however if gold is continue in downward trend for the next 2- 5 years, I don't think gold can be consider as investment tools already.
Now people who bought gold in 2010 / 11 already loses the value.

i thought we r suppose to buy at low price. no? if u dont buy at downward trend, then when do u buy? upward trend? if a person dont have holding power, then yes, i agree with u that gold is not a good investment tool. just my 2 cents tongue.gif

The theory is always easy, buy low, sell high.
But reality, everytime get it right in buy low and then sell high, is something not easy to achieve.

For eg. now 1280~1300 is a low or high? Buy or sell?

Last time there were people talk 1500 is low (after plunged from 17xx level), but if bought at 1500 and no sell until how, 1500 is a "high" if look from now.

The fear of gold price is not about downtrend or uptrend.
The major trend I fear of, is gold repeat its history from 1980 to 2000, a price stagnation for 20 years.
*
i agree. that's why, i'm happy despite it's down or up trend. whichever way, i'm happy. but stagnant is what most of us are afraid of. especially those who buy paper gold. those who buy it in the form of jewelery can still be useful by wearing them while waiting for the price to go up. biggrin.gif

YES, I strongly agree with U on the demise of gold in July 2014 to exact.  drool.gif

But on the other hand U don really know the difference between investing in gold compare to other assets class like stocks & property. When U invest gold U don look at how much is the value of your gold now or at any one point of time. It's the wealth transfer that'll make U rich not just your capital plus interest/dividend of your ASB,AS1M,Unit Trust or whatever fund..... U need to understand the concept of money & currency first before investing in gold. Imagine one day your accumulated interest/dividend plus capital reaches let say RM1 trillion but the price of your lunch cost you RM100k. Would U still think you're as rich as U seems to be with your RM1 trillion?? look at the value instead of numbers.  rolleyes.gif

Frankly, if U can't grasp the gold investing concept U will not invest in gold at all.  icon_rolleyes.gif

yea, very agree with u on this. to make it short, buying physical is to curb inflation of the fiat currency.

so is it still a good time to buy gold or should i wailt...got extra RM 5K to spend now
*
the question is do u need to spend that 5k in the near future? if you dont mind locking ur money for a few months or like some ppl here say till at least july 2014 then u may go ahead. off course u can wait. it might go lower or it might not.
