i thought the engine would come first as without the engine a car is... not a car. you need power in the first place so that the transmission can even begin to apply the power to the wheels.

looking at modern cars, all their engines cost more than the transmission, even my car, 4g15 engine is between 2-3k? while a 3speeder at is in the 1-1.5k, manual tranny a bit less.

it's rather surprising if the cvt actually almost cost half of the saga flx itself laugh.gif
*
If bought from Proton, Campro engine assembly is the same price as the CVT gearbox, around RM12k not including labour.

but the difference is, Campro is familiar to many bawah pokok workshop....CVT, not so much. Summore CVT difficult to find halfcut.

So in that sense, the CVT is more valuable than the engine. hmm.gif

so in general it's more of a proton thing as the transmission is ahead of the engine right? (again, that is not the case with other makers, do correct me if i'm wrong though)
*
No idea about other makes, but for Proton this is the case.....Unless it's a Campro CFE rclxms.gif

QUOTE(drfeelgood @ Jul 23 2013, 10:53 PM)
guys, if I wanted to upgrade my rims to 15".

What size tyre would be advisable?

I am looking at 195/55R15 but 1 tyre shop told me use 195/50R15. Would the latter be less comfortable?
*
both can use. obviously for the same tire model, thicker sidewall is usually more comfortable at the expense of handling.

I dono the actual parts of engine la.
what i mean is like, eg if u use 15" rim, ur tyre pancit liao then doesnt mean u can simply fit in 14" or 16" tyre?
Engine there bukan macam ni ?
*
If you mean mounting the gearbox to the engine, then the bolting points should be the same. Takkan they build different engine block for MT and CVT.

That is, if you use the Getrag MT for FLX, not some random gearbox from halfcut shop.

Never happened to me before. If you maintain the proper offset then should be no problem.

I mentioned before it MIGHT scrub your banana leaf when doing lock-to-lock turns.

I think you've misunderstood my intention of that post.
I only shared my ayam feeling when I asked this same Q in V47.
Ayam asked the same Q and Iska said my ayam butt sensitive pulak which is  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  and  laugh.gif  laugh.gif  at the same time.
Coz those stock M5 really butt hurts when going those thick yellow caution lines (before toll / bump / T-junction).
The faster I go, the more the car sounds like want to break into pieces.

Tu funker never pakai M5 before so he dunno, forgive him sleep.gif

the solution for butt hurt when going on those speed breakers is to go even faster.

Repeat it everyday and eventually you'll immune to it. biggrin.gif

My "favourite" speed breaker is at the Sungai Besi highway from lakefields towards Kuchai Lama.

There were even rumours among local residents that there were construction rebars under the stripes
