there are talks that comes Christmas, gamers can get XBox 360 and Wii for the price of a PS3. What are the chances of that happening? As we all know, XBox 360 has been in the market for > half year and sold 6mil units. They will ship another 10mil before christmas. Will Microsoft slash the price of XBox 360 to increase XBox second holiday sale. can we assume too, the second holiday batch of XBox 360 would be of the products second (improved) generation of XBox 360?
the chance of xb360 getting a price cut are very slim, considering the highest price xb360 is USD399 while the cheapest ps3 is USD499. why increase the losses per-machine when there are no competition in price?QUOTE(g5sim @ May 18 2006, 10:40 AM)
i dont know .. i assume Mic would improve the console after putting it on the market for nearly a year (by then) by getting consumer feedback, fixing bugs ... but i dout the second holiday batch would be be the console's second batch .. maybe next year .. i have a feeling that the price would go down. as they are coming out with the HD DVD player add on which would make the premium console to be at the same priced as the lower end PS3
MS already fixing bugs in software regularly by using the LIVE update. for hardware, there's a 65 nanometer(?) cpu coming out that will produce less heat than current cpu.QUOTE(g5sim @ May 18 2006, 11:25 AM)
dont get ur hope so high .. because i am certain 85% durian plantation owners will go for HD DVD n not BD .. why .. in order to make BD disk, one has to pay KICK ASS cost to modify the production line. Its cheaper to produce HD DVD disks. that is why i said, in Asia .. durian plantation owners will determine the next dvd format

not just the durian plantation owner, but any manufacture will do that. these day business are very competitive, profits margins are getting smaller and smaller. why invest in completely new machine for blu-ray when current machine can be modified to produce hd-dvd? both format are using the same security so there's no contest in it. the only contest is the disc capacity. there's dvd with dual sided, but how many movie need that much storage?
