Most probably first three list for GDR3 and new glance screen feature in Bittersweet Shimmer update (Lumia 520 don't support glance screen on GDR2+Amber).

Others not sure.

I learned this trick to read the backed up sms in Outlook.com.

Login, click Messaging History, then shorten the url, for example in my case

original url

https://blu174.mail.live.com/mail/#n=1593441296&fid=b

shortened url

https://blu174.mail.live.com/mail/#n=1

This gives a list of all the sms backed up, and you can view one by one too.

Once you've found the sms list, you can move any or all to a separate folder. Then you can easily find them next time, without having to shorten any url. For new sms, you have to follow back the steps above.

Unofficial changelog for WP8 GDR3 + Bittersweet Shimmer update:

Windows Phone 8 GDR 3

-Support for 1080p display for new devices like the Lumia 1520.
-Support for new processors.
-3 medium or 6 small tiles on a row for phones with screen resolution higher than WXGA (1280 x 768) including Lumia 920, 925, 928, 1020 and of course the Lumia 1520.
-Close apps by tapping on the X on top right in multitasking view. The icon of the app appears below.
-Custom tones for text or IM, voicemail, email and reminders (confirmed earlier by Windows Phone Central)
-Screen Rotation lock: When auto-rotate screen is off, your screen will stay in the current orientation when you rotate your phone.
Driving Mode: Turns of all notifications except texts and phone calls when you're driving. You can also turn calls and texts off completely or set Driving Mode to text and automatic reply like "Hey, I am driving right now. I'll reply you later." Driving Mode can start automatically when your phone connects to a Bluetooth device.
-Connect to WiFi in OOBE when switching on your new phone for the first time or after you your reset your phone, so you can restore your data even before connecting to a cellular network.
-Attach Office files (.doc, .xls, .ppt) and .pdf files in email.

Nokia Bittersweet shimmer firmware

-Glance Screen: Notifications in glance screen similar to the notifications on the lock screen. Choose from any of the 20 accent colours for night mode instead of just red in Amber. You can choose whether you want to keep the glance screen always on when charging, in Amber it is always on when charging.
-New apps: Nokia Camera, Storyteller, etc.

Rumours of Windows Phone 8.1 "Blue" changes:

QUOTE
Universal binaries. Microsoft is currently pushing the notion of universal binaries that would let developers create a single app that can run both on Windows RT and Windows Phone. This is opt-in because of size issues, apparently, but could eventually become a requirement. Where Windows Phone 8 has 33 percent "API unity" with Windows RT, Windows Phone 8.1 will hit 77 percent.

Multitasking. Microsoft has supposedly flagged multitasking as Windows Phone's biggest technical issue. GDR3 will fix some issues—it will let users manually close apps, for example—but notifications and background processes are a mess and quite inefficient. These issues will apparently be addressed by 8.1.

Bigger screens. Where GDR3 is widely expected to support 5- to 6-inch screens, 8.1 will supposedly support 7- to 10-inch screens as well. This obviously infringes on Windows RT/8.x tablets, so it's not clear what the thinking is there.

No more Back button. Aping the iPhone navigation model, Microsoft will apparently remove the Back button from the Windows Phone hardware specification with 8.1. The Back button just doesn't make sense, I was told: Users navigate away from an app by pressing the Start button and then open a new app, just like they do on iPhone. And the "back stack" is ill-understood by users: Most don't realize what they're doing when they repeatedly hit the Back button.

Low-cost/volume vs. High-cost/luxury. With the Lumia 520 and 620, Windows Phone has found its niche in the low end of the market. This has helped sales, but Microsoft has always wanted to position Windows Phone as a high-end system like iPhone, which is where the money is. Obviously, they're not going to walk away from market share gains, but low-end phones have technical limitations that harm the platform's forward progress. And this is what sank Windows PC sales when the netbook arrived. The push to 1080p screens and bigger devices will determine whether Windows Phone can break out of this mold.

Maybe still usable but no more further improvement eh ?

Then how we access multi-task?
Right now we access multi-task by long pressing the back button.
Long press windows button will bring out voice control.

Dun tell me double tap ?

swipe app down to close - like they do in Windows 8/RT - removes the need for back button!

Just looking at some forums and got some info about it. Some of it is here:

Notification Center

In the suddenly long tradition of “Windows Phone would be great if only it had [insert feature here],” a notification center is the new darling. Android has had a notification center for years and even Apple’s lackluster iOS added one in late 2011. But Windows Phone relies instead on live tile for persistent notifications. These tile updates are certainly more dynamic and useful than what’s available on iOS and Android icons, but they can’t rely match the amount of information that can be relayed by a full-screen notification history list.

Multitasking

Answering one of my own key criticisms of Windows Phone, the multitasking UI is finally picking up the most obvious feature of all time: A Close App button (“X”) that you can use to manually shut down an app. Brilliant.

All Apps sorting

One of the weird problems with Windows Phone is that the All Apps list—seen by swiping horizontally from the Start screen—gets unwieldy when you add too many apps to the phone. So Microsoft added a quick navigation feature, which is nice, but still not granular enough for real-world use. In Windows Phone 8.1, Microsoft appears to be adding a sorting capability to All Apps, just as they are doing in Windows 8.1, so you can view this list in far more useful ways.

New Calendar views

I really like the Windows Phone Calendar app but its available views are somewhat lackluster. It’s not totally clear from this shot what’s changing, but there are definitely more view options coming, including This Week and Next Week, and the views will all be available right from the app bar. Good.

There are other minor things in there—a Battery Sense app that could sit alongside Data Sense in helping you keep your phone working efficiently—but you get the gist. Assuming this stuff is real—always a tough call—I like what I see here. And of course I expect a lot more as well.
