there are talks that comes Christmas, gamers can get XBox 360 and Wii for the price of a PS3. What are the chances of that happening? As we all know, XBox 360 has been in the market for > half year and sold 6mil units. They will ship another 10mil before christmas. Will Microsoft slash the price of XBox 360 to increase XBox second holiday sale. can we assume too, the second holiday batch of XBox 360 would be of the products second (improved) generation of XBox 360?

i dont know .. i assume Mic would improve the console after putting it on the market for nearly a year (by then) by getting consumer feedback, fixing bugs ... but i dout the second holiday batch would be be the console's second batch .. maybe next year .. i have a feeling that the price would go down. as they are coming out with the HD DVD player add on which would make the premium console to be at the same priced as the lower end PS3

Right after xb360 launch last year....microsoft has been saying there will be annual price cut. So it's safe to say this year we will see microsoft drop the price of xb360...but not so soon 'coz it will make the early xb360 adopter feel screwed.

Xbox 360 with HD-DVD to be priced below PS3
Anyway, it's for movie playback only.

dont get ur hope so high .. because i am certain 85% durian plantation owners will go for HD DVD n not BD .. why .. in order to make BD disk, one has to pay KICK ASS cost to modify the production line. Its cheaper to produce HD DVD disks. that is why i said, in Asia .. durian plantation owners will determine the next dvd format laugh.gif laugh.gif

the chance of xb360 getting a price cut are very slim, considering the highest price xb360 is USD399 while the cheapest ps3 is USD499. why increase the losses per-machine when there are no competition in price?

MS already fixing bugs in software regularly by using the LIVE update. for hardware, there's a 65 nanometer(?) cpu coming out that will produce less heat than current cpu.

not just the durian plantation owner, but any manufacture will do that. these day business are very competitive, profits margins are getting smaller and smaller. why invest in completely new machine for blu-ray when current machine can be modified to produce hd-dvd? both format are using the same security so there's no contest in it. the only contest is the disc capacity. there's dvd with dual sided, but how many movie need that much storage?

add $100 to the price and get a blu ray player-so im sure ms will drop the 360's price. smile.gif

instead of cutting xb360 price, it would make a better choice to cut the hd-dvd add on, making people feels buying xb360 with add on much cheaper than ps3.

The one who plants the durian-ler who else. You can find them in Tangkak etc..

LOL.

But i disagree ler...durian plantation owners don't have that much influence power. They're simply trend followers.

Tomorrow if durians don't work out, they'll be planting watermelons!!!

the $100 difference is for an Xbox that doesnt play HD DVD AT ALL while PS3 $499 can play BD albeit for downgraded BD movie viewing.

current x360 games in MYR is around RM 160 per-game...

yet, PS3 games will have very different prices...
games develop on dvd more less x360 games price...
games develop on single layer blu-ray disc, price will be a little bit more than x360 games...
games develop on dual-layer blu-ray disc is gonna be more expensive than x360 games....

i'm gonna wait until M$ said that the HD-DVD add on can be used to play games as games will be develop on HD-DVD...

the blu-ray disc price i just refer from here:
X-bit-hardware news

just a simple conclusion...still unsure what PS3 game prices will be after mass-production...
