QUOTE(kof91 @ Aug 12 2013, 05:16 PM) I havent even bought it yet. From my 2 hours in the beta, the RTS bit is quite underwhelming as it plays a lot like older C&C games where you send units to battle and die. There is no actual base building other than choosing what kind of buildings you want on the predetermined socket that you capture. The dragon bit is quite fun, but also kinda underwhelming if you are playing skirmish as the AI doesnt use it at all but this feature will be patched some time in the future. If you want to juggle between both, then you'll have quite a lot to work with. The RTS AI is generally damn brutal though, so its a good thing for comp stompers. I know the devs are patching this game a lot to resolve some minor sync issue and also fix some of the AI's problem. Heard a lot of good things about the campaign though, as it has interesting characters and actually deal with some more mature issues in a more mature way, unlike Bioware who treats it like teenage drama that they just found out of gays and lesbians today. I think this game is very much a jack of all trades, master of none from the information I have so far. If you liked RTS, third person flight, RPGs and also RISK, i think its a good buy for the current price. For now, its a sale game for me cause i got sucked into GRID 1 again. |

QUOTE(Zgames @ Aug 13 2013, 12:13 AM) Alan Wake that good? For a horror waving flashlight game? Always sees this game go on sales for like 80-85% sometimes. For me, i liked the game a lot as the game felt very atmospheric to me. There are some parts of the game that make you feel like you are in a dark, cold and fearful place which not many games manage to do that well. Also, the locations of the game is done beautifully with pretty decent draw distance due to enhanced graphics on PC, even for such an old game. The combat is repetitive for some people but I find it alright as it pretty much involves pretty much pointing the flash light at the enemy then, kill them with bullets if not using your flashbang or flare gun. I think the part that stands out from the game the most was the last 2 DLC missions that made you felt like you are in a horribly warped and twisted nightmare with some interesting mechanics or even fight in a giant twisted ferris wheel. It also kinda remind me of Inception as the movie also have some twisted locations too, except in Alan Wake, you are fighting and running in one. QUOTE(sniperz @ Aug 13 2013, 08:33 AM) kof91 already said that he wanted Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition. Seriously, man, read the post properly before you post something. |

QUOTE(ik3da @ Aug 13 2013, 02:22 PM) Any JRPG fans here? This looks like an awesome game in the making; http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/130029...talent?mobile=0 After seeing the conceptual screenshot, I am interested. Crap. Why is the goal is only 100k? Thats damn little to make a game? Even a uni student's game needs like 75k for one year of development. This post has been edited by Cheesenium: Aug 13 2013, 02:53 PM |

QUOTE(pikachu01 @ Aug 13 2013, 02:56 PM) Answer is in the FAQ or below:Isn’t $100,000 too low to be making a title of this caliber? When you think of usual developing fees, USD100,000 is definitely not enough to create a video game. However, as each of our members are professionals in their own field, they do not require a salary right now, and so, are donating their time and effort into developing Project Phoenix. Their reward will come in the fans’ evaluation of the game and a %-based royalty of all sales. This is the reason why our project will never fail due to lack of finance after we reach our goal. It is possible to release our game with just our developers' work, but there is one cost that we just cannot ignore in order to make the highest quality video game. Our pledge, USD100,000 will be used for one of the best 3D modeling out there. This figure is the most minimum cost required. The money that has been invested through Kickstarter will go towards things such as recordings and hiring extra assistants. The money will always be used solely to enhance the quality of Project Phoenix. This money will never reach our members as salary. Our members are working on this game knowing that they will receive a royalty of the % of income based on how much time they've spent on Project Phoenix. Project Phoenix aspires to be a video game that solely exists because of the users. So, user evaluation will inherently be crucial to our members' future revenues. If they do not put much effort in, the users' assessment of their work will simply be poor and therefore ultimately reflect badly in the incoming they receive. We chose Kickstarter because this is where we will be able to make all this happen. There are various exciting rewards ready for you depending on the amount of money pledged. What will the fate of Project Phoenix be? You, who invest in Project Phoenix, will be a true team member. So let's create an amazing game together! So, they did explain it, but I am not too sure that they can make it without any salary. Still, I am god damn interested in this project as I like the idea of blending the talents of east and west. |

QUOTE(ik3da @ Aug 13 2013, 03:00 PM) Same here, saw the screenshots and it looks damn yummy. Plus the people enlisted for this one, it look so much like a win for sure. My only concern for this game is the delivery date, man, Nov 2014 the earliest and for the addon items by March 2015. Worried that I might have a kid in hand by the time this game is out *In regarding to the low KS amount - they are just getting 100k for the 3D development, the rest are going to be royalty based (sales based profit, I guess). It is in their FAQs, take a look see. For info, they broke the KS amount in just 1 day time. ![]() Is it just me of the in-engine concept felt a bit chibi or something? Like everything is small and a bit cute. My concern is, I am fine if they dont take salary but are these AAA developers going to work on their free time or they are just gonna do unpaid work for the next whole year? I am assuming that it uses Unity so it might speed things up a bit. For your case, i actually dunno how to help you or even what to say. Seriously, the music sample on the KS is awesome. Pledged one game this month, another one next month. I can forget about buying games on release then, and keep playing all the buggy stuff from KS. |

