you must have a good com.

no dude. i was referring that in my SupComm outings, the game is terribly slow especially with those amount of units. it's more like 1500 - 2000 range i think.

QUOTE(iceman31 @ May 19 2007, 01:02 PM)
hard wo... hp go down like snail sleep.gif

Can Sup Com run smoothly on this rig?

C2D 6420 2.4GHz
2GB RAM
nVidia 8600GT 256MB DDR2 RAM

I have tried it on my old com and it's not running smoothly at all. That com is not my new com,it's my brother's one.
*
it runs smooth on my X2 3600+ @ 2.5ghz, 1GB RAM and 6800 Ultra. that also depending on resolution la. 1680x1050 it goes at about 13fps, decent for RTS. horrible for FPS.

Sorry, your rig cant run Sup Com.You really need a C2D to run Sup Com.
ok. what da crap are you talking?

others can play on Athlon64 2800+ with 7300GS. and I've used Athlon64 2800+ on SupComm as well.

I have tried it on my current com with a AMD Athlon 3200+,it lags with more than 50 units on screen and that the lowest possible setting. Now,you expect a P4 HT 3.0GHz to run Sup Com smoothly.I doubt that it will be much better than what have i seen on my com.

well that surely is different compared to what you said earlier....

smile.gif "can't run" and "can't run smoothly" has totally different meaning.

what you can do is play at lower resolution and details, still can work. i used it on my 6800 Ultra and Athlon64 2800+@2.3ghz before, works ok.

easy mode. hrmm. i started this morning and finished it in around 6 - 7 hours. that also i was being paranoid and build lotsa lotsa lotsa stuff. smile.gif

Ahh you should watch some replays normally a game takes bout 15-20 min and for a 2 v 2 30-35 min.

i talk about campaign, you talk about player vs player. smile.gif

anyway my record for killing a supreme AI is less than 5 minutes. hrmm.........Supreme AI. LOL.

How will this game fare on my 3.2GHz Pentium D with 2Gb memory and 7800 GTX ? I am afraid of the slide-show effect...u know wat I mean.

your rig will crawl in the end.

it always crawl then reaching like later part of the game where there's about 1000+++ units.

I will however look at the unit list first before jumping in. Hope they introduce more air units.

hu hu. UEF T3 Gunship is a killer man. without T3 Sams all over the place, sending a pile of them at some place is devastating.

but seriously, i find the best unit to use so far are the T3 battleships. biggrin.gif damn nice. beats any T3 gunship or siege bots.

usually they're damn hard to reach and damn hard to kill unless you have a bunch of gunships or T3 bombers.

Which T3 battle ships?Omen Class?Galaxy Class? or Summit Class?

Omen class cant attack air as it has not AA.
*
oh. i don't bother about their AA ability. those i let other stuff handle.

i like their bombardment ability. i use summit and galaxy most often. biggrin.gif

i find that if it's a map with water around, using a few T3 battleship is more effective than T4 units.

Hmmm, I guess gunships pwn t3 naval.
if you spam a bunch of T2 gunship, or even the T3 UEF gunship - yes it pwnz naval BUT i'm talking about attacking bases.

a base with a bunch T3 SAMs shreds even T3 gunships easily however base defences aren't effective against T3 battleships. biggrin.gif of course, arguably you'll have to spam a bunch of gunships for that purpose so the side with battleships also would've come with a bunch of AA units.

one thing about gunship, i like the Cybran gunship for the area effect damage. not so good in hitting units BUT damn nice for hitting base defences. usually hitting the object at the center would mean the rest get damaged together.

EDITED : btw gunships pwnz T4 units as well. assuming you have quite a huge quantity. UEF T3 gunship rawks!

I play this game (Forge Alliance) last night. So far I notice the faction has the same tech just like other factions right? Or is there any special tech for each faction?  unsure.gif
*
1. you have a new faction
2. each of the older faction have new units and new structures

smile.gif each faction is slightly different. for example. Cybran has T2 destroyer that can cross land. UEF has T3 gunship. Cybran has no T3 shield generator. so on so forth. Aeon? LOL i donno, i rarely use them. i only know their T4 units.

Guys, my supreme commander is bundled with my Gigabyte GPU. I remember when I 1st install it, there is no need for the product key, but now after i format my PC, and wanted to install it, it requires the product key. Where can I get it from? As i remember it doesn't came with a manual...
*
it should have the CD-key. check the boxes, the covers, the CD itself.

QUOTE(zubai @ Jan 26 2008, 02:59 PM)
I've tried the demo, man it's so slow to build, buildings and units. Got bored, save my game, and play dow: dark crusade happy.gif .How long does a skirmish battle last?
*
depends on how you play. i can take down an AI in 5 minutes. too bad my friends aren't so courageous. LOL.

so prepare at least 30 minutes la. if the map is huge, prepare 3 hours.

Probably the CC's PC cannot handle the game ..
*
can la, who say cannot. smile.gif just that prepare for slowdowns.

eh, even the CORE processors also have problem la k, it's just a matter of time.

i've personally tested SUP COM from single core to dual core to dual core much OCed.

the longer you play, the more it slows down. even if each player has 500 unit cap, imagine how many units are on screen if you fully build?

btw i play SC:FA almost every day. smile.gif it's very interesting, even when vs computer.

C&C3 is nice BUT seriously la, you think about it - what crap of warfare is C&C3 la. aerial warfare? LOL. what aerial warfare? the StormRiders are the only unit i like. the GDI / NOD air units could drop some load and need to reload. well, at least that NOD helicopter (what's the name ah?) could be upgraded to beam weapons but they still are purdy sucky when you compare to supreme commander.

in supreme commander, wow the T3 bombers. without proper AA setup, just a T3 bomber would rip the whole base apart. yes. single unit! same goes to T3 ground / sea units.

then there's the T4 unit, my favourite - the Proton Kumbang. ok i should call it Perodua Kumbang. biggrin.gif Cybran T4 experimental gunship. and the ever powerful UEF Fatboy damn nice for attack but too bad it gets pwned by air units. haha. Seraphim T4 bomber also damn fun to play, great for clearing bases while Aeon's CZAR - damn useful if you can't run, just let your unit RIP right on top of enemy base, and perhaps the enemy commander. smile.gif

my point? SC's factions MAY have similar unit types / style BUT the tactical options are huge!

SC has it's flaws
1. air units - it will patrol but it will not seek & destroy, meaning hit a bit then enemy not around in sight then it will continue patrol

2. ground units - puts priority on path. meaning it will shoot only when in range, it doesn't shoot until the thing burst before moving

3. stupid & ineffective - the units will keep on firing at opponent, even if their LOF is blocked by terrain. so yeah, i had plenty of units lost because they keep shooting ground when enemy shooting at them.

on the other hand i also had cases where that stupid thing saved my base. smile.gif

4. unit fails to understand priority. say a T3 bot. you tell him to shoot the T2 artillery. he'll keep shooting that direction even if blocked by factory. so you tell him to move. when he moves, he forgets the attack instruction and shoots something else. this applies to the units in general.

however those complaints aside, it's really tactical.

for example. should you
1. spam T2 units? the most cost-effective units in the game
or
2. spam T3 units, damn powerful but slow to build, slow to spam. slow to move too
or
3. spam T4 units, even slower and it gets worse if it get pwned while travelling to enemy base, or worse, when building
4. build strategic missile and hope enemy has no defence yet
5. build T3 artillery lablablabla

i like this game cos it involves a lot of decision making.

+10M and +90E
would you upgrade an extractor or upgrade the factory? smile.gif
