Just want to share my experience with Astro IPTV/Maxis fiber so that it will not happen to others..

In my home area all fiber infrastructure belongs to TM, up to the BTU box dalam rumah customer. When we change to IPTV, Maxis will be using the same BTU box for their channel. Once you moved to IPTV, your Astro decoder no longer accept signal from dish, it will come from fiber.

Imagine if the TM BTU box rosak, who do you want to call? Kalau you call TM, diaorg akan cakap you are not their customer and they are not responsible to change the device. Kalau you call Astro, diaorg akan cakap BTU box tu belongs to TM and the cannot replace it for you. What they will do is to log a request to TM to come to your house and swap the device. Then boleh agak sendiri la macamana response time dari TM since we are not their client..

That is what happen to me.. from saturday last week until today TM tak come back to Astro yet on the date (only date, bukan utk datang tukar device) when they are available to come.

I am now literally fighting back with Astro to convert my decoder back to dish.. so still menunggu sampai bila Astro boleh solve my issue.. vmad.gif

I think if your area is under Maxis fiber then it is easy since everything under satu boss..

That was my concern earlier too that is why I ask if the dish serves as backup. Answer for now, there is no backup.

Sorry then. I rather pay slightly more rather than going through all the hassle if such issue above happens.

My problem solved at 7:30pm.. Apparently they can update my decoder configuration remotely to revert back to dish..

I was informed that this is an exception case and their management agreed to let me convert back to dish without any penalty. I do not know which one that triggers this, my email to their top management H**** T** or my posting in IPTV FB page or my 30+ calls to their Helpdesk.

Anyway my problem now solved and thank you for that particular person in OSS Team that stays back to ensure my problem solved.

No more IPTV for me!

Yea.. The thing is Astro should have a backup plan since they can't control TM Technician..

I believe they do have SOP when signing as provider under TM fiber infrastructure.. Like how many day to attend customer request. BUT astro shouldn't have use excuse like TM fault or TM technician not available. consumer is Astro/Maxis customer. Whatever have to do with TM should be transparent to customer. It's should be handled by astro/maxis internally.

Bro Syazlan

I think I have the same problem like you. Just recently installed Astro IPTV on Wednesday. It's TM box looking at the phone line. It was running good initially but starting from Friday I loss the internet connection and the broadcast all together. No light from the auth and link indicator on the BTU.

Reading your post I think I am going to end up like you. I should have take the unifi. The important channels for me are the sports channel. But since unifi now will have the EPL on their iptv I am contemplating to change.

bro syazlan, i am planning to change from satellite to iptv. during my interview with the telemarkerter from byond.iptv, the lady says that i still can use the satellite dish for backup if the system is down. i wonder which area you are living. i just agreed for them to come and do site visit. if let sat after site visit i dont want to install the iptv, i still can back off right ?

one more thing, when the iptv reverted to satellite dish, few channel that are exclusively for iptv cannot be viewed is it ?

satellite dish can be used as back up, but only certain channel (ntv7, 8tv etc)... others channel can only be viewed with IPtv

Hi Bro,

As far as I know, when you install Astro-Time IPTV, Astro will upgrade your existing account to IPTV account, collect back your old decoder & replace with a PVR type.

i rephrased.

astro called me to opted to astro byond.iptv. i've been explained that the existing byond dish will be retained for backup purposes. meaning when the system is down, you can make use the existing dish. i was not been informed that there are only few tv channels can be viewed during the downtime.

furthermore after browsing through, there are a lot of complaints with regards the connectivity. that scares me out.

now as per my own homework, i think it is not worth it to pay additional cost for internet and having headache to maintain it. and i am calling the astro cs to cancel my request on upgrading the astro byond to byond.iptv thing.

thanks all for your feedback. by the way, i am living in putrajaya.

Last two weeks, on Thursday, 27th Mac 2014, I had iptv installed at home . I thought this a good move as the promoter said, I will have internet line and uninterrupted astro program even during storms. Great. 1st day worked well.
Two days later, on Saturday, 29th, MAXIS INTERNET LINE BROKE DOWN AND LEFT MY FAMILY WITH NO ASTRO.
I made a report at Customer Service Support Astro IPTV HOTLINE 03-95431543. My astro report no was 1418696084. And untill TODAY, THURSDAY, 10TH APRIL 2014, I still have MAXIS INTERNET LINE BREAK DOWN AND LEFT ME N MY FAMILY WITH NO ASTRO!!!!!!!!???????@@***%+ vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif
I went to TM and they said the unify line at my house is ok. I went to astro and MAXIS at MID Valley. It was rainning heavily and I drove through the road with difficulties and jam and I dont gave up but when I reached there the astro promoter said it is not astro problem and they directed me to maxis and person at counter say it is not their problem and directed me back to astro. Then the guy at counter said they cant do much and pity me and just take my report.
OOOOOhhhh please, astro people, please be professional. You work so well when it comes to installing but why take sooooo long a time to fix customer problem????
If any astro personel read this, plis take note and take action.....

I feel sorry for you guys who went through all these issues. I had a problem as well but it was just the phone service not working with my Astro IPTV setup.

Wish you all good luck in sorting out your problems. Astro IPTV people, take heed!
