I see. I drive the 2017 City Hybrid. Driven says the engine is cranked by the 12V battery instead of the lithium battery. Need to check with my SA then. Thanks again.
Edit: A fellow City Hybrid says the lead acid battery is charged the right way so I shouldn't need to worry. By that I think he means the lithium battery drip charges the lead acid I guess.
12v battery is solely for traditional car's electrical circuitry. Headlight, radio, wiper, etc. The normal stuffs.
The lithium battery is for assisting the petrol engine and sometime for pure EV drive (if the condition is right).
Lithium battery -> IMA -> motor. A small portion of the power from this battery / IMA motor is being used to recharge the 12v battery. This is because Jazz hybrid do not have traditional alternator.
The engine do have traditional starter motor, but only will be used IF IMA system fails. Else all cranking will be done by the hybrid motor. That's why when you crank the engine, there's no traditional typical cranking sound can be heard.
