil is normal as before.

I picked up this anti-shatter film n warranty from XDA : I quote -

E-mail from Sony:

Dear Mr. *********

Thank you for contacting Sony Xperia Support.

First of all we are sorry you experiencing issues with your Sony Mobile handset

With regards to your inquiry, we would like to inform you that, Sony Xperia Z mobile phone features a tempered and scratch-resistant display glass. In addition, the glass often has a shatterproof layer, an anti-shatter film (ASF), over it. The purpose of the anti-shatter film (ASF) is to make the display withstand being dropped from greater heights. The anti-shatter film has a positive effect on the sensitivity and accuracy of the touch screen.

The anti-shatter film is softer than the display glass and thus less scratch-resistant. If the layer is peeled off the display will lose some its shatterproof characteristics.

Note: Please note that we do not recommend the removal of the anti-shatter film. This voids the warranty. In cases where the device needs to have the anti-shatter film replaced, we would suggest you to visit one of the authorized Sony Mobile Service Centers in order to have your Sony Xperia™ Z mobile phone thoroughly checked.

One of the most important thing is loudspeaker.

Only HTC (HTC One) and Samsung (Note 10.1) gets it.
*
The softer speaker is due to the extra membrane to have it waterproof. Just accept this weakness if one wants to get this phone. Pointless to complain about it. It is better than XZ but worser than tablet XZ.

Those thinking of getting the LTE model from Singapore, apparently it is not available yet this month though is launching tomorrow. One HWZ forumer had reported :

Pre-order starts on 23rd Aug, collection 1st Sept, purple avialable after 15th Sep

Haha.. good one! really true. One could only hope.. maybe XZU 2 later?

Sony would have an instant classic if the XZU had:
- on par sound qualities (speaker and headphone) of the HTC one,
- on par stylus capabilities like note series,
- a better camera with led flash.

All these will silence most people in here  sweat.gif . Those are the most complained about features from what ive seen here. wink.gif
*
would be my perfect ideal phablet. But than all manufacturers always never released the ideal phone - the improvements will only come in subsequent upgrade models. If all the top specs are available, how are they going to maintain their business growth ??

Note 3 - wonder what will be the deficiencies ? But if Note 3 were to carry on the Note 2 features and with improved display, processor, memory , stylus input etc - I'd say Note 3 seems looks like the ideal phablet. Only worry is Samsung DO NOT carryover the mistakes of S4 and packed it with unnecessary gimmicky added software ( which I'd say 30-40% of it is half baked n hopeless) and end up taking up valuable storage space

Seems like quite a number of XZU sellers in garage sales cite its size as the main reason for selling, after short ownerships of a few days to a couple of weeks

Looks like there's an acceptance curve for the general public.
*
5.5 inch and above display size phones is a niche market . It will never be a common hit among the masses.

I still remember the first time I got myself the 5 inch Dell Streak ( specially imported in from UK through a forumer here) - the number of stares I got in the kopitiam/cofeehouse/warong at my place was uncountable. On several occasions , some curious chaps even came over and asked me what gigantic phone was that !!
Than Samsung launched Note - and in this forum , a lot of bad comments that it was freaking big, unsuitable as a phone and those using it were even called freaks !!! Well, history had proven those critics wrong and thereafter we have seen Note 2 and a rise of phablets by other manufacturers
It had now reach a stage that 5 inch display size phones are considered normal already
But still till today, we had guys debating on the size of this phone as to its suitability for use. I'd say only time will tell whether 6 incher and above display size phones will succeed or fail. Sony I'd say had taken a big risk at 6.4 inch. A 6 inch size would be more acceptable

after a couple of weeks, anybody gotten their XZU scratched? on the shattered screen I mean.
*
The anti shatter film is said to be scratchable but I am indeed very impressed with it. I was daily using a ballpen with it extensively replacing my finger ( tapping launching app, writing using keyboard, scrolling in browser and moving among homescreens/app drawers etc) and in past 14 days I have yet to see even a single hairline scratch
I just put on a Niilkin SP only yesterday
But I do read at least 2 users here who had reported scratches even on first few days usage !!!

Mind telling if the additional SP you just put on will affect the screen sensitivity including causing double-tapping issues, etc. as mentioned by forumers before. TQ.
*
No such issues at all ( with finger, pencil ) . Except only now with ballpen, scrolling is less smooth and less sensitive to tap by it. Writing with ballpen is now even worse and I'd say is hopeless. Writing with pencil is still Ok as before

@uncle benny - what type of pen are you using to make it able to be detected? I understand from the videos that the common plastic ones dont work? Point down or retracted?
*
I tested 14 of my old ballpen n only one can work perfectly. I have posted a pic of it before. It is just one of those cheap pen given by Suntec during one of their expo

Using this pen, you can write seamlessly is it? How it is compare to S-pen on Note? I know S-pen must me better, just want to know your comment.. Because I barely can write on my XZU using pencil.. Maybe it's not the suitable one I guess, I will do research on my pen and pencil inventory. Lol
*
Seamlessly ?? Is a joke !! I have said many times the writing of the XZU cannot compare to Note 2. If I rate Note 2 a 10 for smoothness, accuracy n speed the XZU will only score a 1-2. Forget about extensive writing on the XZU and most probably you will want to throw the phone if you wish to do that. Taking short notes is still OK
I can write quite OK ( with very slow speed ) and better with pencil but than only for few words notes.
With the SP on, now the pen is now hopeless and worse. Can forget about using it to write
Pencil use 2B type. For pen - you just need to test out with what you have
