I would say just get any SSD based on your budget. If you have enough budget then get those super high performance SSD. Else just get a basic SSD will also be good enough. A basic SSD is already very much faster than old fashion HDD. FYI, those super fast SSD is not really the much faster. Only in benchmark you can see them really fast but in real life, it is not really noticeable. Just like GPU benchmarks.

I have an Intel 330 40gb SSD (running sataII only). The boot up into windows 7 take only around 15 secs. With super fast SSD, this might become 12 secs. But with old HDD, that's around 3 minutes (180 secs).

The slowdown is not due to SSD ware off, it's cause by the amount of software accumulated on your system that will set themselves auto start-up after boot, and a lot of non-Microsoft services, background apps(windows 8, apps eat quite a lof of RAMs )

good question. a simple answer is no, in terms of cost effectiveness. say you have 32gb of ram, the most you can do is to create a 24gb ramdisk, provided that 8gb is good enough for your usage. so how much is 24gb of ram? for now it's MYR 900 roughly. with that money you can get a decent 256gb ssd easily. 24gb vs. 256gb. it's obvious.

a ramdisk is useful when you do have a lot of ram. the only problem with it is the sudden power loss.

imo a better system is to ensure you can make full use of the hardware resources that it has, leveraging on strengths of each component. for a system with ssd, a good amount of ram, and uninterrupted power supply (i.e. laptops or pc with UPS), it's good to have a ramdisk like the following:
1. OS drive - ssd;
2. apps/games - ssd;
3. data - hdd, this is still the cheapest option as data storage;
4. temporary reads/writes folders, scratch disk, browser cache, etc. stuff which are essential to have but are safe to discard when you shut your computer down - ramdisk.

since ramdisk has strengths like being the fastest of all in terms of data read/writes, and almost indestructible no matter how many times you write to it, it's good to have some to house at least user-level temporary folders/files and web browser cache. (even a small one, e.g. 2gb, can help a lot).

since you have moved almost all high write/erase operations from ssd to ramdisk, it helps to reduce write/erase cycles in ssd, thus help prolong the lifespan of your ssd too.

.. and this is not about rich or not, you can even do this to a 3k laptop which has a 8gb of ram.

samsung 840 evo user and previously using crucial m4. almost every time i boot my system, i'll stuck at window logo black screen for almost a min or 2 before booting into windows. even previously on m4. i migrated the OS to my new samsung 840.
FYI, i OC my system, is it due to this problem or is the windows corrupted? revert all my oc to default and boot up still the same. what seems to be the problem here. my ssd boots slower than a normal hdd.. 

Why is it so? Is it going to be much cheaper than its rival?

Wonder what's the negative side of it being $20 or more cheaper than others

I know what u means, able to load OS fast and open app in glimpse of an eye sure I want. But no budget for 250Gb. Raya near somemore, need to cut cost.

Compare to those benchmark score on review sites, my score is very low.. like 50% only.. is this normal? this my first SSD so my knowledge is limited and i already did research but there are no specific information for my situation...
