yup, from MP-08 onwards, all MPs are scaled down compared to pre-MP-08 version. If u plan to continue collecting MPs, better get MP-10, as the future MPs, such as Wheeljack and Bumblebee will be the smaller scale versions. You wouldn't want your OP to tower over MP Megatron (if indeed Takara issues a re-mold of the failed MP-05! ) rite?

Comparing side by side, mp01 is still much better overall. the only +ve of mp10 that i appreciate is its more realistic looking vehicle mode. QC on my mp01 is much better. the chrome, after 10 years, still look pristine. the mp10's chrome on the bumper is already peeling off (albeit just a little bit) after transforming twice. Joints are tighter on mp1. Even the battery still works after 10 years! I needed to modify some parts to tighten the mp10 joints. IMHO, mp1 is in the collectible category, while mp10 is more of a toy. i regret not getting mp04 when it was first released.

MP01 have horribly loose waist swivel.

anything with as much metal as MP01/04 would have joint issues. it's more than a kilo. top heavy too. off course the hip, waist and knee joint would suffer(good thing the hips and knees are ratcheted). same thing with humans if you're overweight .

hmm, somehow i don't have that. in fact my mp10 seems to be more loose, possibly due to the soft plastic they used. But yeah, posing is an issue due to its massive weight. but then, mp10's ankle is also quite loose to pose creatively (unless you fix it, or maybe mine's just a lemon). And I can't get the dam gun compartment at the back to stay closed in vehicle mode.

it is a matter of personal preference. But for me, Mp04 and Mp05 was and still is the pinnacle of transformers masterpiece.
The engineering that went into designing these 2 masterpieces were way ahead of time. Diecast, articulation, perfect transformation..etc.
As a reference point, armada optimus prime was released in 2002, while the the original Mp01 mold was released in 2003.

10 years later, the Mp10 to me was just a refresh, a facelift, resize it smaller, maybe as was previously mentioned as a form of cost cutting.
But not a breakthough in TF masterpice as the original Mp01/04 was.

Lastly, before you decide, hold one in your hand, feel the heft of the Optimus prime diecast. Then you will know which one is right for u.

people only collect those characters left in the animated series itelf...(like what bro Ayam collect)


btw.. just took a lame pic night,
