Is it possible to have battery draining faster when using wifi than when using 3g?? I noticed when at home with wifi, even at idle, it drains faster than when i'm outside on 3g... It kind of baffles me.... Like significant drain which cause me to worry.... And it seems like only happening after the latest software update....
*
Just speculating:

Maybe you have "update/sync on Wifi" turned on. Check whether your Wifi data consumption is high. This could cause the battery drain.

hi all,

quick question here...when we are taking the video using our note 2...if you notice there's the 'AF' box at the bottom right... when you press it...it will disappear if you don't want it...

so which one is with the AF function actually? when the icon appear means AF is on? or when we press on that icon and make it disappear then AF is on?

thanks...
*
I think this is probably clarified in the manual (I haven't read it) but I just tested. If you tap on an area in the screen, it will focus on where you tapped. That's when the AF appears. If you tap elsewhere it will disappear.

I think it is to focus automatically on wherever you tap the screen to show that it's functioning. Otherwise it is likely an infinity focus.

Yeah it could get turned on again. Do check and see if that's the case. BTW a Seraph is not supposed to be cute. Seraphim and Cherubim can kill you.

BTW other news sites are now picking up that Indon approval for the SM-N900 and saying the Note3 has been approved in Indonesia first.

I wonder are they really that certain if that's the Note 3 part model number...

Well if it is then I suppose we will soon get more leaks.

HTC One Max Phablet Rumoured for September Release.

Rumoured to be sporting an extra powerful 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM to render the 6-inch 1080p display, the HTC One Max is also rumoured to pack a digitizer stylus together with a larger 3200mAh battery and 32 or 64GB 0f storage.

It's been rumored quite a bit but actual news is still surprisingly a lot less than the Note 3. Well, another contender doesn't hurt. It may use the N-trig digitizer from the HTC flyer. That didn't do very well coz it was a separate accessory and they didn't make the OS pen-aware enough. Let's see how they will do it this time.

I couldnt recall where i turn off the auto sync... But i went through my whole settings again and made sure any 'auto' is still off.... (Except auto lock screen that is....  tongue.gif ) i even made sure i close all running apps....
I'm starting to regret the update....  cry.gif  my battery used to be able to last a whole day by night time still have 40% even on 3g until next morning.... But now on wifi which is suppose to be less battery consuming, it cant go pass evening.... At night is worse, batt goes down more than 10%.... I checked with wakelock detector and nothing unusual.... I'll charge it, so it goes to bed with 70% and next morning its 50+%  doh.gif
But thanks for helping me....  smile.gif

For Play Store:
Play Store>Settings>Auto-update apps make sure it's Do not Auto Update

For other stuff, go to Settings > Accounts and ensure you only sync stuff that you need syncing for each account.

You can also check on Settings > Wireless and Networks > Data Usage > Wifi to see what's consuming your data, and therefore juice.

Of course you could also install BetterBatteryStats or GSAM Battery Monitor as well.

Poor Alex.

Some news which I guess many have read. If you haven't here it is:

HTC One Max as Note 3 competitor
http://mobile.theverge.com/2013/7/15/45241...ease-date-rumor

What's interesting is in the discussions in the comments. Someone was calling the >5" market a niche and gave a feasible explanation:

This was a response contrasted to the 216 MILLION smartphones shipped last year:

Just do a quick Google search for Note 2 shipments. All I found were two matching entries: one from Nov 2012 which says that the Note 2 was sold 3M times within the first 30 days globally and 2M additional times the following month (5M in first two months of availability). The second entry was just a forecast that Samsung was targeting 20M units (“could sell 20M times”), published Sep 2012.

It’s July 2013 now and we haven’t heard of any numbers since.

Why doesn’t Samsung post further numbers if they’re that groundbreaking? Because they aren’t IMO.

Smartphone sales from Q4/2012 to Q2/2013 will be likely approx. around 650M (numbers for Q2 aren’t available yet). Even if Samsung manages to sell the Note 2 20M times in 9 months, it’d account for only ~3.08%.

Even if you add Note 1 sales and those of other all other existing phablets, you’ll likely never pass the 5.0% mark.

It’s a niche. Profitable thanks to high margins, yes, but still a niche market.

====================

So I think the combined sales of XZU, HTC 1 Max, Asus Fonepad Note and Note 3 are likely going to cause a zero sum game, coz really, not EVERYONE wants a large device, although for those who have, they will have extreme difficulty going back to anything smaller tongue.gif

for the waze vs gmap u missed one important thing. navigation with faster route is better than gmap cuz it has speed of the route due to other waze users.
*
I find that Waze likes to take huge detours even if I'm actually at the correct junction....so I usually look at the whole route before travelling.

Yes, Waze with its congestion detector is a really good feature. Probably will get rolled into GNav by year's end.

I feel unsecure without the smartphone. anyone here have experience?
*
Sadly Samsung does not have a 1 to 1 exchange policy. Your phone will be there from 3 days to 2 weeks depending on parts availability and/or your politeness.

Yours sounds like the SDS (Sudden Death Syndrome) bug. When did you get your Note 2?

would this alleviate this issue?

S-Beam is likely a TW specific feature. You can use the alternate beam type apps I think listed in post 5 or 12.

with the latest craze in Google Edition stuff for S4 and HO, i decided to equip myself with their awesome possum phase beam in red...

using it for a few days, i realized i became angrier and irritable

red isn't conducive for a happy and calm attitude, hence back to blue phase beam!

Android versus iOS Security
http://www.theverge.com/2013/7/16/4527326/...us-ios-security

I was just doing research on Android versus iOS security and was surprised by what I discovered. Did you know that for every 1 Android vulnerability there were about 9 iOS vulnerabilities? Now, this probably shouldn't come as a surprise considering iOS has always had security issues. In fact, it was so bad that you could jailbreak an iOS device by just visiting a web site at one time - it doesn't get much simpler than that. So it's kind of peculiar to hear Phil Schiller criticize Android security and telling people to be safe out there when iOS is basically one of the most insecure mobile OS's ever created. Phil probably doesn't realize that one of the benefits of being an open source OS is that the top security researches from all over the world have gone through the Android code base and picked it apart. Anyway, let's get to the vulnerabilities.

Total iOS Vulnerabilities 2007-2013: 238

Total Android Vulnerabilities 2009-2013: 27

Ratio: 8.8

A Symantec report
http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/ente...91018.en-us.pdf

And a comment about the report:
It’s known fact that iOS has tonnes more vulnerabilities than Android. From Symantec 2013 report:

“Mobile vulnerabilities have little or no correlation to mobile malware. In fact, while Apple’s iOS had the most documented vulnerabilities in 2012, there was only one threat created for [it],”
“Compare this to the Android OS: although only thirteen vulnerabilities were reported, it led all mobile operating systems in the amount of malware written for the platform.”

================

So fruitco has more holes but nobody wants to eat it, while Android has less holes but everyone is trying to get a slice of the green robot......maybe this reflects that crapple is on the wane?
