MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning Pictured

Ahead of its launch, pictures of MSI's GeForce GTX 780 Lightning graphics cards were leaked to the web by HardwareZone (now redacted), and reposted by WCCFTech. Pictures reveal never before seen PCB and cooler designs. To begin with, MSI is using a brand new cooling solution called TriFrozr. It combines a large compound dual fin-stack heatsink, to which heat is fed by seven 8 mm-thick heat pipes, with an array of three fans, two larger 100 mm ones on the edges, and a smaller 70 mm one in the center. The fans feature independent control system, which lets you tweak speeds of individual fans, over software. An LED-lit badge doubles up as a GPU load indicator. A swanky back-plate lines the reverse side.

Under this elaborate cooling solution is a brute of a PCB. Drawing power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors, the custom-design PCB by MSI features a 20-phase digital PWM voltage regulation, which use a combination of high current chokes, International Rectifier PowIRstage, DirectFET chips, tantalum capacitors, and MSI's GPU Reactor module that cuts out electrical noise. The GPU is wired to 7 GT/s rated Elpida-branded memory chips, and three (that's right, three) GPU BIOS ROMs. One stores a failsafe reference BIOS, another factory-OC air BIOS, and one that primes the GPU for liquid-nitrogen cooling-assisted overclocking. MSI is expected to launch the GTX 780 Lightning on August 28, 2013, priced around $800.

Guys, im using Asus GTX 570 direct cu ii, and I'm facing 1 problem need sifu here to help me identify..

Problem: I play battlefield 3 multilayer, and few minutes and the game freeze, but there is still have game sound, only the screen turn black, and when I go end task, the application status is not responding, So I only able to close the game by end the process..And this is the first game face this problem, then i tried crysis 2, it also having the same problem.. personally thinking that is high duty of gpu running caused this..but how to solve this?

use msi afterburner and lower your gpu core and mem clock

or test other drivers

To lower the Gpu core and mem clock is manual or auto? the crysis two its fine after i switch off directx 11

hi guys, my first post on this forum, l hav a asus gtx680 dcu2oc, been itchy hand removed the cooler to clean dust, after l put it back to one piece, card jz go crazy overheat, 50c idle, able to reach 98c if full load jz few sec, lm guessing maybe it is the thermal compound issue, l had RMA-ed the card with All IT, anyone here experience RMA b4? ussually how long it takes? the reseller said 2 months, my god!

Never settle for an AMD bundle

AMD has stirred up the AIB industry with its recently updated Never Settle bundles, which now allow users to choose the games they want to redeem, and they offer quite a few AAA titles to choose from.



Nvidia has yet to counter AMD’s latest moves, but there are some positive developments. In July Nvidia announced a partnership with Ubisoft to bundle several new titles with select GTX cards. These include Splinter Cell Blacklist, Watch Dogs and Assassins Creed IV Black Flag. Splinter Cell Conviction is also up for grabs.

Now that SC:Blacklist has officially launched, so has the bundle. Users who pick up a GeForce GTX 660, 660 Ti, 670, 680, 760, 770 or 780 are eligible for the freebie, Nvidia announced at Gamescom.

It is a good move, but AMD still has the upper hand with its massive Never Settle Forever promotion.

It's likely you did not install back the cooler properly. That's why it couldn't come into good contact with the GPU. But since you've already RMA, then nothing much can be done anymore.

l did try to install back a 2nd times, it seems stable after that, but the temp still higher than b4, full load 75c, b4 l remove the cooler running at 1149 mhz only get me to 66c at most. at the time l remove the cooler, the thermal that applied on the chip is dam dried up, anyway like you said, nothing can be done except wait.

btw l noticed a lots of jaggies, shadow jaggie, shadow flickering, shimmering on games like gw2, skyrim, dmc, tomb raider, assassin creed, almost all game, but different kind of issue on each game, l am using a dell 23 inch IPS monitor, l duno izit the card problem or monitor?

Try hooking the monitor to your onboard display to see if you have similar occurrences? Sounds more like a sick GPU, instead of driver issue.

that's one of the reason l decided to rma the card, been trying all sort of settings in nvidia control panel, the only fix l can get for shimmering is turn on supersampling 8x

on board display cant even boot up, u mean on mobo right? using i7 3770k, izit anything l need to do in bios?

Hmm..try to look for IGP/IGD settings somewhere.

Seriously wats up wit all the drivers lately? Y so many case reported not stable? Im still using GeForce 314.22 Driver WHQL dated back to march which is still the most stable driver for my system..

This is unexpected/expected but certainly i did not expect they include WD as well 
i wonder how they will/ will they compensate the early buyer prior to this announced bundle.
