clamav is originally build for linux. The port to windows is not that good yet as it is still very new. I have not tested the windows version but I don't suggest you use it for production server or systems.

Under linux version, I have been using clamav for few years. I can tell you that it does get the job done for scanning emails but for realtime protection I don't think it's good enough. But heck it's free so I have no complain.

For windows based, it's better you spend a little money to get proper protection. Ask your boss, what is more important? Saving that little money or saving the systems from viruses that can potential destroy important data. Norton Antivirus 2005 OEM is only selling for RM45, that's very cheap.

norton is not that bad. It is a little bit resource hog but in terms of performance and feature, but it is still a good software.

But it is definitely better than AVG (free version). For paid version, I am not sure if AVG is better because I have not tried paid AVG version.

wah...what kind of company is that lah?!?! Want to be "legal" but don't want to spend money. The first thing you tell your manager, what you pay is what you get. Don't expect the "free" version of whatever antivirus you get will be as good as any paid version.

Then you can start trying clamwin or avg or other "free" antivirus.

I think clamwin also does not have administrative functions, right? In corporate environment, you definitely need to be able to deploy and manage the antivirus through a server or something. If you have like 50 pcs, it will be a nightmare to manage them if you need to go to each PC one by one.

How big is the company? Chinamen company?

You pay for what you get. They charge you yearly because they let you update antivirus pattern for the duration of the license. That is a lot of work and also takes up resources like server for updates and so on. Most of these antivirus programs have teams of people maintaining it. These people also need to work like you and me to earn a living.

What's wrong with this kind of stupid mentality. Some old 50 year old single women running the company? I am really pissed with this kind of people who doesn't understand the fundamental of software licensing. Tell me the name of the company and I will avoid this company at all cost.
