Hi There,

To me the bike is a wonderful ride!! everytime I ride it, I feel like heaven biggrin.gif

Yup those 2 are the common issue with this bike, however it can be overcome. I would not talk about what causes the problem cause it's gonna be very long to elaborate. So I give you the permanent solution instead.

For the electrical system you need to replace the Original Stator & Rectifier to the aftermarket version (Rick's Stator & Rectifier), this will cost about 1.5k-2k with installation. For the rear brake you need to put in the aftermarket (Race Type) rider foot peg (in which will also relocate the rear brake master pump), this will solve the rear brake issue.

besides the above, this bike is fully customizable since it is a pure factory race breed thus no matter what height are you or your riding style, this bike can be tuned to it. If you need a recommendation for bike setting, let me know I know just the right person to do it.

Nice bike there but wowww.. the R/R price is really a killing. I was at first thinking of Rick's Stator & Rectifier but then decided for Jack's Roadstercycle FH020AA mosfet kit. I'm expecting delivery anytime next week. But for both, it cost the same only around usd150 and for Jack's mosfet kit, it include the mounting bracket. Can be DIY since it is P&P.

This bike is only suitable for daily commute. Light and easy to handle but not for cross border purpose. Go for bigger capacity Speed Triple or else Tiger is the best for long trip ride.

i m looking to buy alphine leather track pants... cos i hv the jacket... check a few shops in kl all out of stock... same to some malaysia online bikers shop too...

can anyone help up?
*
I'm looking for the same. Was in Melawati for their sales before raya but they have only the textile that can be used with sliders. I paid only 500++ after 50% discount smile.gif

Try looking online sportbiketrackgear or revzilla or riders discount etc.... Contact them for further price reduce and ask them to use premium shipping courier e.g. UPS, DHL etc. in case you really need urgently. They are always happy to help you.

Good luck bro

Can anyone suggest/recommend me a full racing suit which does not burn a hole in the pocket (Maybe around RM1.5k)?
*
2k at least for beginner suit and don't go the cheaper custom made. Suit is for protection so must at least with real cowhide leather materials and CE certified protection. For cheap custom, you get what you pay.

One of the biggest problems with the Apprilia is the rectifier. A lot of them change to after market rectifiers because the original ones dont last. As someone mentioned since its a continental, be prepared to pay continental prices.

They are nice to ride, fantastic machines. But to take care......... make sure got deep pockets...
*
Rectifier - Sounds big but it is an easy fix. Also very common to most Ducati models except Panigale. It is because originally fitted near to heat source e.g. exhaust and with poor ventilation. Like my 1198S, upgrading to mosfet type (which is similar type/parts number as on my R1 nod.gif ) and relocate to more ventilated location solved the issue.

I cannot technically compare my i4 and V twin. Riding on Japs is always amazing but never feel sexy as on Ducs rclxm9.gif

Is this thread dying? haha

I want to ask..if I buy a bike w/o ABS (for in this case, CB650F) ,

is it possible to install ABS onto it manually ?

Summoning lucifah to entertain me
*
I believe it is possible provided you bought the OEM system as fitted on ABS model. But why not thinking of TC?

I still use the method of engine braking before uwing gradual braking, is it bad for the engine ?
*
Possible on high gear of your biker? I dont think it is bad for engine.
Like Panigale, you can set the EBC to suit your riding style.

Just to share my recent experience – For you guys with superbike, do not run until your bike stalled when you are on reserve gas. It may/will damage your fuel pump. Quickly find the nearest filling station and most important, never trust the reserve indicator on the bike sad.gif sad.gif

If doing engine braking like racing (e.g. corner ahead, i'm in 5th gear, drop and blip to 3rd or 2nd), is it ok?

Depends on your speed. Slipper/anti hopping clutch will help you much

Go for CBR 600
More option for future HP upgrade with more choice of aftermarket parts. This is the bike if you want to be a superbikers. Also, it is a perfect machine for a beginner at track day brows.gif brows.gif

Abang lucifah sure agree with me drool.gif

Unless you have a spare bike/kapchai for daily commuter, better not getting CBR600..

Note, when you own the bike you should consider the maintenance part.. like cost to maintain and availability of the parts..

I know SG is near if can't source it in Malaysia, but would you go often down there just to change parts?

Even CB500 is CKD Thai, saw a bike in Welly has been there for months waiting for part (brake caliper kena stolen)..
*
I kinda agree. Owning a superbike, for sure you need money but for parts, no need to worry for availability.
E.g I can source anytime parts for my 06 R1 but not really easy for 09 Ducati.

Okay, there's something that has been bothering me about the negative comments on the Z8.

Yes, compare it with other naked bikes in it's category, she's quite porky. But, the weight actually helps with it absorbing imperfections in the road as well as make her stable while on the go. I have yet to experience any headshakes while riding.

Z8 can't corner properly? No, you just suck at it. She can keep up with 600 & 1000cc sportbikes in the twisties, no problem. The tighter the corner, the better. All you need is practice, practice and practice.

I'm a fat guy. Combine it with the bikes weight, it easily becomes almost 400kg. Yet, I don't have any issues keeping up with the kapchais in traffic. I can't squeeze through some very tight spaces but most of the time it's fine. Learn counter steering. Once you get used to it, you're good to go. Helps with cornering in the twisties as well.

The only downside if you even consider it one, is that it's lacking wind protection, even with a windscreen installed. But that's the nature of a naked bike. The lack of fairing makes long distance high speed cruising become very, very tiresome. And I'm talking about speeds in excess of 200. The sweet spot for cruising is about 150. Anything faster than that and it will take a toll on you. If you can't handle going up to 150, you need to built up your upper body strength. Seriously.