QUOTE(ik3da @ Aug 13 2013, 03:48 PM) I actually don’t mind the chibi-ness, after all most older/general JRPG used to be designed in that way (Disgaea, Ys, older FF series etc). I miss having games like that haha. I am not critising on the chibi-ness, but in fact, I kinda like it.Based on what I can read so far, it seems that the developers will really do the work for free until the game is out for sale. Maybe there are some hidden publisher or company sponsoring something here and there. Music is being managed from the legend himself haha, he has a lot to answer if the music is no good. I am likely to go for it but I am checking if I can poison my gamer kaki to combo the Fiery Steed ($80) pledge. Pricey but it seems like a worthwhile investment. Tempted for the Artisan or Treasure Hunter but hmm, have to see if I can poison the guy successfully first. *On having a kid, haha, if I kena one by 2015, this will be his first b'day present then. Yeap, developers will be working on it on their free time with no salary, other than the royalties after release. Will hang around and see how this goes. Seems like a very interesting project to be honest. QUOTE(mypg0306 @ Aug 13 2013, 04:10 PM) Skullgirls 4-packs for $9 per person for GG warriors Ok, i might be up for that. 4 pack anyone? Lets do it in the 4 packs thread.http://www.gamersgate.com/DDB-SG4P/skullgirls-4-pack-bundle QUOTE(d-ky @ Aug 13 2013, 04:14 PM) Please note that, pledging for kickstarter is not pre-ordering/investing for a game as you have pretty much no rights once you pay up after the campaign ends. Only pledge with your disposable income that you dont mind not getting anything in return. There are quite a few of my kickstarter projects going dark recently, so if you dislike this sort of thing, dont pledge for a kickstarter. |

QUOTE(ik3da @ Aug 13 2013, 04:43 PM) Haha, no worries – I think you ain’t the type to ditch a game for looks only. I really doubt that everyone knows as a lot of people still dont know what kickstarter actually is. Calling it investing or crowdfunding is just wrong because majority of kickstarter dont not offer returns like typical forms of investing. Then, pre-ordering is not right too, as you are literally buying air or something as the game doesnt even exist yet. On top of that, in most projects, backers are really excited to contribute from QA to actual game production which some projects "abuse" the backer's enthusiasm that I think it helped the project. To be frank, I am damn happy to see Sir You are Being Hunted next week, as it looks like STALKER in British setting and Planetary Annihilaiton after that because I am eager to contribute too, especially PA as this time, i'll make sure the performance is right. I think everyone here knows the concept of Kickstarter but for those who don't; the game ain’t out till any time around end 2014 and there is always a chance of a project goes kaput and sink. No money will be returned and there are such cases already. Pledge if you have the money, you can always buy the game when it is out – and in some cases, the final game might not even worth the long term investment. However I truly regret not realizing that Virtuix Omni was on KS – I really wanna walk/play in TF2 or Skyrim with it and Occulus. Pre-ordering is available now but I just gonna wait till Occulus Rift is out first as well. In the end, I got no idea what to call this thing. For me, i'll only buy the second gen of Occulus Rift as the first gen will not support people who wears glasses. Also, be careful with Project Phoenix, yes, that JRPG game that was on the last page. Some people found out that the lead designer was only a QA Tester for LA Noire, not an actual designer but his other previous work could NDA so he cant reveal it. And there is no lead programmer yet too. I'll hang on first as this might be a little bit more dodgy than other projects as there is no ingame footage. Considering that Nobuo Uematsu is working on this, I guess the other people on the team will not be a bunch of jokers who knows little as these AAA devs reputation are at stake too. QUOTE(Zgames @ Aug 13 2013, 04:51 PM) You guys think how much is the occulus itself? I mean I want to try it to but with these glasses on my hope is dead. Practically dead. [ Long Sighted Can't see sh*t if taken glass of except something or someone near me that is ] I am assuming it to be around $300 to $400 as thats how much the dev kits used to cost.I think for long sighted people, you probably still can use it as the screen is literally in your face but I somehow prefer to have my glasses in it too. |

QUOTE(ik3da @ Aug 13 2013, 05:29 PM) I actually don't participate in much of the game devs or discussion at all, haha - wasting my KS rights but I barely have time to balance games + wife nowadays. Unless they plan to change Project Eternity to a FPS or such, I won't really jump in Haha, I also dont expect to learn that much in terms of project management and game development from these KS projects. I would call this as a "Shut up and take my money" scheme. Like/love the idea? Have the spare money? Have the patience? Fund it. Follow it. Pray for it. Anything else, wait till they finish and release the game. It won't hurt much (I hope). For Phoenix, oh well, I hit most of the preconditions for this project so I gonna fund it. Only confirming if I got my kaki to tag for combo at $80 or just solo at $20. I have pirated enough to lose $20 Still, i know I paid quite a bit of money for KS projects but so far, no regrets as I am helping these guys in a tiny, almost insignificant way to build the games they want, and also the chance to play the games I want to play. "Shut up and take my money" scheme does sounds suitable. Project Phoenix, that one, I am not too sure at the moment, will hang back and see how it goes first, i guess. Definitely getting only the $20 tier. The soundtrack is amazing to be honest. This post has been edited by Cheesenium: Aug 13 2013, 05:48 PM |

QUOTE(ChcGamer @ Aug 13 2013, 06:56 PM) Wanna ask if this is pure single player only? I think its a single player game. Multiplayer would be hard for a dev team like this to handle.I find it weird getting cosmetic items like the steed or egg for single player game I'm actually now considering the 120USD tier |
