If Maxis serves that place well then yeah it works well.

3g is dependent on the area you're at, some are covered by U Mobile while the rest are by Maxis.

In short,
2g: Maxis
3g: U Mobile/Maxis (area dependent)
4g: U Mobile

anyway, if you are going to go and get some groceries for home, get RM50 of groceries and you can buy U Mobile prepaid for RM1. If not then just pay the normal 8.50 and try it out and see if it fits your bill

Missed out on that part. Its at Giant, you'll see their banner stating that its RM1 near the payment counter

anyway, ask the cashiers first before buying anything, don't want to get your hopes high

your line needs to be active so its RM28/29/30/31 to keep ur number active for that month depending on the calendar month

RM5 reloads are not available everywhere

Went to U Mobile Outlet @ Sunway Pyramid and they told me only RM30 and above are available. U Mobile kiosk also not so likely because they earn very little for RM5. Anyway, you'd have more luck with agents here or with qoo10

if that is the case, getting friendi would be the better choice. Friendi uses U Mobile's network and if you make a call/sms then the validity will be increased by 2 months, which is good for your parents' usage

RM5. It depends on what did your parents do to extend the validity.

Calls(on net): RM0.18
Calls(off net): RM0.18
SMS(on net): RM0.04
SMS(off net): RM0.08
Reload(min RM3): RM3 and above

I can't recall the credit inside when you first got the sim but let's say you reload RM5. If your parents make one off net SMS every month to extend their validity(two months is a bit hard sometimes, they will forget of whether they need to text for this month or not ), it would take:

12 months x RM 0.08 = RM 0.96, like 1 ringgit yearly commitment?

your annual commitment would be 36, 41 is for first year only. Anyway, if you're scared of them forgetting and they are using an Android phone, you can install a sms scheduler app in it to auto send a sms every month
