QUOTE(YakAttack @ Sep 13 2013, 01:50 AM) Uphill cycling is a b****. My knees and thighs wear out so damn fast, its not even funny. Any tips to overcome this hurdle? See below plus additional below. QUOTE(butthead @ Sep 13 2013, 07:49 AM) thigh is recoverable...if you wear down your cartillage in your knees... seriously f@ked for the rest of your entire life... 3. squad more. i was jus overexaggerating, there's knee replacement's don't worry...it 's just like buying some over the top carbon bike with ridiculous carbon wheels... 2 things you can do 1. make glucosamine your best friend 2. see a bike fitter as your knee might not been tracking properly within your pedal stroke... it hurts your knee because your knees are taking forces in a way it is not meant to be 4. squad with weight. 5. build up core strength. |

I already use the lightest gear when travelling up, I was just wondering if there are other tips to cope with it. And glucosamine? I'm no scientist, but are you referring to electrolytes or something of the sort? i get serious when i don't need to... and joke about things when it is all the wrong timing...Also, I've a mountain bike, the frame is pretty heavy. glucosamine is a supplement that helps with bone something and blah blah blah.... i think google will explain this better than me... dun wan to supply you wrong information...i no doctor too.. don't want you coming at me with a lawsuit if you suddenly grow antlers or something like that...google has more money to deal with lawsuits... as i also mentioned... having adequate rest is important to help damaged muscle fiber repair itself... if you ride so much hills that your muscle do not recover quick enough.. .you are doing long term damage to it knowingly or un-knowingly... ride a bit of flats to mix things up as the different tempo will give your muscles a bit of time to adapt to changes instead of get good at doing 1 single things repetitively... also try change positions on the saddle by moving your butt (yes, i said butt but not in a gaylord m. focker way) forward and back to change position a bit as that regulate different muscle groups when climbing in the saddle... also try riding out of saddle a bit as that helps your muscles regulate and stretch other parts of your body and lets fatigue set in slower than just focusing on one single muscle group... depends on what gradient you ride.. the harder the gradient.. the more pressure you are putting onto your knees no matter how light the gearing you are running.... |
