Sound like Mega is better deal than UZ...  rclxms.gif

+1 Agree Mega is quite a sweet deal. Like Benny said paying extra RM800 just for the screen is
not worth it.  smile.gif

tho as i remembered processor of xzu is better.
waterproof.

Exactly, XZU doesnt boast ONLY a better screen, but the latest, and fastest chipset IMO. Summore 1st in the market to field a snapdragon 800. You also get Water + Dust resistant, and also a sleek design (compared to the standard looking mega). For me, RM800 is worth it. smile.gif but A$400 is overkill.

The writing ability of the XZU is just gimmicky and I find it completely not practical. Taking short on the spur notes is still OK and definitely not for extensive writing
If you have used the Note 2 S Pen before you will cursed this XZU writing ability
All the advert n posted youtube videos NEVER show the real situation
First you must/only can use the Sony keyboard
Launch any note app than select PEN from keyboard. You will get a writing pad about 4 cm high
The recognition of my writing ( need to do very slowly) is horrible - accuracy is less than 20% - meaning 8/10 times it fail to recognize my writing. I get frustrated using it. Faster to use keyboard to type. I cannot do any sketching at all
I got the impression based on the demo videos that it can do free writing and possibly sketching - I was terribly wrong
It would be great if just like Note 2 , straightaway I can write and draw on any note app

And never allow any part of your palm to touch the display as the writing will not work

Thanks for the detailed explanation on the stylus inputs boss thumbup.gif

Now people need to strike the 'stylus' experience out from XZU capabilities as it is more of a gimmick only. sweat.gif

Dont know why Sony is rushing the XZU into the market. Even the latest firmware not up to date at retail. They already gained the techworld attention, hype and momentum with the Z line of mobiles and tablets, stints like this just make them look like bad again.

There should be some explanation from Sony side regarding the x-reality and firmware imho.

Perhaps Sony wants to 'test waters' first with this 3G version of the XZU. I would imagine the LTE XZU to be priced at around RM 2499 which is quite expensive considering it has only 16GB on-board. If Sony did want to price the LTE version at such high prices, I would not expect they would bring it in soon, or ever if the 3G versions' sales are not doing well.
*
Good point. I doubt they are just testing waters here considering how sony is releasing almost all the handsets they announce recently to malaysian shores (Z, ZL, Tab Z LTE, Tab Z wifi, ZR), high hope is still there for an LTE XZU imo.

But with a price tag of 2499, only tech / gadget enthusiasts, sony loyalists, and the rich lot are going to fork out cash for it early in its release. Or maybe people will just settle for the 3G version if they are planning to buy the XZU as a second device.

No LTE 1st is acceptable, but I find it not really good is the UI still running the old one with old function.

Also cannot put in the X-Reality, but only Bravia Engine 2. Sony Hong Kong, England already change to bravia engine 2 in specifications and mention X-Reality coming soon.
High possible this is what Sony might do...
*
Im assuming sony has hit a snag in rolling out stable XZUs with X-reality and New home launcher or maybe they are going to compile it in a bigger roll-out.

Xperia Z & ZL in UK are currently getting OTA updates to the Sony apps as we speak (Walkman, Album, Movies).. maybe they save the hassle and integrate the whole package together in their next release to save resources?

Because they have those 3G so called prototypes aka white mouse, which they wanna clear off their inventory first  whistling.gif

And I also believe the later LTE models will follow the same price point of RM2299 where the 3G will discontinue.
*
My bet is 2499 for the XZU LTE version. 2499 is the new magic number for newly launched high end smartphones, furthermore, the XZU is the most powerful phone selling in the market at the moment. I doubt they will discontinue the 3G version so early though.

Interesting thought. Though not too sure if they will layan us though. How many people can we actually muster and what repeat potential do we have for Sony? Just being skeptical though since I feel we don't have the numbers sweat.gif

Brilliant idea though. Especially if it's more than 20% laugh.gif

I think its not that impossible, maybe we could approach the distributor, instead of sony shops? as sony shops gains profit from the price the distributor sells to them. My usual mobile phone seller told me this and showed me a price list given from Midlands if not mistaken. At that time the XZ was still selling for 2199, and the price from distributor is 1850, so he sold me the XZ @ 1899. Dont know if this is true, but the price list shown to me had a midland letterhead on it.

Maybe we can bulk/group buy from distributor? just like mobile phone shop to get good price? or we need a registered shop/company to do so? anyways, just a thought..

I'm waiting for the Sweep2Wake mod to come to XZU.

I used it on my Nexus 4 and it is very useful in reducing physical wear on the power button.

why not use "Proximity Actions". Can wake up using proximity sensor tap/swipe..

No more tight fit jeans. Get those deep side pocket slacks. Buy T shirts with pockets

Any XZU user have experience the phone inside water? How's the waterproof concept work?
*
If its any near to the Z build, normal tap washing shud be no issues. Ive washed my XZ a lot of times with no issues. also the was an instance my son spilled over a good serving of ice cream on it and i just washed away like nobody's business. But as for XZU, with the open headphone jack port, I cannot say much. Maybe will try washing it in that area once i get my set later today..

Very bad. Took in my garden with slight light from nearby street lamp. Malu to even post it
Test yourself to assess
Anyway I rarely use phone to take photos. Definitely can say unusable without flash at very low light
I have posted one shot yesterday taken under average low light n still acceptable
*
I see, thanks for the info uncle! thumbup.gif

Was wondering the quality and camera capability as I often take pics with my XZ on Superior Auto in low light conditions and most of the time satisfactory for me. Example of lowlight condition i get good results with superior auto; KLCC park at night around 9pm.

I think i wont be needing a flash on my XZU as planning to use it only as a secondary backup gadget/device, as my XZ will be my daily driver.

If only if its waterproof capability is the same as Xperia Z, since on paper, it should be better than XZ. I wash my XZ on daily basis using soap as I didn't use any case. Wouldn't bother it gets dirty or oily, hahaha. And I also submerged it inside water and take photos underwater. Just that the speaker will be muffled and have to wait for around 2 hours to let it dry up. So I have confidence in XZU's waterproof capability, couldn't wait for LTE models in SG!
*
What worries me though is the open headphone jack. the XZ had flaps on em. I had a scenario with my previous HTC One X where water got in the open jack, and my phone went haywire as it shows that i had a headphone jack slotted in while i didnt. it went on for a few hours. But then again, it was a non IP rated device to begin with. But unless any vids come out regarding the jack being submerged/washed with water, then we should take XZU water-resistance with a little caution.

maybe need extra module to fit in new triluminous display, so no space to put LED flash and maintain 6.5mm thickness imo..
